Without getting into politics, the new train cars are still 20x better than the old ones in terms of cleaning. There's no way they'd be able to do this on the old fleet.
So grateful for all that the cleaning crew does to elevate everyone’s riding experience! Compared to old trains, these newer trains looks so modern. A difference like that represents us better when tourists come visit our beautiful Yay Area ❤️
These guys & girls are my heroes. Station agents, they do nothing as people bypass the fare gates without paying, and unironically those are most likely the people who make the trains filthy. BART police, can't tell you how many times I've sent a text to the non-emergency line stating there was someone smoking on a train or something, and I'm lucky to hear an announcement reminding people no smoking which doesn't do anything.
*BART is a necessity* from SF to the South Bay to avoid overwhelming traffic, *but it MUST be clean and safe.* Strong police presence, especially at dangerous stations. Multiple security cameras on every train and station. No homelessness. No loitering. No rape. No violent crimes. No illicit drug use. No littering. No defecating. No urinating.
The cleaning crew are doing a great job! I hope BART is installing the new fare gates at the worst stations first - keeping the free riders off will make it more pleasant for the paying passengers AND easier for the cleaners.
The new train cars are much much better. The issue is timely response of BART police. I came across a incident of Drinking and loud music. I called at station#1 and no response until station#5 and that person got off the train.

The real major issue is a cultural problem of too many uncivilized people including the rregualr office commuting people lakcing decency ,common sense when they use public transit. I have seen too many people put their feet in the front seat or take two seats, drinking,eating and even drinking beer. They should enforce laws.the US has too many laws but doesn't enforce to make sure people follow them. BTW, it is not just BART hta tis dirty. Caltrain and VTA are jsut as filthy.
And to think they have less trains and less cars too make sure every Train is completely packed. Bart is truly a failed system, down to the broken machines and toll gates they don,t fix anymore.
