    I have been divorced and very low income and followed you from 2005 to 2017 and paid off over $50K in debt except for car. Remarried in 2017( STILL FOLLOW YOU) my fiance had over 400K in debt and was upside down with his bills and income. I taught my fiance the budgeting methods and debt snowball BEFORE MARRIAGE. I helped my fiance set up a budget for his finances Before we combined finances(late 2016) bought my 14 YO daughter you video series for children- NOW 2024 and married 7 years. We are budgeting monthly and currently contributing 15% to our 401Ks and 50% extra on our house should be paid off no later than 2029. I am 58 and 70% disabled. YOU CAN DO IT!

    My husband and I listened to the money game before it was even financial peace and Dave Ramsey. We listened every day for decades . we followed all the baby steps. the way we made it not hard was to treat it as a grand adventure, a complete competition, we kept colorful charts up on our refrigerator. We ended up with 3 foot high stack of notebooks filled with every expense down to a stick of gum, we got cookbooks from the library and pennypinching books from the library we incorporated every reasonable cheapskate habit we could. we learned so many life hacks that we continue to use today. we can cook about every cultural food there is practically from scratch now. we shared our journey with everyone. of course, back then everyone thought we were nuts. There was no UA-cam and minimalist lifestyle back then. when we bought our foreclosed condo and paid off the 10 yr mortgage in two years and 11 months, all of a sudden we became the money experts in the family. Our families and friends still live a lifestyle that is more lavish than ours and have significant debt but we have plenty and sleep peacefully. The Yolo lifestyle just became so meaningless and shallow to us over the years. The pleasure of our charity work now is beyond measure.

I chose to quit my job because my health was compromised trying to care for him at home along with my children. I know I made this decision on purpose because I felt God was calling me to trust in his providence. I am mortgage free , no car payment. I’m only 61 and I had to go on SSDI,I’ve been working on trying to find ways of alternative income. Gods Word is powerful,and he calls us to trust when we don’t have definitive direction. Well all i know is that you cannot go wrong taking profit at near high. No one ever went broke taking a 10% loss. It's best if you consult with a fiduciary advisor to get informed buying & selling decisions

    • @judynewsom1902
      @judynewsom1902 5 місяців тому +2

      De-risk your portfolios, shore up your core holdings, and take some profits while balancing your portfolio allocations. I’d also suggest you go with a managed portfolio, but even those don’t perform so well, so it’s best you reach out to a proper fiduciary to guide you, that’s what works for my spouse and I. We've made over 80% capital growth minus dividends.

The type of car I drive does not dictate my worth. If I focus on what makes me happy and not someone else I can succeed. I'm 26 and not in any debt. Cars are a necessity in some cities. The US is sprawling and most cities have awful public transit. That said, the type of cars they choose to make and buy could absolutely be more economical
      I'm in Canada and had to move to be on a bus route for my husband's job (very few jobs in his career) and I had to change my job, thankfully there was something in my career in walking distance. Would've been a 3h walk (there was no bus at the needed times, would've been a 130 minute bus ride if there was) to his job at our old place (5min car ride) and 95min for my old job at our new place (20m drive), each way. When I was going to school, I bussed and ended up skipping classes or taxiing at least once a week despite being at the bus stop 2h before class (for a 15min bus ride on a bus that was supposed to come every 20min) because the scheduled buses just didn't show up or were full and passed me

    It’s unfortunate that for a company as big as Ramsey to charge individuals annually to utile budgeting app and resources. There are probably many individuals that could benefit from these resources to help them get started on the financial journey but if they are already living paycheck to paycheck the likelihood of them paying annually for a budgeting app and resources are slim.

    For those who may be wondering about bills that peak and troph like for electricity in winter vs summer… I have found that using my MAXIMUM bill for the year is my budget every single month that way there are never surprises. But the amount isn’t so substantially off that it takes away from money that you could be throwing at debt. For example my winter electricity bill is about $90 right now and during the summer it hits about $195, and so every month my electricity allocation is $200. I’m not sure this is the exact “Ramsey way” because imagine they would want that extra $110 during the winter month should go toward debt, but this helps create consistency for me and it has worked for me. This year I will be debt free aside from my house. I appreciate The Ramsey Show, Dave, and every one of the personalities so much. Sincerely, thank you.

    We did our best with what we could. We have seven children. Started listening when they were very young. Had only one income our entire marriage of 27 years. Didn’t think we could ever do it but tried to live frugally every way we could. All of a sudden…. 18 years later, our second and last home is paid off just before thanksgiving last year. We didn’t do the baby step things in order.. sorry Dave. We couldn’t ever invest. But we paid a regular tithe and fast offering every single month. We scrimped. We saved. I did everything at home to make each dollar stretch. Hung clothes on a line. Gardened. Canned food. Kids were not enrolled in extra curricular activities. We didn’t do vacations. We kept all our debts to a minimum. Christmases and birthdays were always very small. It was usually only our house debt because I hated car loans. But it was totally worth it. I will never have a loan ever again. Now we are just trying to save like mad and build up our emergency fund … a little difficult with inflation but doing our best to do what we can. Thanks. Each time I felt like quitting inwould listen to your cheetah and gazelle analogy and would get fighting mad about debt and would do all incould to get rid of the debt.

    I am realizing that not only do I need to do a monthly budget but when I go to spend that money on groceries we need to plan out that budget our meals for the week which can be a challenge. Especially when we are constantly on the go. One thing I plan to start doing is using cash instead of my debit card(leave it at home) because instead of us sticking to that set amount we are more likely to go over it but with cash only I stick to my budget way better. The app and Ramsey plus has helped us payoff over $53,000 (50%of our debt) and our entire Wedding was paid for in Cash. This year we are determined to get completely out of debt but a few tweaks are needed still and going directly to cash on those flexible costs like groceries and gas I think might help us.
