- Every year I try to get in a few controlled burns on different areas of my property. I rotate different sections of land that I burn every year. In Oklahoma we have a problem with eastern red cedar and fire is the easiest way to control them when they are small.

My dad used to do control burns every spring or late fall. Sure brought back a lot of memories of him in better days. Now he is sick with dementia and I sure do miss my dad. Anyway, great way to renew the land and take care of old dead trees.
Wow ..Did that bring back memories. When I was little, like your Austin's age or a tad bit older, we would visit my Grandparents in SE Kansas at Easter time. My Grandpa would do a controlled grass burn. Then years later when I lived in KC and headed through eastern Kansas, and I got to see the controlled burn of the Flint Hills - impressive! Thanks for sharing and for the memory recall. :)
+usakiwi5222 Your welcome.
I've decided to go back and watch all your videos from the beginning
Thank you for this great video. Fun fun with the burn!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That also burns up all the small limbs and down trees so they don't accumulate and create a huge forest fire if they get started burning from some natural source. Small control fires are kind of a defense against big forest fires.
That's another reason why I do it.
Short hair Houston! our property in California is restricted by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. They even call "Spare the Air" days where you can't even have a fire in your fireplace! So glad to be getting out of California and moving to Idaho where we can control the weeds with controlled burns and not have to use chemicals.
Wranglerstar would like this one! Fun video
+dirtpatcheaven Thanks! It does seem up his alley.
they love the new green shoots
Great burn I hate when you get all the scrub brush growing up and prickers. Do you do it every year
+Lumnah Acres I burn some every year but most places get rotated and burned every 2-3 years. I do burn my pond dams every year though. I like to keep them nice and clean.
how do u keep that from getting out of hand,,what safety precautions do u take?
Timing is the biggest part. I make sure to do it when the wind is just right. I also spend a lot of time putting in fire lines with my tractor and leaf blower. I can use the leaf blower in the timber to blow a path about 10 ft wide down to bare dirt. Sometimes I'll take the tractor and till up a path to stop it around the edges of the fields.
thanks
That's how the Oregon stand-off began.
+BitFan no its not, they were burning evidence brah, do some more homework and don't believe all the alternative hype. read the court documents... they admitted to their crimes and went to jail.
Do you still do these control burns? Cool video
wow that was fun. thanks brah.
That was impressive :)
Thanks
what were you spraying. desiel?
+Lumnah Acres Yeah I mix diesel with just a little gas. When I work for the national park service we used the same mix in a drip torch. The drip torch is a much better and safer option but the are a little pricey so I use a had sprayer.
+Arms Family Homestead ....Had to take a double take on that video. When I first looked at it I thought you had a propane torch. I use a Torch to kill weeds.
