Cool restoration and thanks for sharing, I worked on a 1940's era cast iron Sea Serpent fountain that was a similar process and it worked out really well.
This was AWESOME!! Not sure where you folks found that piece but she is stunning. I had to laugh because I just picked up a cast iron mermaid for my sweetheart in Newport. This instructional was excellent. Beautiful job & thanks so much for sharing!
What is the coating you put on to give it that black sheen? I have restored cast iron before, but just put WD 40 on it to stop it rusting, but it does not give it the cool dark colour you managed to achieve.

Such a nice piece. Came for the method, but honestly the piece steals the show
Cool item. I believe this is a fish bowl stand.

Thanx! My wife found her at the annual "Largest Garage Sale in the World" Warransberg, NY.

Just 2 coats clear laquer
A little more detain on the wiring hook up would be cool. Like what did you hook the neg wire to? The item being cleaned?
The positive lead goes to the cathode, the negative lead goes to the piece being cleaned. Like in the picture.
Wow she's beautiful.
