It just makes me smile to think of all the old country and folk stars who would appreciate Tallest Man on Earth as good traditional rootsy music amongst so much overproduced mainstream crap today.
TheJoeFrom1993 Though I don't like his new album, I couldn't possibly call it overproduced or mainstream. FAR from it. In fact, the production quality is just now for the first time in any of his records, moderately good. And in no way was it geared towards the mainstream. I found the new record to lack catchy songs, which I've found on all his records. Not to mention he's on the same label, and it's the same guy. And I saw him last week. As usual for him, the new stuff sounds much better live as it does on the record. Certainly not a mainstream artist. That's a ridiculous notion.
@GabrielBacon a burger is the perfect trophy for any man. But this is not just any man. Give this man a burger he'll never forget. Because I will never forget this man's music.
i just saw him play the other night @ highline ballroom.. first thing i said when i saw him standing outside before the show was "hm, he's not that tall." he's like 5'8"
Some of the most gifted and talented musicians use open tuning all the time and its not how good you can play the fucking guitar anybody can play the guitar well, if they practiced, its creating the sound and the lyrics to come out sounding prefect together and this guy is a good fucking songwriter @sixstringCM06 so piss off open tuning is just a way to find new sounds for talented musicians to experiment with.
Sounds like he's censoring himself here; in the EP recording of this song he sings "I see Jesus and Judas making love", a radical thing to say in any era. Here he swaps the line for something I can't catch, smirking when he does it, maybe a private joke with himself and whoever else may have caught it.
Okay, so maybe it's not a clawhammer part. Either way, I haven't ever really seen anyone play in this style; he's strumming with the nails of some fingers, plucking strings with others, and thumb picking the bass line. He's like some kind of modern twenty-something Son House. Ridiculous.

Noah McDaniel his new album is overproduced mainsteam crap, today.

TheJoeFrom1993 the guy deserves the right to make whatever kind of music pours out of his heart and lungs and finger tips. IMHO

His moniker should be "The Greatest Musician To Ever Live". He doesn't look too tall, but the aforementioned name would suit him really well.
i just saw him play the other night @ highline ballroom.. first thing i said when i saw him standing outside before the show was "hm, he's not that tall." he's like 5'8"
@TwoCamelsLeft yeah, you're right - i actually didn't realize 5'8 isn't that short.. how ironic!

@TheThingThatThinged here he says Jesus and Judas are out here of course.. but thats not the original lyrics
He's fuckin' playing clawhammer banjo on the guitar. WTF? Awesome. Is there anything this dude can't do?

@benjibarr b/c they don't understand REAL craftsmanship when they hear it.unfortunately.
Am i the only one noticing his extremely thin limbs? EEEkkk!!
i wonder why he didnt have the balls to say his original blasphemous line about Jesus live? hmmm
