Reaper/Ableton user here and I think I found my new favorite podcast. It’s like finally finding your people talking your language. Thank you all involved in this ❤🔥🙏🏼
This podcast is one of the rawest realest radest ones out there. Showing love from Canada ! Ay I just built a home studio this past year and finally living my dream, like you was talking about having a place to just go and record - it isn't if it's when ! Just gotta stay focused on what matters most, bring in that dough and not let the rest of the world bring you down. Stay blessed, SH!ELD🛡️
LJ def got caught lacking. Don’t know if u read the comments LJ but I’m the one who recognized you in the Guitar Center in Brooklyn. Like I said I’m no longer in the music like you guys but still love audio and watching you guys talk about everything so is dope to watch.
22:09 YES! I used to have my bands In-Ear Monitors and the Crowd Mics set up this way. All 4 of us had in ears in, stereo mixes with the X32 Then we had 2 sm57s in an X pattern infront of the stage. We had it set up to automatically turn the crowd mics OFF when the backing tracks from the TrackBook start playing.
Nah bruh, first vid I'm watching here. It's the way y'all speak about it that y'all have your heart on your sleeves about this shit. You mean it, you live it, and you're all very authentic. I fuck with y'all. Thanks for this insight fr
Watched a couple of Help Me Devvon vids in the past, for years now. Great stuff.. but I only just stumbled across the Audio Nerds Podcast today and I've literally been sipping tea and binging episodes the entire day and taking notes from different episodes. AMAZING Stuff
A hidden Gem for pro tools users for the reverse reverb effect...open "DVerb" go to the part of the vocal you want to apply effect (works best on vowels ) click the end of the "vowel" hold shift and click the space before the vowel (depends on how long you want the reverb tail) highlighting the vowel and space before where the effect will start...then at the bottom of "DVERB" click reverse , then pull back the audio of the vocal clip and blend in the effect 💎
When it comes to less it more it does make a difference for sure. I have an analog outboard vocal chain that I put together (preamp, eq, compressor, eq, compressor) so now when I track vocals all I’m doing is some multi band compression in post and then it’s effects and automation. The process is so much faster now.
First time watching an actual episode instead of just the short. Loved this convo and THANK you for shouting out Simone Torres, I searched her right after you mentioned her 🔥
I’m a DJ who only did a little beat making on MPC a couple years ago, but dropped it focus on DJing. Half the stuff y’all talk about on the pod I have no clue what y’all are referring to but it’s fun to watch and hear y’alls perspective on music. The topics are for a niche audience but the way y’all present it has mass appeal.
Yooo ya’ll gotta vibe more to your own music during these shows, the vibe is absolute🔥 I love your artistic sides, ya’ll crazy entertaining and fun to listen to!
yall do that all engineers first team, and im telling you rn, the engineering community is gon turnt up. in a great way. they will put more respect on the engineers just like they do producers
if yall managed to get Bruno Mars on the pod somehow that would be my favorite episode EASY. The way I wish I understood his creation process so much deeper is crazy.
I think you guys should get Big KRIT on the podcast. Extremely dope artist who also engineers others and himself as well produces his own music. He fits the bill in all areas of music
I really don't comment as much as I should but I watch every episode. Bringing artist on the show would be a huge game changer. As an artist who records and mixes myself, I'd love to hear from others who do the same. Ariana Grande, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Future all track themselves. Chris Brown has a very fast paced workflow, etc ect. It would be nice to see the strengths and weaknesses of certain types of artist in there creative environment
Phil Beaudreau would be a great guest! Artist, engineer, musician, and pure genius. Never gets interviews. Go listen to his song Dreams We Share if you never heard any of his stuff. He also works with legends on regular
I had the same idea of sidechaining but with guitar because I've making a lot of stuff with guitar and I find guitar so hard often i don't even remember what i played.
Great show live chaining would probably only be possible with some kind of LLM, AI algorithm that makes the cuts sound realistic by generating word falloffs
I feel like this is the first episode these mother fuckers just realized what they got. with this show 🤣 They all three happy as hell just enjoying life. No DAW wars just chilling with they shoes off. lollllll Great episode as aways. Cant wait to see what's next #blessings
Yo we gotta get Melvin from “PRBLM SLVRS” he mixed a lot of Tone Stith’s records , and we all know how beautiful them songs sound and feel . The way his voice cuts through and his backgrounds are pure heaven . Get him on please !!
Hey Devon, help!!! When I make a beat, I make my kick and my bass mono. But when I send the tracks to a new session my kick and bass imports as stereo. Do I have to convert them back to mono or do I just mix them as stereo? I'm using studio one. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Something to consider: realistically, if you had Chris Brown on the pod, that might not go so hot for you, because even if you don't get into the personal stuff, having him on the pod is going to insinuating to some people that you're able to turn a bilnd eye to his controversies. Just something to think about. Hope to see some cool artists on the pod tho

The vocal side chain idea for live performances is 🔥🔥🔥

Yea that "live-chain" idea is genius
That live chaining idea is craaaaaaaaaazy

The word LJ was looking for was captivating. Very captivating 😂
Phil Beaudreau would be a great guest! Artist, engineer, musician, and pure genius. Never gets interviews. Go listen to his song Dreams We Share if you never heard any of his stuff. He also works with legends on regular
Yo Courtney, spill the beans on the background vocals processing bro
I'm a great rapper... but only a studio singer at best.. I'm definitely gonna Live-Chain my vocals from now on.. this was a great tip!!
Yo I have that episode with Simone saved... her process is sooo smooth!
He Wasn't Man Enough is one of the best sounding tracks ever. It's literally my top reference
LJ is beyond genius 🌅 21:03
I had the same idea of sidechaining but with guitar because I've making a lot of stuff with guitar and I find guitar so hard often i don't even remember what i played.
Y’all should make that live chaining a plug-in 💯💯💯
Y’all set up is Godly
About to head to LJ’s UA-cam page to see what audio interface he chose!!
“Live chaining” 🔥
22:58 HMD Rosetta Live Chaining 👀👀👀🔊🔊🔊
Y’all should interview Big Krit on his production/mixing/beat making…
Great show live chaining would probably only be possible with some kind of LLM,
AI algorithm that makes the cuts sound realistic by generating word falloffs
Bro if you get Chris brown on the podcast it’s done deal …best artist you can get on there ,I’d also like to see how Kevin gates sees mixing his music
23:30 That idea is crazy
I feel like this is the first episode these mother fuckers just realized what they got. with this show 🤣 They all three happy as hell just enjoying life. No DAW wars just chilling with they shoes off. lollllll Great episode as aways. Cant wait to see what's next #blessings
Jodeci backing vocals is French kiss “Xs we share and Cry For You”
Diamond member should get a segment on the pod!
Y’all need to get Russ for Courtney on this. He mixed, mastered, and produced his there’s a wolf album.
Y'all should totally have T Pain! I think he'd be game!
If yall get Tpain, That episode would go Superviral!!!
For sure! 💯

Great podcast I watch every single Wednesday! Had a question how do I get in contact with you guys if I want a song mixed?
Hey Devon, help!!! When I make a beat, I make my kick and my bass mono. But when I send the tracks to a new session my kick and bass imports as stereo. Do I have to convert them back to mono or do I just mix them as stereo? I'm using studio one. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Great video and get Timbaland for Ableton
Can you speak on vst installation and if theres services that will do it for you. I have trouble installing new kontakt plugins. #flgang #helpmedevon
Side chain with a gate. I thought about that

Whats the producers name talked about at 33:20 ? Would love to see his content
the quiet moment after live chaining haha. Im a nobody or i would've told you about live chaining haha
Lets Go!
Something to consider: realistically, if you had Chris Brown on the pod, that might not go so hot for you, because even if you don't get into the personal stuff, having him on the pod is going to insinuating to some people that you're able to turn a bilnd eye to his controversies. I’m think the mastering classes are cool, what if I don’t have the same plugins that you use while teaching the class ?
That’s career saving 23:17
Oh it def resonates fr 😂
Early gang gang 💪🏼💪🏼
yal should invite Troy Taylor to the couch 💯
“Live-Chaining!”
“… Aight, we gon work on your marketing” 💀💀
Tyler the creator would be another good one to have on he always talkin about his process
All I do is put a fruity compressor , set it on master 1 setting , and a soft clipper on the master just after the mixdown 😂
