I miss when games weren't all about the graphics, haven't managed to find a good game in a long time because of every company releasing games focused on graphics rather then story
@theboss6616 then why was it called the Ukrainian ssr ? Or was byelorussian ssr Latvia ssr Lithuanian ssr and Estonia ssr not countries either. They where country's but they republics that made up the state of the soviet union. They still had their own cultures languages and differences. I have always wondered how that system operated though.
It’s oddly surprising during the fire fighter scene they shoveled literal lead rods that fell in the ground from the core, stood over top of the actual reactor while still giving off lethal radiation, casually walk through two nuclear fusion reactions which is the blinding bright light which also would kill someone almost instantaneously or give them near seconds to live, Suffer zero radiation burns, and fall near the burning reactor breaking a leg and a few minutes later. Very interesting
This game is a 5.5/10 just because of the good story. There are many bugs and glitches, the voice acting comes straight out of the AI and you walk around 45-50% in a GRU controlled Duga. The last part of the game is also very weird and 4-5 hours is also not very long. To the people that want to play this game: Buy only if it gets a good discount or a good update, otherwise reconsider it. Anyways, I do hope they give this game a good update or an ‘eternal’ mode or something. Maybe even playing as a KGB officer or just different characters.

Actually, it's Chornobyl' on ukrainian, on russian it is Chernobyl' as everybody knows. Some of the Ukrainian cities are known on their russian name instead of ukrainian. Polish developers have chosen the original name of city, because it's more right to be used.
@@cptarianus824 idk, i didn't tried to look at this shit at all. the game is crazily bad. it's much worse than i expected to be. i've fastskipped the video just to see locations. that's not what interest me. i was just talking about the name
1:21:50 Is it imaginable that somebody at that time in the Soviet Union wouldn't have known who Bukharin was? And this takes placewell after Stalin's death and his denouncement by Khrushchev, so it's not like you'd run the risk of getting deleted for mentioning the wrong name. I know who he was, but I'm a Marxist, not Russian/formerly Soviet.
As far as I've read, during and after the Kruschev era there was a gradual rehabilitation of historical members of the party who diverged from Stalin's political line (mainly "socialism in one country"), such as Bukharin, Trotsky, etc.. Mainly because, at that time, the Soviet Union wasn't as politically and economically frail as it was after Lenin's death. When Stalin took command of the USSR, he saw the many divergences in the party as something that would eat itself from inside and allow for easier foreign invasions and/or a new civil war. On Stalin's perspective, that's why the purges took place. With the de-stalinization process and recognition of excesses in the purges, these figures were no longer seen as threats, but probably "dated", as they were pre-WW2 theorists. But yeah, by 1986 they were certainly studied, at least superficially, as historical political figures in the revolution. Even more if you joined communist youth leagues like the Komsomol, where they studied Marxist-Leninist theory and practice. Of course these weren't praised publically like those aligned with Stalin were... but nevertheless seen as important revolutionaries.
The way I see it is: perhaps common working people didn't know exactly who Bukharin was, but might have heard of him. When the disaster happened, almost 62 years had passed since the end of the Russian Civil War, and, apart from academics, party members and people who took interest in historical matters, it might've been uncommon to know all the information we do now, as they had shorter access. This game has anti-communist exaggerations, but it is accurate for the officer to know all that information, since he's probably in the party. In order to be high within the party, it was necessary to have that kind of knowledge of their own country.
Nice propaganda effort, firefighters didn't have gas masks, radiation protection or anything. They didn't even know there was radiations around nor what it can cause to your health. This game just participate to the russian revisionism.
What are you talking about? Firefighters did, indeed, had masks, from stories of who those survived, that they had "10 masks on and due to sweating it was all non-visible". Revisionism? Well, excuse me, who does revisionism when USSR is never mentioned in American books even once while USA and lend-lease is mentioned in Russian books, along with president himself telling everyone "We haven't forgot the help we got from Allied nations in WW2", despite said help was being very little durning the starting stages of the war?
