- The term 'hard man' is used a lot, but if one person defines this phrase then it would be the 16-time #IsleOfMan #TT winner, Ian Hutchinson.
In this video from the recent 2024 launch of the TT Races, #BikeSocial sat down with Hutchy in the Villa Marina cafe on Douglas prom to discuss his recent move back the Milenco Padgetts Racing team, his recovery from suffering a stroke at the start of 2023, how he found out the ACU suspended his racing license and what actually happened in a Macau night club with John McGuinness many years ago.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the video.

What a legend, absolutely no quitting in this chap.
Ian Hutchinson should have EVERYONES eternal respect; what he’s put himself through for motorcycle racing is beyond comprehension.
Proper bloke.
Very humble guy considering what he’s been through in his time to still keep coming back just shows his heart is still in the racing game
Ian has given so much for the pure love of the racing. His determination to race is what makes Ian special.
What an incredible bloke. So brave after everything he has been through.I'd love to see him win some more TTs😀
Great rider and an inspiration to anyone who has injuries or illness. Ian has been through hell and lots more but he keeps coming back. He is one hell of a man. I would never rule him out of any race. Good luck Hutchy for TT 2024.
One of the most determined riders in the world,, really hope he'll do well 🍀🍀🍀🍀 from northern Ireland,, biggest respect 👍👍👍
Probably the most courageous racer out there...
And the competition is formidable! These guys are wired differently.
Best of luck.
yep
Hutchy you are one tough buggar. Best wishes from Australia.
In 2017 i watched the TT for the first time.
The very first rider that flew by on top of Bray Hill was Hutchy.
I could not believe, what i saw . . .
What a man!❤
Unique character Hutchy. Deservedly well loved.
What a lovely bloke, Hutch has nothing to prove to anyone, his T.T. credentials are superb, a fantastic, true racer in the mould of Dunlop, Hizzy, McPint, and many many more!
hope he makes it back to the top for both him and his sponsors padgetts. I have just bought a new bike from them and they're a great company to deal with, every single person i dealt with shows you respect and courtesty, so GL Ian - looking forward to the TT
He was so fast at his best and same as micheal could win on any machine brand
@@CJRSBKThis year is going to be MEGA!!!
@@racinsnake7129 definitely!!
Love Hutchie, he is an absolute pleasure to watch, he never gives up. What a total legend!
This is guy is a top bloke. Chatted to him at Oulton Pak and would love to work with him. Great bloke and a great asset. This guys beyond rocky status
Guy's a legend all the best for 24 bud 🙏🏻
Hear hear
Ian, we live just up the road from you in Bingley, and you're an absolute legend mate.
Its always a pleasure to meet you, and the town is very proud of you.
From DJ to you to Dean Harrison, you've done us proud.
The Great Hutchy ❤🎉 Wish him the best and let's hope for more wins
Total respect for this man! Great guy and fantastic to see him being interviewed and catching up ! Looking forward to seeing Ian in action again.
What a man! So grounded, so logical, such a nutter, hugest respect. Absolute inspiration and he deserves another win. Go Hutchy go!!!!
You've got to admire his determination, it would be incredible to see him back on top form again. I think his logic of being able to quick again makes sense when you consider that 133 from a standing start
Think he is very hard on himself, understand he wants to win , but just being there is a tremendous achievement after what he has been through. Wishing him all the best .
Best of luck to Hutchy for 2024! Huge respect!
Incredible rider and great guy. In a different league these boys. Good luck Hutchy for 24
I’m told I have one of his old bikes. Konica Minolta painted 04 RR fireblade. Legend, bless him
Legend 👍 cant wait to see him fighting for wins at TT again👍👍 GO HUTCHY
His 5 wins in a week was unbelievable, was there at TT to witness it ,what a legend 🏆😍🏆
That incredible achievement alone marks Hutchy out as T.T royalty, but the other 11 wins are the icing on the cake.
A absolute behemoth of a racer.
Very honest and straightforward guy, I hope he does well and stays safe.
Can't wait to see you back Hutchy...
Hope Hutchy gets back and is competitive.Has had so many set backs since he did 5 in a week.Be great to see him back in the mix and happy!
22:01 smooth is fast hutchy ,your the man you can do it lad 👋🤠👍
Such an amazing man. Very brave. Brilliant racer. 💖
Cool fella,gutsy racer,honest on camera.
How he carries on and pushes through adversity is a testament to his character.
Great to see you back Ian. Have fun and ride within your limits this year. Your a inspiration to us all.
What a inspiration is Hutchy. Looking forward to watching him at the TT this year.
Hutchy is an unbelievably determined lad. Pure Yorkshire grit. After all he's been through, he still wants it bad. Hope he does well and gets home safe. Top lad.
Ian Hutchinson Is an inspiration to everyone who knows his story including myself. What a struggle his racing life has been. Never give up never quit. I wish him the best of luck in iomtt2024!😊👍👍👍
Hutchy looks in great condition best wishes to this absolute warrior
Thanks another good one. I would love to see Ian get another win especially given all he has been through. I bet his mum & dad cannot wait for him to retire. Good luck Ian.
Just a side effect? Wow whod had known? Resoect for talking truthfully about this buddy. Good luck this year bro.
Yh big side effect my mum has got myocarditis off that AstraZeneca 🤬
Stoke = Clot shot. Zero doubt.
Much love Ian. Crack it this year brother!
What an absolute inspiration, never gives up
Well done mate! One of the best!
Maybe the best roads rider of all time ,such determination is amazing
What a nice lad wishing him a successful TT
Top guy 🙂👍👊 all the best Hutchy
I don't know how i missed the fact that in 2022 he was riding with an injury. That would explain the poor showing. Let's hope that he'll be at the top of his game this year. The competition at the top is going to be insane. The great thing about the TT is that I want to see them all win races. I have no single favourite, they're all my favourites!
Hutchie is THE dark horse of any years TT ! so humble and quiet, until the visor goes down ! ian’s always fast ! great team around him he'll be there top 5 definitely! .. fyi mountain was amazing here today ! sunshine finally ! roll on 🏍️TT 2024 🏁
Can't wait to get in that cafe!
Looking fit Ian.. Have a good one mate👍🏴
Missed ya ! going to be brilliant to see you back on course best of luck fella
Martin got the airtime, Hutchy did the business...the true SPOTY 2015 Winner, the BBC never awarded!
I would love just 10% of Ian’s grit, determination, talent, positivity and pain threshold and I’d be a happy man, he’s definitely on the super human category. Has he ‘anything to prove’ of course he hasn’t ! absolutely stupid fucking question, bring back Michael Mann please
Agree the “anything to prove” question, made me wince, Ian is the last person on earth with anything to prove. TT legend and a giant inspirationally.
Glad he was able to mention the covid jab and not be censored😊
What a legend hutchy is so glad he’s back looking forward to watching him doing what he’s great at
Love ya Hutchy. Aussie fan.
It's exciting to have him back and Harrison on a new bike,
I'd love to see Hutchy win again. Real nice bloke.
Respect to Ian Hutchinson only guy ever to win five in one week at the TT , to win one even.....2010 what a year, gutted he turned up to Brands in the wet.....bit then to carry on competing with that leg......Hero of mine 👊
Looking forward to seeing Hutchy back on a bike
So are we!
I had no idea Hutchy had suffered a stroke and i wouldn't have guessed if he hadn't said. Sadly, when he did, i guessed the cause straight away. Hope to see him back on the podium soon.
Genuine legend♥️
Absolute beast of a man and world class racer. Would love to see him back on the top step he deserves it! I think we all know where the stroke came from.
Great rider regardless of whatever his results are from now on. Without his awful luck imagine what Hutchy would have achieved.
Fingers crossed for Hutchy in 24.
I had one astrazenica injection and I've never suffered from any heart problem but now get irregular heartbeat all the time and palpitations I've been waiting for 2 years now to see a heart specialist but my appointments been cancelled 4 times it's the NHS for you not the doctors and nurses but the government
Love hutchy great rider joint favourite of mine with micheal Dunlop.
Good luck and stay safe 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Incredible man amazing determination 💪
like it Kidd the boyz quality 🔥💯💪🏻
I wonder if hutchy sang that background music at the start to Clive to help seal the deal
Legend. Enough said
Hope hutchy does well this year
What a legend
Go Hutchy Go!!!
Safe and effective. My arse. Best wishes and a safe tt to ian and all competitors
Best wishes..
I hope he can get his times and it not he's one of very few to have won at the isle of man I think under 30 racers have won the senior , it's a pretty exclusive club and for good reason these are the best natural , skilled riders in the world bar none :-) :-)
Good ol Hutchy. What a Legend. Hutchy and John Mc Guiness, couple of nutters 🤣
He such a , likable guy hope he does well
In a few years I expect stroke rates will rise. My brother was hospitalised with COVID never had a vaccination and had an enormous stroke. He died a year ago, about 8 months after his stroke. Strokes are a known side effect of having Covid as it can affect your heart.
Condolences for losing your brother.
May I ask his age and was he otherwise in good health?
1 in 28 injured by the safe and effective excess deaths still creeping up🤔
@@waynesstuffjones4208 where did you get that information, that means I in 28 of 3 billion worldwide. You are making up numbers. Excess deaths are rising? Where is that data from. The latest from Gov.uk shows it as falling. This is from Jan 2023 to Feb 2024. In fact from June 2023 to Feb 2024 it’s fewer deaths than expected. This is for England. Data available from Gov.uk, Excess Mortality Within England: Post Pandemic Method. Let’s see what official notifications your data comes from.
Strokes and heart attacks are a known side effect of having had the covid jab, but god forbid anyone blame the dodgy vaccine.
I had Covid. Was Hospitalised in ICU for about 6 weeks. Not a good experience fortunately not vented . One thing the Drs were most worried about was getting blood clots mainly in the lungs Although they were scanning for vascular clots also. I was not jabbed. That said I have heard plenty people that have been Jabbed that have had strokes , Heart attacks , Brain bleeds etc. some say Covid was not real and a Plandemic but I have to say from first hand experience it was real enough to me . Plenty folk not well these days Covid or the Jab ? I know not and neither does anyone else. Good luck to Hutchy he’s a Warrior. I wish him good fortune and Success 👍💪🏴
As Ian said General Anaesthetic is something to be avoided like waking up in Hospital generally, unless you consider the alternative. The IoM TT and Superbike racing have made massive strides in emergency care medicine through the hard work and dedication of those responsible over the last decades, without which the sport we love would not continue. I thank them all for a job well done.
Interesting to hear Ian's experience with brain injury as that's very different than the physical injuries that coming off bikes can cause. The capacity of the brain to adapt is amazing but it is still one of the least understood organs and getting support with brain injury is hard for that reason. Helmets are important.
The modern approach to surgical operations does consider all the risks to the patient, including the cardiology and the risk of clots. So it's routine to have anti-coagulant medicine to reduce the risk of clotting despite the additional work that can cause in theatre. I can say from personal experience that you don't want to wake up in a Stroke Ward wondering HTF did I get here. Unless you consider the alternative.
I'm so glad that Ian has been able to ride again, and wish him every success with Padgetts Racing..
Not once do you address the elephant in the room!
@@savagehamzter8850 Elephant?!
Brilliant 👍
Is he vaxed? So many are having heart and stroke issues after vax
Yep
11mins in, have a listen
Astra Zenica. That's the one Ian had.
Well we now know it’s not a conspiracy theory, data backs it up and the withdrawal of Astra Zenica is the biggest scandal ever ….. not to be a scandal !

@12:05 ... in order to be more precise.
It was 5 in a week when it actually meant something too. The amount of big races now opens up the door for that to be done again, and it just won't be as special regardless IF it happens. When Ian did it, it was the fact there were only five main races and he cleaned up. 2010 will always be the year it was done properly. I've often wondered where he'd be, wins wise by now without his injuries. If he'd won 'only' another 12 in the years since, he'd be on 28. But we could say the same for DJ too, Dave had many years of success lined up.
The guy has the heart of a lion!
Glad hutchy is being able to get back on bikes, no mention of if he will be doing the north west 200!?
Top lad. Still a bright future
Without that terrible day at Silverstone he'd of racked the wins up at the island
If any can it’s hutchy ❤
I’m a chump this great will always be a Champ
Ian is an example to anyone that has had an injury, far less than what Ian has been through, most people would go and lie in a corner and whinge....
You will love it getting out on 2 wheels it’s so therapeutic. I’m a born again rider and have gone from a 500 to a 650 and just got a Kawasaki Z900RS .
You’ll have no trouble getting your full license as you have road craft in abundance being a truck driver.
Keep us updated how you get on . Also follow the Missenden Flyer and others relating to bikes on UA-cam .
Yorkshire lad END OF!!!
Imo Hutchy would have broke dunlops race wins record if it wasn't for his poor luck with injurys etc . He was the 1 raising the bar before hicky took over he was doing 133 avg lap on the stocker over 5 years ago . Good luck Ian for this year will be down at padgetts after TT to see bikes like I did in your record year no.4 fireblade
How impressive is it to hear Ian acknowledge the high probability that his covid jabs had a lot to do with him having his stroke.
That takes courage.
And, for God's sake, never have one again.
The TT is safe and effective
It's interesting how he alluded to the jab and then the possible effects when you then get C19. WTF is the jab for, then?!
The bionic man 👍😇👊
I don't know why, but I've got a really bad feeling about the TT '24. PLEASE PLEASE, all come back safely. God bless you all.
The weather will probably be awful after last years perfect weather
I'm 2 years on from a stroke still can't use my left arm, can't walk properly, not all strokes are the same
