  • The methods and locations are different when it comes to Fishing for speckled trout in the colder months. In this video I have ‪@southernsalt‬ joining me again on the boat and I discuss Lure color selection and retrieval speeds that work best for this time of the year, at least for me. All my fish were caught on the Lil Slick Mad mullet color as well as the chartreuse.

    I enjoyed the night fishing/dock lights video you did. I know it's not the easiest to shoot with the lighting but they are entertaining.

      Me too! I get lazy this time of the year and don’t feel like hunting down or buying bait, plus plastics are more fun to catch them on. Thanks, more to come!

    I caught a 8 lb speck down in SW Florida one time that had eaten a 15 inch 1 lb mullet. After that I never worry about using too big a bait.

    • @CaptCollier
      @CaptCollier  2 роки тому

      Yep thats crazy! I never worry about my bait or lure being to big because ive cleaned so many trout with 5-12" finfish stuffed in there bellies regularly

    Really enjoy ur videos, I also like the way u put an audio clip explaining lure selection. Quick question what type of top water lure would u suggest for going after trout or reds, some of the places I fish are about a foot and half to 2 foot of crystal clear water.

    • @CaptCollier
      @CaptCollier  2 роки тому

      Thanks, I’d like to start adding to voice over from time to time to really explain what’s going on more in depth. For reds, I like a red head/white body or just a bone white. For specks in clear water I’d go with a bone white or silver color. Brighter colors usually work better when the sun is up and bright. Hope this helps

    Made 2 trips last week . 1st trip I caught 17 trout not 1 keeper.
    2nd trip I caught probably 40 something and had 2 keeper trout.

    Hey man, i live in NC and was wondering if january is a good time to catch speckled trout. Ive tried a bunch of things and cant get into them.

    • @CaptCollier
      @CaptCollier  6 місяців тому

      idk about up there, but January and February can be tough at times. The low water temps sometimes get the fish lethargic, but they have to eat at some point! just gotta be in the right place at the right time throwing the right bait Lol
