Seeing Rex trying to beat Scott's record has me chuckling, and it's also great to see both engines on display alongside each other near the end. Happy 100th Anniversary to both of them!
Tbh, i can get Rex, its your 100th and not being adknowledged can be a spit in the face. In real life, people who reach a special point at their age and doesnt get acknowledged can hurt them in some way.
This goes to show that when you let your jealousy get the better of you, you end up making silly decisions that usually don’t end well. And that is a fact.
Rex getting his own episode is a delight to see. I loved how he shares the same birthday age as the Flying Scotsman. His little plan to get himself as good as Flying Scotsman was silly. I loved the William Tell Overture theme that was used in that scene. But it was nice to see Rex admit his mistake and make his promise to not do something as silly as that again. Is that Murdoch in green livery at the end before we see Flying Scotsman reverse next to Rex?
It’s easy to say that Mike would fit this role but the problem with that argument is that his basis isn’t anywhere close to 100 years old hence Rex says he’s 57 because like River Mite, Mike’s basis, he wasn’t built until 1963: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravenglass_and_Eskdale_Railway_locomotives#River_Mite Besides why can’t Rex have a bit of a jealous side?
Tbh I get why Rex would feel this way. When I was turning 11 nearly everyone forgot my birthday in favor of our teachers who happened to have a birthday a few days later. At the end of the day one of my classmates came to me and said something that felt like a slap to the face. And that was “happy birthday, now can you help us plan her party”

this was cute
I feel like Mike should have had this role because Rex kinda looks out of character in this episode.

Murdoch in BR Green or Evening Star in the background at Tidmouth?
Murdoch
I thought rex was built in the 50s
Mike is the youngest, built in m 1966
Burt was build in 1894 and was rebuilt in 1973
Rex was built in 1923. They are all extremely different in age.
