Love your analysis of this wonderful album, the emotional connections with Blue Rev are undeniable & only grow stronger & more tightly bonded over time. Nobody mentions The Feelies in trying to relate the influences & similarities to past bands when describing Alvvays & I have to thank you for that, it's such an obvious through line along with Teenage Fanclub, R.E.M., The Smiths, Jesus & Mary Chain, Ride & My Bloody Valentine that it's surprising more people haven't recognized how much in parallel the two groups are with complexity by way of simplicity & making classic sounds, styles & vibes into something modern & unique. For me & my relationship to Blue Rev, the pinnacle of all of it & the sonic & thought provoking experience is Many Mirrors, I could & have played it for over an hour & still wanted to hear it again for every second of cathartic beautiful bliss. I'm really glad Alvvays is being seen for their abilities & masterful skills in songcrafting, arranging & playing & will definitely be following wherever the fourth lp leads.

Black Country, New Road’s Ants From Up There is my favorite album of the year, BUT Blue Rev is my second favorite album of the year and both albums are not only the best two albums of the 2020s so far, but are both instant all-time great classic albums for sure! Blue Rev is the best blissfully hook-based album, and Molly Rankin just cranks out amazing perfect hooks! 🖤🤍🔥
Side note: One of my favorite music ranking and reviewing YT channels is Tastes Like Music, formally known as Listography, with hosts Jason Reis (the founder), Joe Steigerwald, and Ryan Kramzer, and I was surprised to find out that Joe fell in love with it, listened to it 12 times in a row, and gave it 5/5 stars. Same!
