Anybody else just look up 'Ramen' because they really want some?
The way he did the ramen with the egg yolk spilled out actually does make the yolk delicious to slurp together with the soup.. Good job :-)
Oh my lord every bowl of ramen looked sooo good! I want some real ramen now!!!
neeeeed some right now.
Looks so damn good...
The white guy with glasses can't slurp lol
yeah, slurping makes sense. i think the faster and efficient way to transfer the hot noodles into mouth!
@odinzan You have to come to NYC (if you're not there already). Quite a few Ramen shops around.
makes sense
2:50 omg hes the guy from the last samurai, katsumoto!
There are some Japanese elders who do enjoy hearing a good slurp!
i love how they showed Ken Watanabe
i wish there was a ramen shop somwhere in the midwest :-(
A bit odd for a video called "Ramen 101" to not explain what ramen is for those who are unfamiliar with it.
But the video did nothing to even describe what makes up a "standard" bowl of ramen: The base seasoning (miso vs. soy sauce vs. salt, etc.), the base broth (chicken, pork, etc.) the noodles, and some standard possible toppings (hard/soft-boiled egg, nori, bean sprouts, chashu [pork slices], fish cake), just to name a few. This explanation should most certainly have been in a video alluding to be an introduction to Japanese ramen.
@1337squirrel the reason why nothing was explained as far as the actual ramen bases and toppings and stuff like that itself is because of you read the video description underneath the title of the video youll see its about the RAMEN CULTURE OF TOKYO and not a guide TO tokyo ramen lol i hope it clears that up for you guys and helps out dudes
give me 1 of those!!
even i gotta say that pork ramen looks delicious...and im a pretty picky eater...nothing fancy, just a real good broth, noodles, maybe some meat...gotta try it...
i wish we had ramen places here on Sweden :(
I once slurp til the noodle hit my girl's face, totally worth it.
Yeah, that's right
@odinzan where do you live ? if you live in the urban areas..you can find somehwhere.
So yummy
I didn't know Ramen was so popular

Hey, where's the close-up of Matt slurping?
oh you didn't see?...i spotted him at 2:59....;)

I AM CHINESE. The instant ramen and realy ramen is different thing. ramen is from china to spread ,chinese called lamian and because the japanese high gdp so make it very expansive ,but chinese lanzhou lamian is famous and delicious
おいしそう^^
I prefer dry instant shin ramen.

:(
@KatiushaVN4 we've already past that age.these days everybody can eat anything.
bcoz there r things in this world thats just better than burgers.
Ivan's pork is kosher
@TicTacToe0124 about 500-700 yen
ca donne faim. il y en a sans porc?? Does it exist ramen without porc?? I tried a ramen restaurant in Paris next to Opera Garnier but none of them was without porc. Finally I ate something else which was delicious but not ramen. Snif snif!
ramen = oishi desu!!!
Slurping is never for appreciation.
It is only for avoiding your tongue getting burnt and for bettr taste as somlier sip for tasting wines.
Why the hate?
I can agree ramen isn't healthy in the sense that it could be consumed every day. But if the ingredients that go in are made from the best ingredients and organic, daily consumption of the stuff wouldn't be nearly as bad as say, daily consumption of McDonalds.
Your opinion is right.
However, Udon and Soba also choosable In Japan.
Both wonderfully delicious traditional Japanese healthy noodle.
Personally, I can eat Soba every day .
i thought that too, and different recipes use different ingredients
@@syakugannoikamusume Yes, of all the "traditionally Japanese" noodle iterations, buckwheat soba is the one I can eat day in day out. It's all I want to eat in summer.
you didn't show naruto
do you think the NYT would be there if it wasn't Jewish owned?
Sasha
by cheap, what do they mean? can any1 give me an average price in yen?
Udon noodles taste better.
aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd now im hungry.
im here because of naruto
I still prefer Vietnamese Pho over Ramen.
It's great that both dishes exist!
A jewish guy owns a ramen shop in tokyo? That's AWESOME!
im hungieee :(
@LiqwidNiTRO humans are designed to be omnivores
When Europeans eat Japanese Ramen, they don't make slurp sound to eat. But then the ramen is getting cold or low temperature. Eating Ramen must be quick eating. Because high temperature and real nice taste can not separate each other. So the slurp eating is needed for
high temperature ramen. If you are big gourmet, you should eat Ramen with slurp sound. But it is not easy task for Europeans. You should train to eat slurp eating. But don't make noise too much. Observe eating Ramen of Japanese.
RIP Brittany Murphy
jews rock... str8 up
"Guide to Tokyo ramen: Here's a white guy making non-traditional ramen!"
you need to see other documentaries about ivan. i had the same initial reaction when i saw a white guy cooking ramen, but he's actually legit.
He's not white, he's jewish. Make sense since it's the NYT.
It is traditional.
ivan orkin was a french chef. he's a well respected, successful ramen guy in japan. moved to nyc to open up a respected, successful ramen shop, for clueless people like you to eat and slurp.
Could you define "traditional ramen", and how his ramen somehow doesn't qualify?
it's funny when people want to act like there so into a culture they go overboard with every aspect, like slurping in other countries slurping is just not something you do at dinner or lunch we are taught from a young age it's not polite so yes if your in Japan then slurp away even though you still won't blend in but in England or America act normal unless you want everyone looking at you funny ,and yes in Japan it's a sign of good cooking to the chef but not here ... but dam I could go for a bowl of pork belly ramen with a soy egg
Who cares how other people look at you? They're noobs. You slurp so the hot noodles don't burn your mouth. and because biting your noodles is for noobs.
+Kayvon Touran what he said
i prefer slurping. i dont need scientific research, it just feels right. especially with the hot noodles.
hey, in other countries incest is ok and/or still practiced. which means telling a person slurping is wrong is.. you get the point.
"act normal," stop being so uncultured.
+Jesslee Tumamao : In fact, there was already a research about ramen slurping. I watched it at a TV show, *Begin Japanology*.
then dont watch it no one likes complainers
Lol. "Ramen 101", yet it taught us absolutely nothing. And why is that white Jew the number one representative of ramen in almost every video I watch on the topic?
Because 5 years ago most of the English speaking UA-cam didn't know who else to talk to. If you watch Japanese TV shows and videos, obviously they showed other ramen-ya owners as well.
