I want 4 hrs of coronation cos of all the pagentry and music.
Same here. I understand they wanted to reduce the length of the coronation, a little bit, or at least King Charles dead, but I still think one hour is way too short. If they really think they can’t keep the attention of the public for more than an hour, then there really is no point. It could seriously be a minimum of two hours. Who knows how much is being removed that none of us have previously witnessed in full resolution before that would’ve been in the coronation. Who knows, if it really is going to be just one hour this time, perhaps William will want to have it a little bit longer again to restore some aspects of it.
It’s all about the money… less time cost less. King Charles has been cutting costs since he became king.
I agree 1000 years of tradition. That's what I would have love to see.
@@bridgwll true but one can wish
I can go eight
I could listen to Professor Williams all day! I love the programs that she’s narrated and the knowledge she contributes in her interviews.
I think I almost through every history hits show she has been on.
Will you consider doing a recap of the coronation, teaching us about moments we may have overlooked?
Thank you so much for having Dr, Williams on. She's so knowledgeable, you two have a wonderful interaction.
Julie, you asked terrific questions! Kate’s responses were informative and very interesting. I have watched a few videos on the coronation and you can tell some people have not done their research. I am looking forward to more of your videos on the coronation, because I know you do your research very very well! I hope I get to see you on the coronation day. I only have UA-cam, but I hope I can find you. Love from Vermont
I'm glad you'll be attending as part of the media. Looking forward to it!
I just bought tickets 🎫 to go today from the US I am so excited and this is so helpful thank you ladies, Julie I ❤💯👏your work 🙏🙏🙏
Two of my favorite British ladies!
I just love your beautiful green coat. You look splendid.
Thank you Julie and Kate. So interesting! 🥰🇨🇦
Kate is my favorite British historian.
Thanks Julie for sharing such great content 🙂
Yes, Kate Williams is great. Love her demeanor as she relays her vast knowledge.
This was so interesting! As always, articulate, knowledgeable and respectful. I loved your interview with Dr Williams!
I love Kate Williams...thank you for including her on this episode. Always enjoy your posts! Looking forward to next weekend!
Fascinating chat. Joined HHouses last week and our first visit will be to Mapperton 👍
This was so lovely, fun and fascinating, Julie! Thank you both for this special video... Im American also and I adore the Monarchy, super excited!!! ✨🌟✨
Loving this so far! Definitely getting excited for next weekend! Bravo, Julie and Kate!
What an absolute privilege. One feels honoured to hear Princess Anne share such intimate yet historic moments of her life. Incredible. 🙏👑❤️
What ?. Professor Williams is being featured on this amazing channel.
I love the Professor and have been following her for years.
This is a confirmation that this channel is the BEST ❤
Thanks so much for all the details! Can’t wait! 👏👏👏👍😊🙏
As always, well done! FYI, Allan Barton explains the how and why of the coronation .
Great to get the American perspective x great interview, great information
Thank you, Julie, for priming us. Kate was excellent in telling us about details to look for. The gold and silver crowns, for example and how they come to play. Hope to see you next Saturday. I will definitely be tuning in from NHampshire. You Tube in the meantime...
I can’t wait to see if you are there Julie… I hope you cover The Coronation👏🏻🇺🇸
So interesting! Looking forward to the vlog with your father-in-law.
Love this ❤ and Kate Williams. I have watched her history specials love them. Thank you ladies
Thank you Julie. Very interesting and informative. And nice to hear from Kate Williams.
This was fun to watch and adds to the excitement of the Coronation! I'm looking forward to being glued to my tv all day or as long as it takes to watch the whole thing on May 6th! I was planning to make Coronation Quiche for the day but my oven broke. Hopefully we'll have it repaired by the big day.
Great chat thank you.
I want the whole 4 hours. I want to see the glitz and glamour the robes pageantry ALL OF IT. We might not see another.
It would be shocking if reality closely resembles the plans. I think at the most rapid pace it will go for at least two hours. Thanks to modern technology, after the event is over, one can re-watch, slow it down or stop as often as one likes.
Here's hoping 🏴🏴
I can’t wait to see the Coronation a king and his queen love all the royal splendour majesty🌟👌Kate Williams fascinating historian I learnt so much Julie always a well imformed articulate interviewer I shall be ready with quiche and salad and a glass of bubbly Thankyou Julie look forward to the Mapperton Live announcement have a fabulous weekend 💖💖😘😘👌👌🌟🌟
Thank you Kate and Julie 😘 This was so interesting and a great lead up to next next week’s Coronation- I’m getting excited 👑🇦🇺
Can't wait to see my 23rd cousin King Charles and his Queen crowned! I saw his mother's coronation as a small girl and was mightily impressed. Long live the King!
Love this episode. So informative. Thank you Julie and Kate. Looking forward to seeing history and hearing what Julie’s father in law has to say 😍😘
Great guest, she's always so fascinating.
Great history on Coronation!!! Will be watching this Historical Event:)
You are such a great interviewer! Thank you!
I'm serving High Tea on Coronation Day, crowns / tiaras optional 😊
Sadly we won’t see the Peers paying homage to the King this time, just the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Prince of Wales and then the Homage of the People that we are all invited to join in with.
I wonder if the extra 1 at the late Queens Coronation might have been the then Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall? 🤴🏻👸🏼👑🇬🇧🏴
Oh my gosh this is awesome!!!! As an American, I always wanted to meet some British historians.
William the Conqueror was crowned even quicker than mentioned. Although the Battle of Hastings was in October, the English did not formally surrender until early December 1066 at Wallingford. The coronation took place no more than an month later on January 6th 1067, the old Christmas Day.
Gosh! Your info is so interesting! Plus, I've listened to Dr. Williams before - a truly impressive historian. It was nice learning from your interaction.
There have been 62 monarchs of England and Britain spread over a period of approximately 1200 years.
Oh so much to look forward too. Julie will your whole family be present in London for the coronation?
Plan to get up at o dark early to watch, I’m on the west coast of the US.
That was cute, someone cut the lights on while you were talking outside of Charter House
Thank you.
Thank you Julie! Fabulous! Im looking forward to seeing my 11th cousin crowned next Saturday! So exciting ❤! I'm also looking forward to your commentary!!!! I forgot to add that I can't wait to see the big surprise from you and your father-in-law! What networks will you be on in US? A big thank you to you and your crew! 🎉
This is so exciting! I wish I had flown across the pond to be there.
Oh I hope in your next Coronation update robes, gowns, coronets are involved ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this talk on coronation. Best i have seen so far. Love from South Africa🎉
I’m so looking forward to it❣️
loving your dedication and expertise. Your family worth ethic is phenomenal. Watching from South Africa.
What a fascinating interview!
Thank You so much for this I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I have to say that I'm so excited to watch the Coronation I will be up very very early in the morning to watch it live on the tv here in The States as this is part of history but having said that I personally don't like some of the changes he's made to the service. I truly dislike that he has excluded the Hereditary Peerage from attending as is their right they are very important to the history of The Monarchy and in a lot of ways the reason for The Royal House's continuance through rough times. My feeling is that Coronations don't happen but once in a generation or maybe even if one is likely twice in a generation so to cheapen it, to dumb it down, or to take away from the special ceremony/event is a very sad thing and my feeling is that it should be done in full glory since there is so much history involved.... But That's just my opinion and feeling. Sending Love to you and your family all the way from California USA.
Yes, Charles' personality is to do things his way when he feels like it. He's not of the same ilk as his mother. I'll be watching anyway, and wishing that it was Queen Consort Camilla instead of the title he's apparently decided to bestow upon her. He forgets that he's defender of the faith. A little more respect for the church, please. Queen Consort is more than good enough.
Another great video, so fascinating!
It's going to be an amazing day.👑
So very informative...i for one can't wait for coronation day.
Love the pageantry and history! Thank you!
Oh My God have leant about the coronation ceremony from your channel. last we hosted a group tourist from Uk and where talking about the coronation ceremony about king Charles but have got the all story now. Thanks for sharing this and much love from Rwanda.
Looking foward to this
This was fascinating. Thank you both for sharing your knowledge with us Yanks. I'll be watching the coronation here in New York with my Union Jack mugs and a big pot of coffee ... or maybe tea! Maybe both -- it'll be very early here, LOL! I'm actually excited to see this historical event. As you said, most of us have never seen a coronation in our lifetimes. I'm really looking forward to it.
Hi Julie, great video I loved the history of the coronation. I absolutely love Kate. I am looking forward to seeing you on TV the day of the coronation. Thanks again, I loved it. Love from N.Y.
The Royal Historian, Lady Kate Williams is Amazing! She has taught me so much as well, over the years.
You simply must have her at Mapperton more often! Bravo Viscountess.
You are so Honorable…& I truly appreciate that!
❤❤❤
Ao interesting, thank you. Love Kate ams i alwayss learn so much from her.
Well done!
I can not wait. How exciting. ❤🎉
Thanks Julie, can't wait.
Just some random history info:
In 1558, after the death of Queen Mary, Sir Thomas Leigh led the coronation procession of Elizabeth the first, of England. The next year he was knighted. Sir Thomas Leigh's descendents include Jane Austen.
My mother is old enough to remember both the 1937 and 1953 Coronations. On 6th May she will witness her 3rd Coronation! She has also lived through the reigns of 5 monarchs: George V, Edward VIII, George VI, Elizabeth II and Charles III.
Wow...how old is she?
Wonderful interview! Learned a lot. So very excited about the coronation! Cannot wait!
Seems like there wouldn’t be a monarchy without the first Earl Of Sandwich rescuing the King. You’d think the Royals would be grateful enough to invite you, Luke and family.
Thank you ladies.
This was excellent, thank you so much for this...will be riveted to the screen now, never thought I'd live to see this, wish I could go to England to see. : )
Can’t wait will be watching and getting up early as I live in usa
Thank you! Loved the information and looking forward to Saturday
i love your art of questioning, It's one of the most educational videos i have found that is very interactive. i hope to see more videos prior to the coronation.
Thank you for your channel so enjoy your perspective from a cousin across the pond. Our family roots are from Scotland Aberdeenshire Forbes Clan
excellent interview ... thank you ...
More info on Queen Mary's crown refurbishment!
This was such an informative episode. Thank you.
Thanks!
Lady Hinchingbrooke, (Please allow me to call you your respected title since I respect you and your family)! Thank you for being our American commentator for The Coronation of their Majesty's Charles III and Queen Camilla. King Charles has so much to be proud of for his new reign for the UK and all the Commonwealth Realms of 2.65 Billion people.. I respect the Monarchy. Charles will soon have a closer connection to God after he is anointed. The actions of politicians will still need to be accountable to themselves, God and to Charles III . Charles III is good to want to share his divinity and include all the deity's for all different faiths. Any Faith is good to have. A Higher faith larger than yourself is always around the corner waiting to be . I watched a clip of Her Majesty. She said after she was anointed, she asked God for help. I am pleased he has invited his distant relative Monarchs and Emperor's friends. The United States is a Constitutional Republic. I also respect this Constitutional Monarchy, and I want it to please stay relevant in the world for many years to come. God Save the King!! Not an easy Job!
I hope they broadcast it this time in color you missed half the Pageantry last time because it was in black-and-white
Of course it will be in colour.
Even if there is limited number of peers invited, let them wear their robes and coronets.
This video was amazing thank you….
That was great, Thank You!!
Thank You Julie for this video … I’m so proud of you being an American you always have class as representing the United States… as an American married to an English vis count … it’s ashame that an American married to a prince is trying to bring down the English monarchy… the Duchess can take some lessons from you how to have class… I’m excited to watch the coronation also something that will be historical..
Meghan isn’t interested in our history only money 💰 I think Julie is great too !🏴🌹
I would have loved to see all of the tiaras and massive jewels on everyone else.
I wanted to hear about how the crowning of the queen will be done.
May is not the summer and it is 8 months after KCIII became King not a year. Nevertheless, thank you both for this informative clip. I sincerely hope that you will do a recap in detail after the coronation. I more than suspect May 6th was chosen because of the auspicious lunar eclipse labeled in some astrological circles as a *'King Maker'* eclipse.
At the late queens coronation each individual duke had to swear allegiance. This alone took an hour. Rumor is for King Charles coronation only Prince William will do this on behalf of all the dukes.
No, one hereditary duke, one marquess, one earl, one viscount, and one baron gave homage. Also, the Queen’s service did NOT last four hours. Here is the complete broadcast from 1953. The broadcast is two hours and fifty-six minutes long, unedited. ua-cam.com/video/52NTjasbmgw/v-deo.html
I just rewatched the video. The homage is 1953 took ten minutes, lasting from 1 hour and 40 minutes in the video to 1 hour and 50 minutes. Nine people paid homage: the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, the Duke of Norfolk, the Marquis of Huntly, the Earl of Shrewsbury, the Viscount of Arbuthnott, and the Baron Mowbray.
Fascinating history and anticipation for the coronation! What will happen for Camilla on that day?
Thank you Julie and Kate! Looking forward to watching it from Southern California 💗
I hope your father in law, your husband and you get invited since your family help to the restore the monarchy, it would be interesting to have an insider’s recap of it
Julie, I don’t see an International Membership in the Link below.
Hi! it's a bit further down but here you go! www.historichouses.org/international
King Charles III grandfather’s coronation The coronation service itself began once the procession into the abbey was over and the King and Queen were seated. Beginning with the recognition, the King then took an oath and was anointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, before being crowned king. As a remnant of the coronation ceremony's feudal origins, the King then received homage from the peers and peeresses of the realm in attendance.
There were few departures from the services conducted at previous coronations. Efforts were made to shorten the lengthy proceedings: the litany was sung during the regalia procession before the start of the service, and the sermon was omitted entirely. Even so, the service itself lasted for two and a half hours, excluding the preliminary processions. Source Wikipedia
We will definitely be watching here in New Zealand 👑 🥂
Thanks very much for this excellent information. Why is Camilla going to be called Queen when Elizabeth's husband was called Prince???
Julie are you comentating for the coronation if not why you explain it very well
I made a positive comment on another YT piece by American Viscountess and received a reply that she was NOT a Viscountess and was just an American receiving recognition by marriage to a Brit with a true title and real letters of peerage. Jesus Christ. How snobby. I am NOT a monarchist and could really care less whether Brits want their monarchy or not. I was paying a complement to a UA-camr who had made an informative yet entertaining video regards British Bluebloods. One that could even appeal to me, a committed Democrat and generally anti-monarchist. That reply reinforced my opinions. However, Ma'am, you still did a good job. Liked it and Thank You. You obviously do not take yourself so seriously and are better of for it. Snarky is rarely attractive. I hope you are appreciated on that side of the Pond.
Charles has revealed his true colors with something he has just added to the coronation. Traditionally the peers would stand at some point and declare their loyalty to the new regent. Charles wants everyone in the Commonwealth, including the folks watching on TV, to rise at the appropriate time and declare out loud their loyalty. This is absurd in its narcissism.
Thank you so much! What a great interview, so informative. I am looking forward to when King Charles III makes the vow to defend the Christian faith. However, some news outlets in the U.S. have said that he will be vowing to defend ALL religions. If this is so, what will he be defending all religions from, exactly? Thank you. God bless. And may God save the King!
