protip, you can also turn on reduce white point in accessibility settings. reduces the intensity of bright colors and lessens eyestrain. i recommend it when reading colored stuff. this and a matte screen protector looks amazing.
Hi RJ, Well I did it! I bought a brand new iPad mini 6 and am now using it for my reader. They went on sale for $130 off and I just couldn't pass that up. Mine is somewhat simpler than your setup but similar. I keep the Wi-Fi turned off between charges and I'm getting 11 days from every charge. But keep in mind I only use mine for reading at bedtime. l use a completely black wallpaper and have everything turned off in focus for night. I mostly use my kindle app but I have all my book apps on there as I have books and pdf's in google play, iBooks, kobo, Wattpad, etc. My cute little kindle fire is still working but it was getting very slow so I took the plunge and got the mini. Even though the iPad mini 6 is small, my kindle fire 6 is much smaller and I was worried the mini would be too big but l adjusted very quickly and find the mini nicer and easier to read. Thanks so much for your video explaining your setup, it inspired me to do the same!

I only read at bedtime and I’ve been doing something similar for years on the kindle fire 6 inch which was discontinued a few years ago. I love how small it is. I only use this for reading my kindle books and keep the Wi-Fi turned off except for when I charge it which is every 5 to 6 days since the Wi-Fi is turned off. But I’m a total Apple nerd and when I replace the fire6 this is what I’ll do, go for an iPad mini so I can use all of my reading apps, kindle, kobo, google books and a few others. I use the blue shade on my kindle and I’ve noticed I fall asleep faster since I started using that setting. My iPad mini will be set up sort of like yours, but even simpler. I love your channel! Yes. I know there’s a toggles, but in the “shortcut app” I don’t know how to write in steps in the “shortcut app cut l” app, can u show me the steps (its not the one u told me before, that one I know alredy, I just wanna know how to write it in the “shortcut” app, how to program it . Ok yea I think I gotcha. In the Shortcuts app, press the + button to add a new shortcut. Either search the actions or scroll down to the Settings actions and choose that. When you click Settings it should pull up a bunch of setting options and scroll down until you find the "Set Color Filters" setting. By default the Shortcut action should be "Turn color filters on." That's all you need to do to turn it on. Duplicate that shortcut or create another new one and press "on" to switch it to "off." I hope that makes sense!

You're welcome! Yea, the red light filter shortcut I have set up in the video toggles on and off whatever the last color filter is. So if you have greyscale on, then the exact same shortcut I have labelled as red light filter will work for on and off. You can just label it differently.
That Blank Space app has a library of wallpapers and the light/dark ones are matched to hide the dock really well. (Even if you don't want to keep the app, you can keep these wallpapers with the free trial). The dock is still there but you can remove all apps from it so it looks hidden!

If you see yourself spending a significant amount of your reading time on manga and comic books then the colour, quality, and responsiveness of the display on the iPad mini is going to be a much better experience for you.
Hey, yes! I actually hadn't used the Kobo app in a while so I just tested it out. It's actually really awesome. You can annotate as if you were writing on paper and those handwritten notes show up in your annotations the same way that selecting the text to highlight will.

Yea apple is strange like that and if they don't have another product that's newer that directly replaces something the price will remain high. That's why I found the mini I got refurbished on ebay for a pretty good price compared to new. I can't see myself needing to upgrade it for quite a few years even if they release a new mini. It's pretty well perfect. Face ID would be nice but the Touch ID in the power button is just as fast and easy to use.
I use speech central x azure voice from microsoft to have my free audiobook! Free access can read around 5k words of book per month. Why bother with microsoft voice? Its so real and most human like ❤

For sure some people will get an e-ink tablet, others only want their iPad and want it to do everything for them!
They freeze a lot and have issues with syncing definitely don’t recommend. I regret buying mine.
