    I use white vinegar when my hard water build up is bad. Takes it off easily. Can use regular or cleaning vinegar. Which is more concentrated. Works well on air stones too.

      I never mentioned it in the video but I had tried that first and it had minor affect to our ‘liquid rock’ water

    Been cleaning mine for years some are 13+ years old. You gotta boil them. Get a big cheap pot and full temp boil it. The plastic won't melt or soften. After a good 10 mins of full boil. I use lime away gel. Has to be the gel. Let sit for 10 mins then reboil. Boom back to new. I use mine in aquaponics as well so no worries. Just make sure to boil 2x after if you worried.

    Hey Chris, just bought an air stone at Peavy Mart. I used compressed air to test it and blew the bottom off O_0. I was going to test the cleaning of the air stone with boiling vinegar. After installing the new stone I was having further issues and after investigation I found that the one-way valve on the top of the compressor head had loosened and it just needed to be tightened. You can pick up a diaphragm maintenance kit for about $100 at Peavey in case you need. We disconnect the air line at the windmill for the winter to preserve the inner workings, you can pick up a winterizing kit to allow the windmill to operate without issues throughout the winter. Its a tank half full of an alcohol that does not allow the water in the pipe to freeze.

      Thank you so very much Mark. Every year prior I have always disconnected the airstone and placed the airline on the bank. But for some reason last year i did not. I'm not certain where to start first and the Peaveymart online catalog isn't very helpful. It's the 12 foot model if that helps.
      Once fixed I plan to go back to removing it every season.
      Thanks again.

    So what's the go when the goldfish take over the pond,small lake Biggsy,do you sell them off or let nature take it's course,just curious is all mate 👊👍🤜🤛😬🇭🇲

      We let nature takes it course and balance its system as needed. By adding the windmill and naturalization of the aquatic vegetation the pond stabilizes better and can handle a larger biological

      Nature finds a way to balance it every season already. For example this past wi tee was so dry that the pond level dropped by 6+ feet. There was a ton of die off, mainly frogs as their area of hibernation became exposed.
      Mother Nature finds a way. As she is doing with the world
      Right now .

    Good job explaining the dangers and safety requirements of muriatic acid 👍
    I’ve used it to clean up some tanks with severe hard water deposits before

    Wouldn’t peroxide do the same thing?

    • @themadaquarist
      @themadaquarist  3 роки тому

      No where near as caustic as Muriatic acid. Hydrogen peroxide may fix a little in the outside but degrades quickly.
