    Thanks for this! You’ve saved me right now….I was first thinking like maybe I can try to scrub it but then I wanted to be sure it would work so I checked UA-cam and all I saw was exactly what you were talking about and I was like what the heck I don’t have an air compressor and I didn’t want to use foreign chemicals in my beautiful tank and ruin anything so I was lucky to scroll to your video and get another opinion and I just did it right now and my air stone works like new again! Nice big bubbles that my fish and plants will enjoy! Thank you for real brother for demonstrating and clearing up the nonsense out there lol

    I seen the peroxide vids and I didn’t want to use chemicals. I even see a comment from some guy saying to use break cleaner! I’m gonna try my air compressor first. I don’t have a pot to piss in but I’ve always had an air compressor. Thanks for the vid.

    Thank you for this, I did order new ones. But they wasn’t the correct size. So this is going to help me a lot. I didn’t want to use bleach like some said. So I continued to keep searching and found this. I’m going to do this tomorrow.

    I'm a newbie but this is interesting! Can it be done with the stone DRY, or does the water "raise the goo" for easier removal? Would sandpaper just clog things up worse?

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  6 місяців тому +1

      I've always done it while still wet. Your questions are valid, I just haven't tried it when it's completely dry. Never used sandpaper either. What I've been doing works and is simple ergo I've had no reason to try it with what you've suggested.
      If you try sandpaper, let me know what happens. 🤙

    wonderful. Ill try it! are different brands better? Mine seem cheap.

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  Рік тому

      By better I presume you mean they last longer, more stable, need less cleaning?
      There are many brands to pick from. They can be made out of lime wood, porous stones and very expensive acrylic.
      For me I find it more practical to stick with the cheap top fin air stones. I have used many different kinds. No matter what it's made of it'll start accumulating gunk with a couple months.
      Unless you want to cosmetically make your tank more appeasing.
      My official answer is "No" lol 😆
      Hope that helps 🤙

    Hey Dustin , I was doing some maintenance today, and I realized that you had a few weeks since I had my crap water fixed and fleshly filtered from the tap water whisperer? But I found this little gem that I missed on my subscription feed 🚀 So I just wanted to send you a quick message and find out how you are doing ? Hopefully, you are all right ? In front of some of the smaller joys in life and ready for some summer fun .... I am going to make my end of wintertime walk on the edges of the all powerful and mighty Mississippi River tomorrow and hopefully my tarps will. Have some sweet driftwood and I think it should ?
    So when I get the notice from the UA-cam I WILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE 👀 🔦

      @Your Tap Water is Crap Very good to hear that & the other thing I wanted to mention that when you are planning to make a Twin Cities trip that a new fish shop opened in Mpls called River Shore Aquatics!!! Really nice selection, and everything is extremely healthy. The prices are a little bit more than the big box stores but it is worth it. The plant selection is the best I have seen and I think it would be awesome for you to do some recording for your Channel!

    Doesn’t this shave some of the stone off and throw tiny pieces of stone in the water that might be eaten? Air stones are softer than a hard metal like steel. Genuinely asking?

    • @yourtap
      @yourtap  4 місяці тому

      This would most definitely shave pieces off your air stone. I certainly wouldn't shave it while still in the tank. Air stones in general are no more harmful than anything else you'd put in your aquarium. Pieces falling off overtime are due to happen either way. Hope that helps 🤙
