This is a good song to end a George Strait discovery. He has so many number one hits its insane. I have a library of songs of his. His sound has never changed.
Honkytonks are basically bars where they have live music & western dancing. And a troubadour is a traveling musician/poet/entertainer. He has over 60 #1 hit songs & is known as King George. So many amazing songs, all traditional country. Every performance is the same. A cowboy wearing a hat, jeans & boots & his button-down shirt. No autotune, no backup dancers or costume changes. Just a man & his guitar.
George is a wow!
Honky Tonk is basically a local bar that plays country music. Usually small towns have that 1 bar.
A troubadour is a traveling poet/musician. The message of the song is that nothing has really changed him, he is who he always has been. He was a young troubadour when began, and he'll be an old troubadour when it's all over.
Yes, that was George on horseback. He actually competed some in rodeo. I've never had the chance to meet him, but I'm told that's he's a very humble man, very devoted to his family. As we say in the American South, George Strait is a 'good ole boy!'
💯
Yessir, dadgum right!👍✝️🇺🇲🤠
The best can ride a horse.
A Country and Western with a stage and dance floor, Troubadour is a singer. Steel guitar"
Honkey Honk is an American Country and Western bar, usually with a dance floor
King George of Texas🇨🇱🤠
Troubadour is like a bard or traveling musician
George just broke the United States attendance record at a concert with 110,905 fans.
He can go on stage and just sing number 1 hits and not be able to play them all. He has 60 number 1 hits.
He is the King of Country Music.
I have seen him in concert 10 or 11 times. One of the best concerts. He just sings his song. No dancers, fireworks, light shows. It him his band and a mic.
And George Strait is called King George - considered by many to the all time best Texas country singer
If you pay attention to the chorus he pretty much tells you what a troubadour is. I was a young troubadour when i rode in on a song???? Meaning a song writer or poet... honky tonk also known as a bar! Great reaction glad your going down this rabbit hole. Have a great day!
My favorite George Song.
Love me some King George. This man is and always will be the King of country!
The young lady sitting with him at the piano in the video was his daughter who saddly was killed in an auto accident in 1986. That's why he's talking about about "the truth about a mirror is it don't tell the whole truth."
A poet
The king!!
Girl, all the context clues are there. A troubadour is a traveling singer/storyteller. Shoutout to Vince Gill, another legendary country singer, on the harmonies.
Samantha. The word is pronounced like true-buh-door. Troubadours have been a thing since the olden days in Europe and all over. They were people who wrote and performed songs and poems and would go from town to town and pick up a bit of money for entertaining folks and maybe a meal. A honky tonk is a country music bar. The place for a few drinks and some country dancing. The instrument you mentioned is a steel guitar. George has had I believe 61 #1 hits. That's more than anyone in any genre I believe. George as recently as a couple years ago was still occasionally competed at rodeos. Though mostly celebrity ones. His event was team roping. They release a steer into the ring and 2 cowboys on horses. One (called the header) is responsible for throwing a rope around the animals neck. Their partner (the heeler) throws a rope and catches the animal's hind feet (or foot). Fastest time wins. George does indeed have a reputation as a good guy. In fact when he was deciding whether or not to star in the movie Pure Country (He did) he told them when he realized that he had a love interest in the movie, he would do nothing more than hug the woman. No love scenes beyond that and no kissing, because he thought it would hurt his wife's feelings. The little boy in the pictures is his son George Jr. who they call Bubba. He is grown now. The little girl at the piano with George was his daughter who they sadly lost in a car accident when she was (I think) about 12. Whew!!!
George is the KING OF COUNTRY!!
8:27 the instrument is a pedal steel guitar
As a performer, I learned how to share music when I was very young. George Strait was very popular when I was in my early twenties. I still sing his tunes. His music is timeless and it is without borders. The last time I played this song was 3 months ago at a bar in Bangkok, Thailand. The amount of acceptance I received there was almost unbelievable.
The English word troubadour was borrowed from the French word first recorded in 1575 in an historical context to mean "langue d'oc poet at the court in the 12th and 13th century". Honky Tonk: A honky-tonk is both a bar that provides country music for the entertainment of its patrons and the style of music played in such establishments.
I love the way a Spanish woman, whose British mother taught her English, and now she’s reacting worldwide to American Country Music. Come on over and go to a Honky Tonk and line dance with us one night.
blessings!
George Strait is one of my favorites. After a concert, I was out around his bus at midnight. A security guard came and told the 40 people or so to line up and George will sign some autographs. George has been married to the same woman forever and he is King of Country.
George is not a country singer; he is THE country singer. great channel
The king
George will be 71 in May and he looks great. Honkytonk is a bar that has entertainment. Jesse James was an outlaw here in America. A troubadour was a composer and performer of Old Occitan lyric poetry during the High Middle Ages (1100-1350). George is a real cowboy. He owns a ranch here in Texas.
Honkytonks , like a country bar , hell of a great time.
Honkeytonks are Bars/Clubs that’s about Booze, Cowboys, Cowgirls, Country Music and line dancing
This was probably the most adorable reaction to George and country ever. Being a Texan and growing up on his music it’s kind of amazing to see someone “not from round here” discover it.
“A” Honky Tonk, is a dancehall. Just honky tonk is music. Born and raised barrel racer from Texas.
George owns a nice ranch in Texas, a little North of where i live 2 or 3 hundred miles. He's normally at his ranch, working cattle,, riding horses, baling hay - "Ranch Stuff". He's a typical Texan and although I'm sure he is a typical working cowboy - except he can sing, and his bank account likely is bigger than mine.
Hank Williams Jr, A Country Boy Can Survive would be a great one to check out. A true anthem in American country music.
He's the king for a reason. I love this song purely because of his voice. That man can sing!
Great reaction to King George as he is known by his fans as George has over 60 #1 hits...more than any other artist. A Troubador is a singer, and a Honky Tonk is a country bar. Oh and the name of that instrument is a Steel Guitar. Love the channel. Much love from Canada.
Nice and simple explanations.
@@philiphughes9556 Thank you. I try not to make it difficult for someone new to the genre. Have a great day.
My absolute favorite song of his. Tru ba dor- singer of songs. George is the cowboy on the horse. He still rides.
Onky tonk is a bar, or pub, drinking establishment usually with a stage, and a dance floor. Like any bar some are pretty rough.
Hi Smantha, I like you channel ! George Strait ba great singer. Another great singer bis Elvis Presley. Would you rea to one of the great songs he recorded. The song is NEVER BEEN TO SPAIN . ( LIVE ) Thank you , Dear ,!
A honky tonk is a tavern where country music is played. It typically has a dance floor and a local band. If you want to get a feel for honky tonk, watch "Coal Miner's Daughter" about Loretta Lynn who was a very famous country singer from the 50a and 60s.
These people need to study up on what they give opinions on
The quick pic of him with a young girl, at the piano, was his daughter. Unfortunately, she was killed in an accident and was a brutal experience for him.
Honky Tonk = Country music dive bar. Basically
Great reaction! Welcome to the world of King George!🤴
Honky-tonk is a bar or a dive. George is very special. He released 52 singles. ALL 52 went to Number 1 in the charts. A fete not done by any other artist in ANY genre
YESSS!! Good ol George! Never be another'n like him! Keep em comin, Ma'am.
Honky-tonk is a country western bar. My favorite George Strait song is “Amarillo by Morning”. Since Spanish is your first language you may enjoy George Straits rendition of “El Rey” which is mariachi.
A Troubadour is Actually a Mexican word for a Cowboy and a Honky Tonk is a rough and rowdy cowboy bar.
She’s very genuine. Innocent. I love her reactions, so far.
Honkey Tonk is a country music bar.
Check out Trace Adkins Honkey tonk Badonkadonk,Your gonna miss this and Arlington.Probably steel guitar.
Trubador. A singer but more, a bard.
You nailed it saying it hype song was like a poem. Troubadour is an ancient word first used for traveling minstrels in Medieval courts of Europe. It basically is a musical poet.
For Honkey Tonk, just think a country music bar with live music and a dance floor.
Hey - thanks for the reaction; love George Strait. Honky tonk - bar; specifically country bar. Troubadour - old name for musician/singer; actually comes from medieval France. :)
Troubadour is a song writer.
one who writes poetry
Love your reactions..62 year old former marine from south carolina...
Pronounced True Ba Door
George is the King of country
A honky tonk is a bar
Listen to him sing "El Ray" in Spanish!
Great reaction beautiful lady love the reactions
honky tonk is a country "night club"
Can't go wrong with King George. TONS of hits to choose from.
I know you heard how it was said but just to make sure I pronounce it true ba door and that instrument would be a steel guitar, sure you probably already got replied to but figured I'd throw something outhere without having to go through so many comments to check.
It sounds like true ba door.Try all my exes live in Texas.
A honkey tonk is a bar that caters to country music with lots of dancing and live music.
Honky Tonks are cowboy bars
Loved it!! A honky tonk was originally used to describe a place black people went to dance to R&B and blues. I don't know how or when it changed meanings into a cowboy bar. A troubadour was a person that traveled from town to town that recited poetry, did monologues from popular plays or sang, for tips, usually.
Traveling musician
True-bah-Door or Troop-ah-Door. Varies a little regionally.
Troubadour is an archaic French term from the middle ages for a poet who composed and sang his works.
Honky-Tonk is "American Slang" for a Country Western type Pub / Dance Hall.
Spoken word things make sense that you have no clue, but you're literally posting a video to the internet and the title of the song is the most searchable part.
Do what you want but you can't be taken seriously.
Call him a "True Bah Door"
Troubadour, true- ba -door, lol.
A troubador is a singer...a hockey tonk is a southern American country bar...
George Strait is known as the King of Country. He is Royalty in the genre. Amarillo by Morning is a favorite of many of us. Try to watch the movie “Pure Country” and you will get to see his one and only acting moments. Great soundtrack on that movie too! Awesome channel.
The young girl in the photo sitting at the piano was George's daughter she was killed in a car accident at 13. She was riding in a car with friends the driver lost control she was the only fatality.
Country music is but three chords and the truth!!!!
True, more often than not country songs tell a story but some are just fun party songs. At the tail end of winter you might enjoy Luke Bryan's "One Margarita" for example. Then for more country songs minus cowboy boots check out Kenny Chesney "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" and "Old Blue Chair", which is particularly good after a stressful day. Kenny often brings an island vibe, but it is still country.
Agreed
Hes not a country singer hes THE country singer.
Love the reaction. I just found your channel and subbed. To put it simple a honky tonk is a country bar and a troubadour is a writer of lyrics
The legend,Mr George Strait. The man has more number one hits then anybody in country music ever I believe
Troubadour =TROVADOR. Honkytonk is a rural bar with noisy music
iT'S A ROWDY ASS BAR
A honky-tonk is a bar in the South. They can be found in other states in the country. These honky-tonks can have cowboys, southerners, country music playing and a bar. Nashville Tennessee uses the term a lot.
You've hit the nail on the head, a good country song is a story, so it's important to listen to the words, the music is just there to accompany the lyrics, and the really good ones will affect you in some way, whether it's something in your life, or a family or friends life, or even that it could happen to you if circumstances change, that's why a lot of songs don't go into specifics but leave the meaning sort of general, so it can hit with more people, they can hear what they want or need to in those songs .
A troubadour was a midievial poet ,or story teller.a honky-tonk ,is a bar with a dance floor. I'm a new subscriber. May I suggest Kenny Chesney. 9 time country entertainer of the year. I'm a sailor and live on my sailboat in Tampa Bay, Florida, USA 🇺🇸. These are my recommendations, and a category to give you an informed choice. Soul of a Sailor , Something's sexy about the Rain , Spirit of a Storm , I'd call these soulful and we'll writen and performed. Ok , for fun , No Shirt ,No Shoes, No Problems, Get Along , Summertime, Keys in the Conch Shell. Introspective is my last. The life , Come Over ( killer video ) ,and lastly, Knowing you. He has a large body of work. Please not my tractors sexy,or There goes my life. Capt.Bob, SV ( Sailing Vessel) 27th Chance, Tampa Fl, USA 🇺🇸
Honky tonk is a country bar.
I am also learning about country music. I'd love for you to check out Forever Country - Artist of Then, Now and Forever. It's a mash-up of 3 very popular country songs. Take Me Home Country Roads by John Denver. On the Road Again by Willie Nelson and I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton. You might want to check out the originals before diving in. This was produced for the 2016 Country Music Awards program. They invited previous award winners to participate. There are 30 artists included.
Great vocals. Beautiful message. I don't know exactly how to describe what a Honky Tonk or a Troubadour are.
Thank you for this reaction. Allow me to recommend Letters From Home by John Michael Montgomery - ua-cam.com/video/FIG9C3n-SPc/v-deo.html
