+Bryce Piper There is a reason why the exhaust is there so.....(de didn't want the pipes so close to the batteries which intrude a lot of space underneath the car).
This came out before the model s. But really the main reason for teslas success is their great use of media. Instead of giving it to car journalists they gave it to tech journalists which built up hype to the point that the car journalists had to say that everything is perfect or they would get death threats. Don't get me wrong it's a good car but it's far from perfect.
My family owns a fisker and I've never had an issue with the exhaust. The motor turns off in traffic even when the battery is low. Even at speeds of 2 mph it simply glides under the car.
Based on the title, I was expecting a large list of issues to be crammed into a short duration. Seeing the same 3 items repeated over and over and over makes the video seem as though there's absolutely nothing else wrong with the vehicle other than "exhaust location" (fixable by rolling up window when idling), steering wheel adjustment "potency", and some panel gaps. Repeating the same 3 issues just starts to seem like a malicious substitute for actual complaints.... I'm confused, does this car drive poorly, feel uncomfortable on the inside, or have reliability issues? I knew nothing about the car before, and I still know nothing about it. I've learned more about this Jason person than I have about the car. I'd still probably prefer a Tesla, but not as a result of this review.
great comment - was very disappointed that this video was some man child whining and repeating himself for 2:19 rather than what the title actually says
+Martijn Kösters : Anyone who's every paid more than $75,000 for their car. I remember test driving the very first Lexus LS in 1990 (MSRP $38,000) and it had an electrically adjustable steering-wheel. It adds a touch of elegance and allows for more precise placement (and, of course, more complexity and another thing that can break down).
I thought the gas engine was only to extend mileage if the battery failed, so you wouldn’t be sitting smelling exhaust, you’d be in the wind trying to find a charge station. And this is the only complaint I’ve heard of the gaps.
If they made Back to the Future in modern time, Doc would have used a Fisker for his time machine. A unique looking car from a failed company. It's unreliable, and not that fast either. It would look good for a time machine though.
He might have still gone with the Delorean. They were going to go with a refridgerator, but were afraid some kid might get stuck in one and die, so they went with the Deloreans instead. With the whole frost thing, the fridges and Deloreans being stainless over a fiberglass shell, they're theoretically better suited to the conditions those "time machines" were to have seen in the movie.
That exhaust would be illegal in Australia. Only classic hotrods & replicas are allowed to have side exhausts, & even then the outlet has to be behind the rear most opening into the passenger cabin.
I don't know how the engine could be on while you were standing still but it's a electric car with a range extender. Usually it's only on when driving fast, driving slow or standing still, it's not on. You must have turned on "charge the batteries" or something like that.
This dude sounds too butt hurt to actually give him any credit. Just test drove this car and I love it. IMO Tesla looks like crap in compare, in and out.
Omg these are the least of the Karma’s problems- the main problem: not enough touchscreens. I need wall-to-wall touchscreens, take out the passenger seat- put in a bigger touchscreen, make my seat a touchscreen while you’re at it
i dont care for Fisker at all but cmon man this car has gotten a shit ton of unnecessary critique since it came out. we dont need another video on this
Why the hell would they put an exhaust pipe RIGHT in front of the drivers window?!!! I like the looks but damn, how could you screw this up so bad for a car thats supposed to be eco friendly.
i love the noticeable GM parts, such as the turn signal and wiper arm. and im pretty sure the mirror adjuster switch is GM as well. i own a 2010 pontiac g6 so i know they are GM
they guys at the dealership told me that because it is a handmade car there will be lots of stuff like that. you just talked about the exterior panels, how about the gaps between headliner and the A Pillar .
This is probably the most ridiculous video I've ever seen. 1. It's a generator...not an engine. It does not drive the wheels of the car, it charges the battery. Consequently, it's not running all the time. (However, still a viable argument.) 2. Honeycombs? This is a complaint? (Purely subjective.) 3. Just about every power adjustable steering column will provide the same force. (Stretching for something to complain about in this video.) 4. I loved the body style...but recognized that the body panels don't fit all that well. However, the Chrysler 300 (05-10) had similar body panel gaps...but was still a huge success. As bad as certain aspects of this car were, the video made me want to "like" all the things that this guy went on ranting about. Sounds like a little kids throwing a tantrum.
lol dont listen to the nay sayers. I love ths video! Haha, i didnt even know the fisker had the exhaust up front and so much panel gap. Im pretty sure the people who dislike this video are just the ones who either bought one or were about too lol.
I remember seeing a Fisker in Budapest, it’s the only one I’ve ever seen in the wild, I actually liked it, it was unique and interesting I’m sad they went bust
I'm not familiar with how the Fisker runs but wouldn't the engine turn off while the car is in a stationary position like every other hybrid? At a stop there should be no exhaust while in motion it would Wisk away under the car
I think he creator was an ex designer from Ashton Martin. If it was engineered properly this car should have had amazing mileage since its more efficient for the motor to charge the batteries than run the car. This car was poorly engineered and marketed at a ludicrous price.
+scootosan Its not even a review. Yes, he's honest, but he fails to bring up more than three things that are "wrong" with the Karma. And he says them repeatedly, in a cringe-worthy way that makes me already dislike his personality, and in turn the channel. The matter of the honey combs is just stupid. HE doesn't prefer it, doesn't mean its wrong.
+Jay Starr Keep the honeycomb pattern throw on some washboard plastic sides and you've got yourself a new Pontiac... for those that miss that kind of thing.
I had a home made side pipe on a '77 Delta 88 4dr I use to own, 350 sounded great with that, no catyletic converter, just about 2 feet of pipe, a glasspack, and it exited about the middle of the back door... Great until you realize, I don't have door seals left...
its sad that i cant find a decent in depth review of this car, cuz my father is considering buying one and i honestly have hard time finding some good reviews. If anyone has some recomendation plz feel free to share. :-)
Actuallyto cruise the highway and getlooks from people, it's a functioning automobile. Drove it once. Flooring it on the highway: nothing happens. But it does roll along nicely, weight the same as a Bentley.
Soo... the exhaust exit and the panel gap in the trunk? The rest are just nit picky granted it's $100k new, or half that used. I thought that, legally, the exhaust had to exit from behind the driver door.
Yeah so I own a Karma and none of these are really valid. The exhaust has NEVER been an issue for me, body lines are smooth and constant, if you think the steering wheel motor is too strong, then release the friggin button........... Its a wonderful car from my personal experience. I suspect you probably dont own that car? or am I wrong?

No wonder I don't see Karmas anymore; all the owners died of carbon monoxide poisoning in traffic. Poor bastards.
+NFS4LFE All the ones who didn't die in a fire, that is
+NFS4LFE
>Rich bastards
FTFY
+NFS4LFE XD
That and is has been discontinued LMAO
Yeah fuck all rich guys, Its not like their people too.
Ok so two actual issues. the poor fitting body panels, and the exhaust.
+Bryce Piper Yeah, he should have mentioned that there is no space on the inside, either...
+Bryce Piper
There is a reason why the exhaust is there so.....(de didn't want the pipes so close to the batteries which intrude a lot of space underneath the car).
Yep, just the two and none other.... whatsoever ;)
Three, unnecessary steering wheel adjustment power
bdpa kaknox it also breaks down
I remember when people were saying this was going to kill the Model S.
LOL
+aluisious more like try to kill you
+aluisious Nah the Tesla had an ace up it's sleeve. It's the biggest most expensive Ipad you can buy. The door handles are cool too.
+aluisious Looks like they were wrong.
This came out before the model s. But really the main reason for teslas success is their great use of media. @@volundrfrey896 what are you smoking
Should be called 'Everything wrong with the Fisker Karma repeated several times in 90 seconds.'
Did you not watch the same video I did? Only thing repeated was the exhaust
@@tunerimpala5658 lol re-watch it man
Bitch bitch bitch....name of video
Your fly's down.

LOL!!
why are you looking at his dick?

Yes. However, the exhaust is a HUGE fail. I cannot believe someone ok'd that design.
That exhaust could actually kill some poor idiot flapping facebook in traffic.
great comment - was very disappointed that this video was some man child whining and repeating himself for 2:19 rather than what the title actually says
Just the exhaust part is pretty terrible. Don't really think it worth to emphasize on something else.
I'm not sure why but this guy strikes me as extremely annoying.
Mostly because he is
Everything wrong?......he complains about three things.....differently each time
Jeez he is extremely annoying!!
He keeps saying the same thing over and over again. This video could've been 15 seconds long
Yes
The exhaust and panel gaps are valid points. Nothing else mentioned here is actually a problem.
...and I still want 1! ;)
This is 139 seconds not 90
+ᅚᅚᅚ ᅚᅚᅚ came for this, was not disappoint
This video couldn't be any less humorous.

Wow, he deserves a whole new level of Hater badge.

"Doc Brown doesn't drive a f**king Fisker Karma." - Bob Gale.
I think they are beautiful!!!
Not funny. Just tell it straight.
+Jay C Exactly, thank you.
Some of these comments are nuts. The Mercedes SLR had the exhaust in the exact same place, (on both sides!) and somehow, nobody died.
THE EXHAUST LOOKS SWEET THO
I love the Fisker Karma, author is an idiot.
Funny ! Makes me want to buy a Fisker.
That exhaust would be illegal in Australia.
Only classic hotrods & replicas are allowed to have side exhausts, & even then the outlet has to be behind the rear most opening into the passenger cabin.
+milksheihk I'm pretty sure it's illegal in the USA also. Not sure how they got that one past.
+Alvin Brinson probably checked by the same dude who figured those VW diesel engines were fine :)

Isn't the Mercedes McLaren exhaust similar?

I just bought my wife one thanks dude.
Why does a steering wheel adjustment require motor-assist in the first place?

Why the hell would they put an exhaust pipe RIGHT in front of the drivers window?!!! I like the looks but damn, how could you screw this up so bad for a car thats supposed to be eco friendly.
No place under the car because of the batteries. Also pipes produce heat and it would be dangerous for the batteries.
but it looks so good 😥
i love the noticeable GM parts, such as the turn signal and wiper arm. and im pretty sure the mirror adjuster switch is GM as well. i own a 2010 pontiac g6 so i know they are GM

How does this have exhuast if its electric ?
I'm not familiar with how the Fisker runs but wouldn't the engine turn off while the car is in a stationary position like every other hybrid? At a stop there should be no exhaust while in motion it would Wisk away under the car
Finally, Bobcat Goldthwait weighs in on the Fisker Karma.
id have to say the fisker is one of the worst cars ever built.
You just hate electric cars in general
+Tao's Bikes yep, useless and liberal
I hate the car too, stupid hybrid.Love Tesla S / X , Zoë , twizy , leaf.Also hate cars with CCS , like i3 and e golf

do they make noise when they start up ?
Thanks for the laughs!!
No wonder this company folded while Tesla is soaring.

i would like a fisker karma to engine swap with a rotary 20b
its sad that i cant find a decent in depth review of this car, cuz my father is considering buying one and i honestly have hard time finding some good reviews. If anyone has some recomendation plz feel free to share. :-)
Tell him to buy a 1999 Dodge Neon. It's more luxurious.
This guy is why I love Jalopnik!
Rock on
That interior is HIDEOUS!!!
Is your fly zipped open??
I think the Fisker and the commentator should switch roles. He definitely deserves more of a roast than the car. How annoying
Love this vid! You have a new sub, sir.
Fisker ocean has entered the chat.
The exhaust does come out the back on mines it does yours is probably just broken
That exhaust is dope
Actuallyto cruise the highway and getlooks from people, it's a functioning automobile. Drove it once. Flooring it on the highway: nothing happens. But it does roll along nicely, weight the same as a Bentley.
Love this video
So for 2 minutes you basically ranted about the exhaust. That was your list of reasons not to get one?! Pretty weak my man.
But does it make a sound when is started?
This is hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂
Everything wrong with the Fisker Karma in 140 seconds
Soo... the exhaust exit and the panel gap in the trunk? The rest are just nit picky granted it's $100k new, or half that used. I thought that, legally, the exhaust had to exit from behind the driver door.
Guess what Fisker is back.
Fisker Karma: Sold with a built in fog machine specifically for dramatic parking shots.
Why is this fucking video the only thing that comes up whenever you try to find the video of them exploding in the hurricane
Yeah so I own a Karma and none of these are really valid. I know it's not the car's fault but how has no one mentioned that horrifying choice of interior colour? Given all the different options available, who on earth would walk into a dealership and ask for dark red and puke orange?
I wonder, did they have the exact problem with Mercedes SLR AMG with the exhaust position?
It's electric so the exhaust I wouldn't think is toxic...I got to look this up now
Please tell me this is a joke...
Sitting in traffic I could imagine it would be cool. (IDK) It's a comfort vehicle nice to see the electronic adjustment, he apparently didn't like the design. I personally had to turn the volume down because he was obviously using his new voice!
