Probably also wishing people would tell the truth about why Fisker died: enormous cost overruns, lies told to the federal government to get the loan that caught up to them leading the government to cut the loan off, battery fires, extreme quality problems (one they sent to a major reviewer broke down during testing). One estimate is that Fisker spent $700,000 to make each car that they sold to dealers for $70,000.

The design isn't bad but the pricing was waay too high and it's too impractical.
I remember seeing this in an NYC parking lot around 2012 and was blown away by how sexy and imposing it looked. Had to find out what model it was. Really, REALLY surprised it didnt do better based on looks alone. IMO one of the best looking cars ever made, especially when seen in person.

My coworkers neighbor bought one new and we thought it was the coolest car ever. It was mind blowing! Within an hour of purchasing the car it was struck by a drunk teenage driver and totaled. For months we joked this driver had killed the future

The most beautiful and the most quirky sedan ever built!
I remember reading Autoweek when this vehicle was on the way. I remember it was good looking and technically interesting. This is the closest look I've ever had, a very well-done guide to the car. I am actually surprised at how many things they got right for the first attempt. The failures are similar to failures in exotic cars from makes that have been around a long time. If I were ridiculously wealthy, I would get a Karma to add to my collection just because it is a forward-looking car for its time.
I'm with you. If I was extremely wealthy and did not need to drive this car extensively it would be cool to have this unique vehicle.

Found a fisker here in Italy yesterday,I immediately looked it up since it looks so strange,fun fact here it wasn’t sold as the “Karma” but rather “Revero”
Because the Chinese company that bought Fisker automotive is now called Karma Automotive. When it was Fisker automotive the model was called Karma which is the equivalent for the Karma Revero.

Simply out of curiosity, who services these cars nowadays - any particular big name dealership or pretty much any mechanic could look into wtv needs to be done? Same question goes for parts, especially because every little thing looks so unique.

@@henryrodgers7386 actually I have a few cars. My 86 tbird is 197.6", then my 88 mercury cougar is 200" some odd. The 87-88 tbird was 202.1 but they are all basically the same car doors forward. Just a slightly different bumper design.

I live in West Hollywood and for months I've been seeing a Fisker Karma all over the place and then I recently learned that Henrik Fisker himself lives in West Hollywood! There are also billboards all over LA hyping the Fisker Ocean which is their all-electric everyday passenger vehicle. It's a shame they never got the time to develop a new version but glad to see they've rebounded, can't wait to see what they do next.
I remember back in early 2013, my neighbors bought one of these. I thought it was the coolest looking car on the planet, such a stunning design. And man that’s a bargain! Why would anybody buy a new car when you can have this amazing beast?!!

For people confused, Fisker Automotive went bankrupt in 2013 and was purchased at auction by Wanxiang, a Chinese automotive parts company, and then renamed to Karma Automotive. Henrik Fisker went on to relaunched his company as Fisker Inc. in 2016 and is still making cars today.
Renamed is a good thing because fisker is a horrible name for a car.

I love this car. After all these years, I still do. Henrik Fisker is launching a new project as of this posting, and I'm a shareholder....probably much to my own chagrin.
The Fisker Ocean seems to be a brilliant car, I really hope it does well and I want one.
And here we are in May of 2024, the stocks are worth a nickel and Fisker is once again circling the drain. I too, have hope for its survival, because I have a bunch of shares of that stock :D Plus the Ocean is a great car and just needs a few more software updates to be a solid offering.
Fisker technically still exists, they were bought out by a chinese billionaire. I used to work for one of the factories that produced suspension parts for their front end. It was a couple years after they filed bankruptcy that the company finally received payment owed and what parts we still had in storage were to be shipped overseas to the new owners storage.
What was it like working for them?

@@ilovekitkat7857 Cars cost the same everywhere in the US. It was actually cheaper for me to drive from South Carolina to California to buy a car and drive it back. Even with gas from the trip and all, I paid the same as I would have in SC for the same car. Same in Tennessee. I wasn't able to find a car ( 2016 370Z) for a good price. I flew one way to Florida to buy it and then drove it back.

@@anthonypsantos Yes, it really was. Not everyone has the exact same 8-5 M-F job. I had no problem with time and it was 2,000 miles driving to get a car that had low mileage. The Z I bought in Florida required a 90 minute/under $100 flight, then purchase, then a 6-hour drive back to save over $1,000 for a comparably equipped one in TN. These are no-brainer decisions. And what is a "demo"?
@@GeographyKing Thats great to see that you actully did work it all out! I was more in disbelief then anything. I worked in the industry for a few years. A few times I ran into this but still was able to work it lower then the customer could. A "Demo" a vehicle that the dealership either specifically uses for its test drives or a vehicle that uper managment or top level sales people have driven. There new vehicles with no sales history the dealership can "lease" these to there employees and just pay a tax credit to do so. Thus in turn you get a new vehicle with some mileage but get the dicount of a used vehicle!
Funfact: Henrik Fisker also designed the Telsa Model S and was later sued by Elon Musk because he thought Fisker intentionally made the Model S look worse than the Karma to increase sales of the Karma.

The Fisker Karma’s 2.0L turbo engine is the same one in the Saturn Sky Redline & Pontiac Solstice GXP. also the Cobalt SS Turbo & I believe the Saturn Ion Redline used the engine but with a supercharger.
Love the hidden great detail. Karma logo inwards that is a great touch. Does not look cheesy and typical upfront in the open. A lot of great detail which are not loud

@@j_freed Not true , if you wish to maintain any of these makes properly then it will cost , yes they are mostly trouble free, but when you do need parts and professional MB or Porsche certified mechanics , then you will pay more. I know .
Also fun to notice, they done used Saab mirror controls apparently. Or GM, but i think you can find the same ones on a older gen 9-5

I used to see one of these around 2013-14 up in Canada that was in a full chrome wrap. Really hard to miss that one as it blinded you in the sun driving by.

Fun fact: The city name (where the karma was made) in Finland is Uusikaupunki and it literally means Newcity... 30km from where i live

My 2010 MDX (2nd gen, first year of face-lift) had good nav.
@@UnrealOG137 I find this interesting because my girlfriend used to have (I think it was) a 2013 MDX and the entire sat nav system was heinously bad. There was no way to turn off voice alerts for the navigation so we basically didnt use it. I swear to god i looked for hours, i googled the hell out of it. The bluetooth took forever to connect and had a good 4 seconds of sound delay so if you were to watch a video on the bluetooth in the car it would be extremely behind. I was astounded how bad it was for an acura that wasnt all that old.

2012 BMW has excellent navigation systems. Sure, it's a luxury car, but it was still around half the price of I've of these when both were new.

The Karma is not built like a Prius. The gasoline engine is never connected mechanically to the wheels. It only drives a generator to charge up the battery or to power the electric motors directly. The two electric motors are the ones that move this car. Doug was being very vague about this fact even to the point that I think he didn't do his research.

Fun quirk: ya could get the glass panels on the console and doors with bits of leaves or twigs inside. Saw it at the NY auto show when this thing came out.

@@jorge8596 no, you couldnt really choose what goes in there, it was just a fossilized leaf they put there in the spirit of tree huggers. It came in the top Eco-chic trim.

Of course, if some parts on your Fisker Karma does get broken, you can easily swap them with Karma Revero/GS-6 parts, since they are basically the same car, but with different names.
I had my Fisker Karma changed a little bit. I took it down to a guy named Pat in San Francisco, he owns Pat’s garage and works on Fiskers. I had him add 2 more drive modes on top of Sport and Stealth, adding some efficiency of driving styles. EV was added, using lower wattage from the batteries to get an environmental cruise in, or ER, for energy recovery. ER automatically turns on the Gen, no matter what. Sport mode does too, but only adaptive to how you drive. Super fun cars
Oh I also rerouted the power from the solar roof, I didn’t like it strictly going to accessories/12v outlets. Put that energy straight back into the batteries

Anomaly Detection Algorithm I like the P100D as well, but it’s not traditionally sporty looking. Another issue that I see a lot of commenters bringing up is the fact it’s a hybrid, which for me is actually a plus since I drive hundreds of miles at short notice pretty frequently. I’d rather stop and fill up evrey now and then then wait and supercharge (but that’s me being impatient and it’s probably not a bad thing safety wise that Tesla forces you to take a 20-30 min break evrey few hours).

Some time ago, I had a car with similar door handles. One evenning, after dark, I went to buy something and parked the car under a tree, next to some bushes. A while later I went back and as I was curling my fingers to reach in under the handle I though I saw something and I froze just before sticking my fingers in. In the streetlight (lucky there was one just nearby), I saw something thin and dark sticking out. What the heck?! I broke small twig off from the nearby bush and jammed it under the door handle. A BIG hairy spider ran out followed by ANOTHER one. I shudder at the thought of jamming my finger in, for a party with the spiders. Lucky I spotted the spider leg sticking out, I could've easily missed it in the dark.
