I've been watching alot of your older videos and your current ones and im really such a big fan of your attitude ! the gallery .. and past life experience and how noone of that simple matter the second you see or talk about your fish its so lovely seeing how happy it makes you ! :) Big fan from sweden
As someone who who views plants and fish as equals that when used correctly compliment and take aquariums to a new level. I must say I'm extremely hyped for this project. I've always wanted to have a massive planted tank but haven't had the time or room. But at least for now I can live vicariously through this channel!.
Cant wait to see this develop! Haha was watching a George farmer live at my local FS last week and seen you pop in the chat "take your top off George" 🤣
Hey Joey ever consider putting a second floor over the gallery for studio space etc? A couple knee walls about 4ft high, steeper pitch roof and a couple roof dormers
@@helgebrekke only problem could be height restrictions. Interesting of addition cheapest and easiest is usually to expand upwards. Foundation may be only limiting factor
Yes!!! Some week before I writed to you, when you want to build a planted aquarium, and here it is. I really wait for the next video. Good times to you for aquascapeing! Best regards from Hungary! 💪
you should consider putting the planting soil in fibermesh bags to prevent it from "drifting" to areas of the tank where you don't want it or mixing with other substrate. the roots of the plants WILL find their way into soil bags and make rescaping easier and neater.
i'm not a keeper of fish or any other animal I want to make a shrimp tank and have planned it MANY MANY times lol but never got around to it... i love watching you're video's though there are few ppl that grab my attention but you are for sure one of them thank you :)
Joey...... can you not place the Radeon lights in line and above the front of the tank and angle them back 30degrees to light the tank and back wall? Simply make a wedge shape and paint it into the ceiling colour.
Saggitaria subulata (dwarf sag) can spread extremely fast in all directions. You might wanna create a hardscape wall of sorts to keep them in check. They will definitely invade the crypt regions otherwise. You can try some rare amazon sword species like echinodorus rubin, aflame etc. Blyxa japonica will look lit too.
I got a plant order for 2 of my tanks yesterday, and I was more excited to get it than half of anything I order online! You are motivated the only one e with a plant/fish problem! 😅
Hey Joey - Tropica Soil is known for derive Ammonia in the first 4-6 weeks. Therefore be Award of that. That’s maybe why you wait 4 weeks with putting fish in it?
Just to note you wont need any nitrogen for the first month or so as the soil will release this until it settles down. No plans for vallisneria ? Would look great next to the tree stumps
Mind you it's phenomenal ☺️. How did you get rid of that snail problem? I would love to know your openion. I started to have it since few months and now it has infested my canister.
For my 130gal planted tank I just add some Epsom salt, Flourish, and Flourish Excel at water changes. I add Flourish Excel nightly and use their root tabs to the swords and lotus plant after a heavy pruning which happens about 2 to 3 months apart I dont run a co2 but I do use a UV sterilizer.
I have mp40s and mp60s I have to replace the propeller part at least once a year. I don't know how you had your for 5 years with replacing parts. I do my maintenance on them once they slow down or make sounds.
I hope this message finds you and yours happy and healthy. My name is Nate and I'm in the process of starting my first aquariums using a mish mosh of wisdom from you and your peers. My question is, I just tested my water. PH is 6.0 both fresh and aged. The TDS pen says 20ppm. I'm in between turkana jewel cichlids and Congo tetras with intent to try a little breeding. What would I need to do to my water in preparation for getting fish? I appreciate your time. Thank you do much for sharing your knowledge. Respect.
I would recommend Seachem’s Alkaline Buffer. It’s just a powder that you add to your aquarium to raise your PH. Simply follow the instructions and you’ll find yourself with a PH of 7.0 in no time. Seachem also has a Neutral Regulator that is also in the form of a powder, but it keeps your tank at a steady 7.0. I’m not as familiar with TDS, but from my experience (11 years in the hobby) as long as it’s not in the upper hundreds, you really shouldn’t run into any issues. Good luck! The hobby is amazing!
Joey man, you are good as the King of DIY but even when i love this idea and you giving it a go., I really doubt that you will succeed. i just don't see you as having the patience for it. you are more like the guy that gets it done TODAY and DONE. I LOVE ALL YOUR OTHER TANKS 100%... with all said, I really really really hope you actually succeed in this project and reach this other level of the Hobby.
You should put cardinal tetras in there or Ehlers or green neon or emerald eyebrows borrows or both Monte rainbow fish or su warfarin the fish it would look awesome
what kind of planted substrate is that ? the name of the brand . I'm stoked for this tank ... and I'm sure Jeff thanks you for not wiping out all his fish supplies 🤣🤣 and I'm very surprised its took you this long or to go back to using one net per tank and only for that tank 😅🤣 ... by chance you going to do a school of clown loaches or Imperial loaches ( imperial flower loaches ) .... whenever you setup the 40 breeders check into freshwater pipefish you could do a species only tank with them plus would give you a good challenge..... anyways kickass video and this going to be THE BEST PLANTED TANK ON UA-cam 🍻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I know you said it isn’t going to be a community tank. In the future when it’s time for a change up. The layout you have there could make a bad ass Amazon River biotop.
I have no idea if you will read this... I have been following you for ages. I want to build my own fish tank that's a bit different... A tall thin tank... 50cm wide and 1meter tall... I have been doing heaps of research but can't find any information... Is this possible to make out of complete glass.
At my local fish store, that would be like $600 worth of plants. It sucks. its great seeing others able to buy such amazing stuff, but also gets me kinda bummed out because ill never be able to purchase that many plants. keep up what you do, you're my main UA-cam follow.
Well the chinese aqua shop owner from San Francisco is saying that all those water movement are causing algae grows in the tanks he even never use filterpomps...all filtration is happening with the thick layer of substrate.Do you aqree or not with him Joey???
Man just can't have too many nets. You will need atleast two even if you don't keep fish. Birds. Dude, the birds that fly inside your house. We were lucky that my dad just had bought new set of fishing nets, we got the bird out so fast. Now he keeps a big one indoors in case of new visitor birds.
Use the CO2! Just go for it! You’ve tested the difference in the past and even easy plants with greatly benefit! Love this progress!
It really coming along. Hope your plants thrive in there. In a months time i hope to see a soggy green thumb lol

It's the dream isn't it!!
i love you just dumping bags out on the table and having everything go everywhere
Not a fishkeeper myself, but I just love your energy and passion for this! It's inspiring, and makes me want to get into it too.
Love your squirrel moments lol glad you get excited.
I know I'm not the only one that's gets get a warm feeling in their heart when they see that notification
Damn I like the set up with the sign up in that spot! The 700 is going to be nice when it grows out

Nice to see you having a go at the planted tanks again joe 💪🏼
The wood in this tank is perfect 🤙🏽💎💎💎💎

Sounds awesome, but there's probably some zoning laws that has prohibited him from going there?

That tank would look awesome with some jungle Val. Especially with those wake makers.

I didn’t know they did tropica products in the Americas. I used to feel gifted living in Europe haha.
Great video dude !!
It looks absolutely phenomenal!!!! Joey!!!😂❤

I am really excited about this tank.
I love this sooo much!
You are right about that it does help keep the algae away and it’s less substrate cleanup you don’t have to vacuum as much
it's good to see you so hyped. Take care.
My wife is the same way, she can never wait when it comes to holidays and birthdays. Lmao. 🤣😂🤣😂
Hey Joey - Tropica Soil is known for derive Ammonia in the first 4-6 weeks. Therefore be Award of that. That’s maybe why you wait 4 weeks with putting fish in it?
The background looks crazy good
Your channels kicking ass Joe. That’s coming from a saltwater guy 😂
Joey my husband is EXACTLY the same with surprises! XD
Joey please do a guide on how you calculate your seachem dosing
Can't wait to see the plants done! Hurry up! I bet they'll look Phenomenal 😉🍻
Looks cool, can you keep it going for a long time to see how it grows? I know you change tanks a lot but it be nice to see one that doesn't change
Joey looking out the window for his plant Delivery, "Oh Canada.. you cold, cold Mistress....."
A good painting on the wall there (on the old 40gal breeder wall) and it's good to go :D hehehehe
Just to note you wont need any nitrogen for the first month or so as the soil will release this until it settles down. No plans for vallisneria ? Would look great next to the tree stumps
Have you ever had trout or a river tank? I’m looking into doing Aquaponics and ideas or advice? Thanks
Mind you it's phenomenal ☺️.

“Yugh its juices” *immediately sniffs hand*

Might be a good idea to primer the words on the king of diy sign. That glare is a little much. Dope spot for it though ✌

i hate the gel that is on the roots. do you have any tips to help get the gel off easier?
Omg it's gonna be amazing I love the accidental spoilers
Get a few American Bullfrogs. 😉😉

A tank as interesting as your interviews!
1-2 xxl amazon swords would look really good in there too. And, or, some gigant val.
I'm rewatching your videos and trying to ignore the octopus tank video
Joey on Red B? My mind boggles... :-D
Sir you have so many aquarium what do u do with your sypin pipe do u buy saparate pipe or use one pipe plz help
Where did you buy your pool filter sand? Thx
that is why all the triangle stores stock dropped on (out of season) pool filter sand.
Is your 700 gal tank still facing the wrong way? Looked like the back glass was light blue, while the front glass was green tinted.
You should put cardinal tetras in there or Ehlers or green neon or emerald eyebrows borrows or both Monte rainbow fish or su warfarin the fish it would look awesome
I lost track of the shrimp tank, but a pile of Amanos & the decorative Nerite snails in there would be killer.
I would love to see the wavemakers on high once just to see what it looks like.
PLEASE where do you order your plants online I’m from Canada too and can’t seem to find anywhere viable to order from
When I add new 🐟 to my African cichlid tank they kill the fish with in a week, I change around tank and do water change please advise

Shout out brother. From Philippines
"discreetly closes curtain" lol

you only use 1 net per aquarium but you do take sponges from other aquariums to cycle
How's your outside pond holding up thru these snowstorms?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Joey y u say IRON so funny???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Are you filtering out the derivatives from chlorination like these carcinogens (THM4)(HAA5) If so how?
18th thumbs up and 5th comment good stuff. I've never gotten notification so quick.
Being king of DIY, it would be cool for experimenting with mixing dry fert instead of buying expensive bottled stuff
Where did you go to get your well water tested?
where I am, the Health Dept runs periodic inspections.
You need a big fire eel and some birchirs in there and some big clown loaches...

0:49 saltwater is back?! Is that a blue tang I see?!?!?!?
Soo hyped for thiss
What's the easiest way to take that dang packing gel off the plant roots? I always end up with a mess all over my hands and my tank.
a dinner fork. just "rake" it off gently while the plant lays in a shallow tray.
