These are my favorite types of your vids and what got me following you all those years ago with your coffee table tank! Keep up the great work, glad you chose Sundays for lives as well!
Hey there I watch your videos on how to build a aquarium stand. Well I copied you to a T! It came out great! 😂😂. Anyway I have a 125 gallon w two fluval 407's packed Seachem matrix and a fluval 307 with sponges and chemical! Is that enough filtration. When you get a chance please let me know. 😂
School of lion fish would be amazing. I don’t think I’ve seen that done before. Also, great idea for the filtration on the 2000. Cheap easy setup that can prove to be much more powerful and beneficial than any filter sold on the market. Loved this video dude 👏🏻
Great man, love the simplicity!! So excited about it!! And also wonderful that you already shot this progress so far. Keeps the excitement for next video! :D
Another banger of a video Joey! Trash can sumps are the best! 💪🏾👊🏾 I’m really enjoying the way you’ve been making your content lately! Keep up the great work Bro! ✌🏾
Joey can I ask for a filter design were the Pump is at the end after all the media, I have a feeling that running the aquarium water straight to the pump first will get it dirty faster and I’m tryna have to clean it atleast as possible, if I was to make something like this I would have to dedicate a bin just for the filter at the end, then make sure I have piping running from the pond to the first bin, thank for helping me visualize my idea now time to sketch!
Just checking in. Been about a year. Been a sub for about 7. Not in the hobby anymore, but glad to see you still doing your thing. Also glad to see you at 1.4M!
I need to know. How do you get the water into the first trash can without a pump and or worrying about it clogging? That's my problem with my tank is my pump clogging up.
You obviously know tons more than me and have your idea, but I would go submerged and fluidized in both set ups. Intake barrel submerged, fluidized in the return barrel.
Lol are you all brand new? He's the King of DIY! This is what he does! And he just bought like 6 Fx6'sa short time ago, but they're isn't any filter big enough for huge tanks, unless you get a pool filter.
Love it man, the reason why I subbed to you back in 2017. I absolutely love these types of videos. I’m keeping this filter build in my back pocket for the future.
Did you cover the pump you are using in the Brute cans? If so I missed it somehow, I would be interested in making one of those who are we kidding who knows how many of those
Call me naive but I'm new at this what does putting water from one tub to the other do what can it do for my fish tank and how does filtering the water like that make it better for the fish
I have a magic eraser under my air pump to minimise the noise and vibrations, if that big one is vibrating the shelf abit you could try putting one under each of the giant air pumps legs. Ps I love watching your videos and seeing you you get excited for stuff you want to do. Have you ever kept Kuhli loaches?
You might get more flow from smooth hose, the ribbed ones increase turbulence, which reduces flow. although you may already be at the point of diminishing returns if the pumps very powerful
The king joey i watched your videos alot I know u are a freshwater guy I am to but u got me to liking saltwater your lion fish is so pretty I'm setting up a 150 gallon tank I would love if u do sum saltwater equipment an set ups n tips you the best I made alot of things from watching u thanks in advance
For cleaning up those drilled holes... ya don't need to struggle... a cheap metal deburring pen when used softly will do that in 1 swipe each side... easy peasy.. and the pvc can be done the same way for easier insert
29:02 I am the same exact way🤣🤦🏽♂️ I have 6 tanks in my room and I start something on one tank and next thing yk all the tanks have something going on
@@jhaych my tank isn’t drilled so I’d be doing a siphon down into the bucket / can which in a power out situation would keep emptying until the water is below the intake - ie 50-65 gallons if the filter pulls from the worst, most dense water at the bottom. If the pump fails or just can’t keep up it just feels like a flood in the making unless my siphon is maybe 2 inches from top of the tank.
I might've made that bruit. Lol. Wash it before you use it. It has mold release on it. But they are all food grade so you're ok. I mean the can and the release.
Those Brute Barrels are so expensive partially because they're food safe and extremely durable. Very good barrels, I use the 10gal grey version for outdoor tomato plants.
@@thekingofdiy A place I enjoy to vacation in. Have not been there in over ten years. Are you on city water? I made an easy to make system for automatic water changes.

Joey DIY appears to happy, passionate, and engaged! In the end that's all that really matters. Thanks!

Joey MacGyver!!
Every body knows your fantastic with fish and aquariums, but you are also one hell of a handyman too👏🏻👏🏻

28:50 has your garden got root bound? That may be the reason for the slow growth....? Or maybe the light to plant distance?
Great man, love the simplicity!! So excited about it!! And also wonderful that you already shot this progress so far. Keeps the excitement for next video! :D
I love your videos man! from the Philippines here.
Hey Joey what about food grade silicone lube to get them in?
Flash backs to the old old diy vids with the way Joey talks
TIDY CAT LITTER BIN Filter is going to go be go!, THank you Joey!
Joey, I know you have heard it before but "thank you" for the inspiration and dedication.
Love the DIY projects! Truly an inspiration to just how cheap proper filtration can be!
Good timing. Just sent this to someone who was asking what kind of filtration they should use on their future ray tank.
Great video, keep it up!👈
I love the trash can filters. I have one on my 110 gallon pond. You are so inspirational you've taught me how to do a lot of this stuff
Nice one for you how to video just found you channel. I’m in the middle of making a bio filter for my pond and was looking for ideas.

Have you tried beveling the pipe edges a bit and then use the soap to install them through the bulk heads?
Wow those filters look so easy and effective will give them ago but on a smaller scale
will be great for my ponds as they oculd use some more filtaration thanks again joey lov ethe old style diy videos thanks again joey
Hell yes Joey 👍 🙌 👏 😍 get more!
Can you share a link to what you buy for submerged media? I bought your book but I’d love a link tree!

Customize filters I need to try making some for my turtle tank
Welcome Back! Your RE-found joy is evident in the videos…..
I need to know. How do you get the water into the first trash can without a pump and or worrying about it clogging? That's my problem with my tank is my pump clogging up.
Back to the old skool.....
But new age...
Aaaaaaghgh i love it
Back to your DIY roots. This is best video you've made in a while.
Keep up the awesome work!
@19:17 it's a dremel in short but a variable speed oscillating tool!
Fantastic video, would love to see the filter running on a tank.
Pretty clean! Recommend a filter sock in the first input of the filter to catch large debris and let that fall into the floss. 👊
Sunday is my only day off. So that's perfect
Anyway you can drop the link for that air pump? I have one of those small loud ones and it's time to change it out
Good timing Joey, this is exactly what I was going to do to my 1200!
I think you should do fluidized in the first then submerged in the second.
Edit: the two baskets with filter floss sounds like an amazing idea
Auto focus Joey!😂😂
That filter is brutal 😉
You should put some shrimp in them as another level of filtration. They would do a great job with the rest of the filters.
Love you man keep the videos coming boss!!
Great 👍 video, full of invaluable info on DIY filters for sure. 👍🏴
If you take the black cover off that loud pump you'll see there that noise is coming from and you can put some cotton and quiet it down alot I did
You obviously know tons more than me and have your idea, but I would go submerged and fluidized in both set ups. Intake barrel submerged, fluidized in the return barrel.
I think I will make one for my water feature outside. Maybe smaller though. Thanks

Just had a shower and got dry and dressed.... And you get me all soaked again!🤬🤬,, 🤣😂🤣😂 LMAO. God bless 🙏
'I was out by an inch'.... Not the first time you've heard that Joey 😂
Joey, I find that when my airpumps get loud, just putting a few layers of filter floss under it can really make all the difference.
Did you cover the pump you are using in the Brute cans? If so I missed it somehow, I would be interested in making one of those who are we kidding who knows how many of those
Getting me back into you vids not watched much last month or so
What is the brand of the stainless steel shower heads.
Call me naive but I'm new at this what does putting water from one tub to the other do what can it do for my fish tank and how does filtering the water like that make it better for the fish
Thanks so much Joey I have your book on the way!
Fluidized filtration before static filtration may provide better oxygen levels for static bed.
The piranha tank looks amazing. Ever consider adding more tannins to the water?
hey joey I have a small question regarding the gallon measurements you use, is it the canadian (4.5l per gallon), us (3.8l per gallon)?
I think no matter what and where 4.5 liters are more than 3.8. Your question doesn’t seem to make much sense
Are all those fish tanks in your house or in a out building
what about a diy airlift pump for a drilled tank filtration? tks joe
Great information and inspiration
Have you ever considered Matala Mat for fiter media? Common in Koi ponds.
School of lions. Cool. Love what your doing
Hey Joey I love ur fish tank and video I want to build my own Oscar tank 180-225 gallon the thickness of Lexan acrylic I should use .125 .250 .375
Tell me I’m not the only one that jumped when the hose pump hose flew out lol nice jump scare Joey
Hi Joey great video but I had a thought if you are struggling to find metal hangers then you could probably use picture hanging wire x
I've been using quilt batting in my filters for 10+ years, get it at the local fabric store.
I am CACKLING. 🤣🤣 That hose blowing out of the can killed me. Lmfao
I’m not the only person who jumped when the pipe sprayed water at the camera right? 😂
Hi Joey, I couldn’t find a video showing the end destination of the octopus aquariums. What happened?
Awesome build 👏

I would love to see a video of your above aquarium sump. Could you ?
Definitely yes on more lion fish
So that air pump was 100$ and has like a ton of hose valves? Where can can I get it and what’s it called?
Looks great. You can also use a touch to clean up your cuts on the plastic trash can. Careful not to melt of course

Yes to the lionfish pride. 🤯💯🥳👏
I love it a pack of lines in the water
What kind of pump do you use for that huge filter. I wanna make one too plz comment.
I love these filters but how do you protect yourself from a flood if the power for the pump or the pump itself fail?
Overflows
