Hi, I would not connect the stones to the birdbath path. I like the separation of the lawn. I would remove the two stones on the left and right of the birdbath path. You have a stunning garden and the stones are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing. I have a great deal of work to do before even thinking of possibly joining the two. I tend to look at things over time to make decisions. I love having grass. Thanks again, Robyn
Very cool! And I think it would look good with those two outer Stones left as is or removed. I'll have to look at your videos to see if you posted what you decided
Thank you! This was my first video, and I didn’t have a clue how to do audio. I’ve kept it the I installed it. I appreciate you leaving a comment! Hope to see you around. Robyn
Thank you for being a special needs teacher. Your kindness and dedication to our children is appreciated. Your garden is absolutely beautiful. I am building gardens of stone, rock and floral around our yard. It's hard work but so gratifying. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your channel
I would remove the stone sitting by itself. It looks like you forgot it there. Don't connect the one path to the other path going to the bird bath. I always suggest leaving something alone and see how you like it months later.
Hello, That random stone has been moved to the extra pile. I was too tired and decided it could wait. I love your thought about waiting. I do like to be with new things for a bit before adding or changing it. I won’t be rushing to change it. Thanks for watching! Robyn
Hi Robyn, new subscriber here and welcome to UA-cam! I Love your channel and style of videos. Your pathway turned out GREAT! Love the grass around it. . . so pretty! Liz
Thanks for joining me! I’m so happy you are enjoying my new journey here on UA-cam and my garden style. I appreciate your kindness. Happy gardening to you. Robyn
Loved this -- please keep making videos! Great timing, as I am planning out my front yard and would not have thought about the paths to get the mower in. Also, I was thinking that your soil looked fantastic and then you said it was hard clay, which is what we have in the Carolinas, but ours is red. Yes, it is awful! I'm moving more into native plants and I'm finding that they really tolerate this heat so much better. Good luck to you as you start back to school. I'm a retired teacher and the pension life is great!
Hello, Your thoughtful comment motivated me to get outside to do a garden tour video. I have worked hard for the past 5 years amending my soil. I have brought in 18 or so yards by delivery and lots of bagged soil. I think my neighbors wonder where it all goes. 🤣 But the awful clay doesn’t do well for my choice of plants. Enjoy retirement! Thanks again, Robyn
Robyn, i so enjoyed your video and your path turned out beautifully. I do prefer hearing your voice over the animated voice. New subscriber, youtube recommended your channel, I'll be watching your past videos. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Janetta! I was and am still learning the editing process. I am learning a lot and hope to continue to grow. I’m glad you dropped me a comment and joined my channel! Thank you!
LOVED seeing this….we have a very small area as well and are redoing our back yard finally. Having more planting area for added lovliness and color. Your path is spectacular! So fun to see a woman doing this……your curb appeal is fabulous……can’t wait for the next video……happy gardening.
I appreciate your kind words! I love doing things around my home. If I can do it myself, I will. Have fun with your backyard make over. Thanks again! Robyn
I like the path to your bird bath as is. The ground cover will grow close and soften the edges. Don’t connect the path from the side walk to the birdbath. The grass pathway makes it more interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Your pathways look great! I DO like the stones in front of your bird bath. I wouldn’t change them if it were me. The only thing I think I’d change is the single stone sitting in front of some plants, a little to the left of the path to the birdbath. To me, it looks a little out of place and detracts from the the two paths near it. That’s just a thought, though. It’s your garden. If you like it and it serves your purpose, leave it as is. Thanks for sharing your video!
Hi! That stone by itself is there because I’ve been too lazy to move it back to the pile of extra stones. This made me laugh. I will think of this each time I look at it. That will put a fire under me to move it. 🤭 Thanks for sharing. Robyn
Hello I subscribed to your channel. I live in Texas and the triple digit temperatures have been very hard on my garden so I understand gardening in high heat. I have a pathway I'm trying to decide on in the front and one I have to do in the back yard. This video was a great inspiration. Your plants look beautiful in your yard.
Hello! The heat is challenging! I’m ready for fall weather, and I bet you’re too. I’m glad you’re inspired. Sometimes it takes me time to come up with what I want in an area, so it’s exciting when I myself get inspired and am happy with the outcome. Thanks for watching! Robyn
Take them out. The balance is off me thinks. Well am 8b & it’s triple digits for humidity. Work from home so looking out the slider, am creating in my mind what to change. When it cools down will begin my re-design of my backyard. Been here 10 years, time for a change. Your front is just lovely! I would kill for your grass, got centipede😢. Strict HOA here, they’d have a cow if anything was planted out front.
Thank you! I am really enjoying them, and I’m glad I changed out the stone color and didn’t go with the Arizona Rose that the other path is in. Thanks for commenting! Robyn
Shout out to S.E.! I like the idea of the entry path eventually connecting to the bird bath path. I would keep the two long narrow stones. I’m not crazy about the right stone’s shape. It’s hooked a little but that would fade away once the boxwood matures. I’m hoping I can copy what you created. I love it.
Hi! Funny you mention the stones. When I was puzzling them together, I had in mind plant’s eventually covering some spots, but now I’m going to look for the stone that is wonky looking to you. 😊👍 I am glad you were inspired. Have fun building your path! Thanks for posting. Robyn
Wow, you did a wonderful job building the stepping stone puzzles! I loved the two outer stones you were wondering about! Your front gardens are really charming, Robyn, and your color choices are so delightful! Extra kudos to you for bearing up under this sweltering heat! 🩷💚💜 Linda
Hello, I have to laugh at myself because I was dripping, but I was determined to get them done. Thank goodness for my umbrellas. Have a great evening. Robyn
Thank you! I was actually wondering if I should go pick through the stones at the rock yard and border the grass. I’ll ponder that for a while. Thanks for commenting! Robyn
Looks great! I would leave the lawn between the two pathways, I think it looks nice. As for the two outside stones on the path to the birdbath, I actually think it would look even better without them. Less sharp, more soothing.
Thanks for your thoughts. I will leave them for some time to see if they grow on me or they go. I am wondering if they will look different once the plants grow around them. Thanks for sharing. Robyn
I’m curious to know what the stones weighed; I’m concerned how much I can carry in the back of my SUV. Thank you for showing us the process. I love what you did.
Hello, I have a Honda Accord. I made 2 trips and each time I had about 300 pounds. I believe this video the weight of what you saw was 315. Thanks for watching! I hope this helps. Robyn
@@gardeningwithmamabird Thank you for responding. That gives me a guide for the weight and quantity I can personally handle. I keep telling myself; just do a little at a time, it’s not going to make the cover of Garden Gate magazine, but the progress will keep the momentum going.
We have a lot in common. I also love to garden and I'm a substitute teacher's aid. I work mostly with special ed students and I love it. I really enjoyed watching yiu build your path. It turned out perfect.

Love pathways, I really like the one by the birdbath - it feels symmetrical. BTW what is that grass by your birdbath and the silvery plant by the sample stone you showed for width? Artemisia? Thank you for your service as a special ed teacher. As the parent of a special needs (now) adult, I cant express my appreciation enough! :) :)
Hello and thank you! Yes the silver plant is a variety of Artemisia, but I don't have the actual variety name. The lime green color grass is Hakonechloa macra "All Gold". It is a perennial and will die back during the winter. I leave a few inches when I trim them. I hope this helps in your search for the grass. I love this grass! Robyn
@@gardeningwithmamabird thx so much. I was hoping that was what the grass was. Im redoing my front yard and have 3 of these on order.. I love the look!! Keep the videos coming! :)

I want to add paths to my garden. I think it takes the garden to the next level. I’m intimidated to do it myself. How do you estimate the number of stones to buy?
Hi there, Maybe you could start small. If you have an area by an outside faucet, you could add a few stones for an area to step on when you go to turn your hose on and off. I already had a small path, so I counted how many were on that path an estimated from that. I'm sure the rock/paver supplier has a way to calculate it based on the stone you choose. I have a few stones left over just because I wanted choices as I put them in a pattern. One thing I didn't do which is an option is to lay a heavy duty landscape cloth under them to prevent weeds. I wasn't worried about weeds, so I skipped that. I am not a fan of landscape cloth, but it is useful in some applications. Let me know if you would like me to measure an area and let you know how many stones are in it. I hope this is of some help. What zone are you in? Robyn
@@gardeningwithmamabird thank you! I’m in zone 7 - Oklahoma. We’ve already had our first freeze but next week we’re supposed to get back in the 80s. Our weather is crazy. I’m taking advantage of the lower temperatures and starting a few projects.

I say yes to the side stones at the birdbath. It is a lovely visual guide to the birdbath.
I did leave the stones. The ground cover that I planted around them is doing fabulous! Thanks for watching and commenting! Stay cool!
I like the stones up to the bird bath and the two corner stones. Those stones give a curve which is appealing to my eye.
