So, so well said. I can not get over the purity of tone and intonation along with that gentle contralto vibrato. No, never see the likes of this voice again, but I give such thanks I was alive during her time. What a blessing from God.
Wow. That was Karen Carpenter at her absolute finest. What has happened to music since then. It doesn't get any better than this performance. Thx for doing this reaction. It was excellent.
I saw this when it was originally broadcast in 1980. I recorded the whole programme on my little cassette recorder and replayed it many times over the years (yes, I've still got it). This is one of my favourite medleys. One thing I always notice is Richard's face throughout the medley. You don't often see him smiling so much so genuinely and naturally. It's as if he realises what an honour it was to have such a special sister.
Like Luther Vandross, Karen had no equal. Her sultry lower register and spot on tone of her upper register, will never be duplicated. I read articles that said she was called “one take Karen” in the studio. Love and miss her
I'm back again. I simply can't get enough of this medley. It's hard for me to find words that are worthy of this performance. This is Karen at her very best and I have to watch this at least once a day. Jeff your reaction and comments make this even more special for me. Thx again.
Yep,Karen Carpenter just has a sound like no other .Those siblings, musicial genius's. Her voice pulls at the heart strings like no other .It was just so joyful and deeply moving all at once .
Forty years later, no women singer can hold a candle to Karen Carpenter. The sweetest voice of all time. Best female drummer in many peoples opinions including mine. The VOICE passes the heart to the soul. Amazing !!!

Jeff, i just cant get enough of this performance. It's just so very good. This is Karen at her absolute best in my opinion. The arrangement is incredible. Richard doesn't get nearly enough credit for his singing, writing and arranging. I listen to this at least once everyday and several times on most days. Thanks again.
I still remember where I was when I learned she had passed and who told me. Her music and her death have always been, and continue to be, among the most affecting experiences of my life, and I grieve to this day. I firmly believe that Karen was no accident; she was, and continues to be, a gift from above.
This compilation is so.wonderful. Her version of Someday leaves me absolutely speechless. It is so incredibly beautifully sung. Such sensitive and her voice excells to that top note she hits pitch perfect. Emotionally very moving. Richard's arrangements in this presentation were excellent. Absolutely heartbreakingly exceptional ...
Oh wow, I’ve loved the Carpenters since my youth in the 70s and I’ve never heard those first few songs before! The quality of voice, sounds, arrangements and production is just breathtaking. Thank you for bringing this to us today 😊👍
Every time I listen and watch this medley I get teary. Karen’s voice is so beautiful and perfect and the arrangements of the songs are lovely. Karen was with us for such a short time but her gifted voice will always live on. ❤
Wooo! Wooo! Wooo! The ever great Karen Carpenter! Everything she ever sang and/or recorded is marvelous. And she was a fabulous drummer as well. At 5:12 going into the intro of "Make It Easy On Yourself", oh my. She just, wow! Gives me chills every time I hear her sing it. Incredible voice! Full of emotion, regardless of what she's singing. "Make It Easy On Yourself", "Solitaire" (ugh, rips the heartstrings right out & yet it's another favorite of mine), "A Song For You", "Trying To Get The Feeling Again", "Love Me For What I Am" (excellent lyrics for all of us & our mates), "Goodbye To Love", "Only Yesterday", the list goes on and on and on. Thank you for your reaction.
The "VOICE OF AN ANGEL" is passed away, but that "VERY SPECIAL VOICE",remained and still echoed in this universe...timeless and never forgotten until this generation...i'm 22yo,from Philippines and Karen hooked my heart since i was 10...she's my lady and my singer.
Thank you Jeff for reacting to this. You made my dream come true! Karen has this very special way of singing that soothes the soul. Just like you said, she pierces you (in the best way possible.) Lots of happy tears when I listen to her and Richard. Thanks again. I very much enjoyed your observations.
The world is filled with many beautiful singers, that's a accompliment . Karen Carpenter, like any singer has such a unique vocal and style Her voice is like a breath of spring. Very very angelical and smooth and soothing to the soul. She was 15 when i was born in 1964. I grew up listening to her own music Now I'm 60. And still listening. And singing her songs on karaoke
Yes, there is something about that voice that goes straight to your soul, to your very being. It's as if God is letting you personally hear what an angel is supposed to sound like.
Have Loved Karen since 1970 when I started and stopped drum lessons. Restarted drum lessons at 63 and aspire to play like Karen and Viola Smith did! Having been from Connecticut, I also felt comfortable with her. Very few singing drummer's and I missed seeing her and Richard. Appreciate these clip.

I highly recommend that you react to any of her numerous videos, she's just released her 5th studio album. This autumn she is due to star in the West End in London in a brand new musical especially written for her called "Rosie." Many rectors have said she is already one of the best singers in the world. I'd love to know what you think?
