Danil has now proven his vocal range, he can be both Maurice White and Philip Bailey. I think I’ve listened to this at least 15 times, it gets better each listen. I’m looking forward to this during the concert. There’s no way I’ll be sitting, can’t help but dance along.

I'm 75 years old, and I can honestly tell you, Leonid & Friends, is surpassing all the music that was played in the past, no matter what the singers and bands of the time, they deliver the message with great taste and perfection.

Just under the wire Jeff! Danil (blue shades/polyester shirt) and the back-up singers really hit their groove. Everyone is fabulous. So much fun! Makes me wanna dance. Love it!

Leonid brings a new and amazing energy to this song (and other EWF songs they cover). I couldn't stop grooving and smiling while listening to this song. That timpani!!
So, that smile on your face throughout the video - that's how it is when you see them live too. They just nail it, 100% of the time. I had a jaw cramp at the end of the show.
I close my eyes and can literally feel the "taste" of every note. It's like listening EW&F original recording!
I was 6 years old in 1979 when Boogie Wonderland was released, and I remember how excited I felt listening to it. To listen to Leonid and Friends version of it I still feel the same excitement over it like I did almost 45 years ago with the original version!

Jeff, thank you for considering this song and doing a review. I thought you might enjoy it. The release on FB generated 22,400 views in less than 3 hours if I recall correctly. It's so fun to watch the facial reactions of the musicians as they perform. This song, and may of the others performed by Leonid & Friends, quite simply demonstrates the virtuosity of every single musician and singer in this group. I am constantly amazed at the songs they do and the perfection they achieve. Again, thank you for a "same-day" review. Keep up the great work and be sure to see these guys if they are booked into a venue close by - you will NOT regret it! Already have tickets to the show in Houston (The Woodlands actually), and assuming they are booked into Dallas this year, will go to that show as well. All the best Jeff!!!

This tune had it all: timpani, French horns, string ensemble, horns, adidas jump suit, silk shirts, and enough staccato for everyone. Singers knocked it out of the park! I started looking for my platform shoes.

I know I shouldn’t but I just cry when I hear this . I can hear every instrument and every word it’s just effing fantastic. I have to listen with my eyes closed first then I’ll watch it eyes open again and again. It’s wonderful.
This is what happens when every member of the band is the star.
Pure music heaven listening to this. There are people out there getting high off on drugs and alcohol. but l say nothing gives you a better deep down in your soul high than listening to some good music. This music can be classified as EAR GASM.
For him to transpose all these parts for all these brilliant musicians is just staggering. Also, hearing these tracks 40+ years later shows just how good EW&F were 😍😍👏🏻👏🏻

You nailed it Jeff - it’s exactly how I felt when I first heard this. Very difficult to put into words but joy and soul were two. These guys take a song and then bring out its full potential. Spot on with your assessment of this masterpiece. I just discovered Leonid & Friends last week. I have been mesmerized by the quality of their covers of all the artists that Leo selects. The love and respect that they hold for the original artists is so evident in the way that they elevate these songs to enhance my memories of my youth. Just amazing!

Leonid is absolutely a genius. Watch the documentary and where he came from to now. It's stunning.
What's interesting to note about Danil, is that when he joined the group, his English wasn't up to par with the other group members, so he's come a long way with that since then, ... and to be the lead vocalist for several songs, it tells you a lot about Leonid's confidence in him.

Leonid Vorobyev must have been a serious conductor before he retired and created this incredible band. The background he has to be able to create all these covers so faithfully by ear only and without sheet music is simply out of this world! It's simply amazing all these talent artists came together just because he wanted one Chicago song as a birthday present! They never looked back!
The background singers sounded just like the Emotions. Danil is more talented than most male singers I've heard lately.

I hesitate to say any musical group is the "best" on UA-cam, but I will say that Leonid & Friends makes sure that every song they perform is the best it can possibly be. Jeff, it is great to see that you have become as much a fan as the rest of us.
Best at covering the music they cover is what I was referring to. Not necessarily the best band on UA-cam 😄. But if you know another band that’s better than these guys at covering Chicago, EWF, etc…, please let me know! 😃
@@StrateleStudios Actually, I didn't recall you saying "best" on UA-cam - just trying to find a way to explain how I felt about them. LLB gives them a run for their money, but better? No. Although I love Foxes & Fossils and listen to their stuff more often I put there stuff in a whole different category. I've noticed you sort of do too, which is really why I enjoy watching you react ot them. It is sort of like comparing Simon & Garfunkel to ELO.

It’s hard to describe how difficult this is transcribing this by ear. It’s a song I have heard hundred of times over the years and never realised there were timpani! The vocals replicate the original not just in hitting the harmonies but the timbre as well. Dani’s vocals are masterful as others have commented being to sing like Maurice White and Phillip Bailey is incredible. I wish one of the TV networks would cover one of their shows, they deserve a wider audience. Thanks again Jeff for your brilliant analysis.
