Just a personal belief but having indoor outdoor cats usually ends in the ultimate sadness, I’m a big advocate of catios to give your indoor kitties a taste of fresh air! Sorry for your loss.
@@QuinnMatousek I have to agree. For their safety, and for the safety of wildlife. Just the other day the neighbor's cat came over and kept attacking me after I've been nothing but nice to it. It seemed to be looking for a fight. I grabbed it with some welding gloves and put it off the property. Now I have to spray it with water whenever I see it. 😕 If it attacks my dog Idk what to do. 🤷
@PumpkinPatch10 these people just aren't taking care of their animals. Infested with fleas and ticks, which brings another issue for me and my dog. Peeing and pooping all over my garden and planters, more work for me to do. They keep getting into my buildings and greenhouse... One day one of them is going to get injured if they get locked in; I can't check everything, everyday. There's no talking to the neighbors ..I may just have to trap the cats and take them to a no-kill shelter in the night. I just can't comprehend how people can create problems for everyone else, with zero consequences, just by saying "that's not my cat", but then get upset at the talk of animal control. 🤦 Sorry for venting. Better than yelling it to the cats. 😂😅
Good vibes, much love, and prayers for Babka. ❤❤ Hopefully she’s chillin at a neighbor’s house. It’s how we ended up with our cat we thought was a stray. Maybe if you grill out some salmon one night, tuna the next and so forth, Babka will come running back home. Ring cameras help too. It’s how we monitor our indoor/outdoor kitty.
Congratulations on purchasing Botanical Interests! I purchase Botanical Interests seeds at my local nursery. They have a great selection. Look forward to seeing the greenhouse soon. You and Jacques make a great team. Y'all make gardening fun and interesting. Hope your cat comes home soon. Put something with your scent, like a worn shirt, outside and maybe that will help her come track back home.
I’m so sorry about Babka 😞😢 praying she’s ok. Kitties are tougher than we realize, especially outdoor cats. One of our cats just passed from cancer. It’s so hard going into what he made his room, and he’s not there. Thank you so much for these videos, as always. I NEED to clean up our garden spaces and a bunch of way overgrown herbs
You guys have great chemistry and you can tell that you are true friends. I always look forward to learning new things and laughing at you're corny/funny jokes along with the shenanagan, makes my day. Also I'm truly sorry about your kitty I pray that she comes back home.
Was just “huffing” my garlic chives the other day😂😂. One of my fave items to smell and snack on while garden toiling! You two bring me joy through your humor (and hard work!).
I am zone 4b/5 (Canada zoning) I have such "zone envy" watching you folks. I can't stop watching bc I have learnt so much LOL But still, it's May 8th. and we have to be mindful of snow or frost still this time of year. Our full growing season is equal to your shoulder season 🙃 Keep up the great content!
Been watching your vids for 2 years and I’ve been waiting for you to have a greenhouse! Ive always wanted one (a nice built one, not an amazon tent 😬) Super looking forward to greenhouse tips and info vids! 🌱
We lost our cat in much the same way. It's been over a year. I know there are coyotes in our area, but we hope a random crazy cat lady picked him up and is feeding him well and giving him lots of love. It might just be the truth. All the best to you from the Monterey Peninsula! I love your videos!
I'd love to see Christine do a video on gardening in a very wet climate! I live in the South, so not quite the same as her situation in Vancouver, but I know the PNW is wet and rainy as well. Even with grow bags and lots of perlite I am constantly battling overwatering from the rain!
The way that Jacques just puts the basil cuttings in the soil and the propagate is magical! That's the one thing I haven't been able to master yet in propagating plants. Love the videos guys! Thanks so much for all of the great knowledge!
On the lemongrass, pruning the leaves back drastically at the beginning, and bundling for drying makes the task much easier. It's also better for the plant as it's not trying to sustain the leaves while also recovering from the transplant. Using your Hori knife to separate the root ball is also a huge time saver. The Rosemary is beautiful, but again, pruning before transplant is a smart move.
How exciting! Can't wait to see the project. I ordered a greenhouse last summer but we didnt have time to build it, so it will now be a spring project. Also ordered a high tunnel this week, figured if we're already in building mode what's one more thing 😂
The myth I am choosing to believe for Babka is that she is leading the coyote pack and she has been doing recognizance for months before pulling a job Ocean's 11 style.
She spent the last 15 years in Africa studying the way of the world. Neck deep in literature of our first common ancestors, Babka acquired the skillset required to make a grown man move an herb bed multiple consecutive times.
Please tell me you didn't compost all those delicious Nasturtium leaves. They make such great chips (like kale chips, only waaaay better). Also, I could practically smell that lemongrass through the screen. I spent a lot time this year harvesting and processing it - and huffing (just say yes to lemongrass, lol)! - for making loose leaf teas. That's a bummer about Babka. Hopefully she'll turn up unharmed, but if not, I have no doubt she had the time of her life in your garden.
This is very helpful! I have to transfer 1 double raised bed and fix 1. Both raised beds are plastic and the plants in it destroyed the bottom part so I have to remove the soil to fix them. One raise bed is probably full of roots from the banana plant that keep multiplying every year and the other one probably has a lot of Jerusalem artichokes at the bottom. Thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it! ❤️🙏
I grew so much lemon grass in my garden from one plant a coworker gave me, in a year, that I had enough to break it apart and line the front of my five acres! The stuff goes crazy, it's really pretty and hardy. I live in here in Florida and the weird freeze we had I thought for sure it would kill it, it didn't, keeps coming back. As it gets tall it's going to be a natural "fence" across the front of our property. And I still have it growing in my garden!
I can't wait to see this greenhouse. I'm in a high wind area in the PNW and having been checking out their site and eyeballing one for the hopefully-near future.
Jeepers! That’s a big lemongrass. I’m re setting my herb bed this spring. I had a wood frame and it fell apart. I moved my lavender to my pollinator bed and will use old tires for mint (lined to protect the plant). I hope you have success with your projects. Hoping the cat is ok. Love your videos
Congrats on acquiring Botanical Interests! Love them and loved supporting a neighboring CO company (love you guys too so I'll still purchase) ;') Thanks for the tip on pulling onions up vs. apart - I'm always learning something new with your videos. 😊
The sitcom music at the beginning! 🤣Curious why the herbs aren't out front so they're near that door instead? (Not that you'll move them again... right?) Best wishes for world traveler Babka on her adventures! I'm sure she's out there being free-spirited and having fun somewhere.
I am having lemongrass envy! Cousin It... so true... that is the tallest one I have ever seen!! I moved some from my last house to this one and it didn't survive. I currently have a new one that is struggling to understand what season it is. Say a prayer! P.S. love your epic 6 pack pots. Best investment I have made in years!!
My old lady kitty went missing for 10 days and we could have sworn she got attacked by a coyote and was gone. She showed up and came through the window a little crusty, dehydrated, and hungry but ultimately fine! She's still with us and thriving, just gave us the biggest heart attack and sobbing filled time of our lives though! I'm praying for babka that she'll come home perfectly fine! It's very possible, if not likely, sometimes kitties just wander randomly and get lost but they make their way home!
I know what you were trying to say with the big bushers in the corners but the best you are going to get out of one of those corners is 180 not 270. You would need three sides of the plant to overhang to achieve 270.
Advice from a landscaper, dividing any hardy perennial from Hostas to lemon grass, rootball on the ground, line up your shovel and jump on it. Seems barbaric but very effective
Every time the video starts with both of you laughing, i get uncontrollable giggle and laughter, you guys have no idea how many times I gotta sanitize my phone from the snot rockets😂😅not cool
I finally had to give up on the garlic chives in my herb bed because they grew out of control. New plants were constantly popping up everywhere. Much like mint does. Put a plant in a pot and I cut off any flowers that would come on to prevent the seeds from going everywhere. I prefer onion chives anyways.
The Shovel Boys has good potential as a comedic spin off series! Thanks bc I really need to do this to a front bed that I let Mullein take over (although curiously the lone tomato plant in there had ZERO pest issues!). I may try to relocate that pairing to a different spot.
I am so happy to see you're still producing videos with your new epic business venture. Keep up the great work. Hope your babka returns soon. Hahaha, just say no to huff...unless your in the garden, then it's acceptable. 😉

The Shovel Boys! Thank you for all that you do for the gardening community.
Our pleasure!
babka is on a side quest. she will be back when she is ready for the main quest line again.
Maybe the garden was a side quest and she is, as someone else suggested, back to being the fearless, respected leader of the coyotes.

Genius idea 💡
Yall know I'm a sucker for the long form vids!!! The epic vids are so good even my kids enjoy them!
For this exact reason, I only plan to have a herb garden in half-a-dozen pots. 😅
Easier maintenance.
Y’all are too funny with the huffing. Made me smile so thank you for that. Love sent…💜
Feeling so validated by this I swear we're always moving shit around in our garden🙄
I just did this this year! Moved mine fine a raised bed to the ground!
Love watching y’all!! So fun and I always learn something while “hanging out” with my favorite UA-cam boys ❤

oh my goodness that was some major lemon grass! Cant wait to see your greenhouse Video! Im excited to see it, also your tips and tricks.
Best smelling grass skirt ever!!
Make sure to update us on the progress of this bed
A shame about Babka, here's hoping she's just got the wanderlust. Sometimes cats will just leave for a while and show up when they feel like it, fingers crossed 🤞.

It's glass panes! Light goes through
I loved the little homage to the 90s drug programs, that gave me a good laugh 😂That lemongrass was a beast though, I don't blame you for huffing it!
Hahaha gotta huff that stuff
When I lived in CA I'd just use rosemary and lavender as hedge borders.
People have always said nasturtium is a trap plant. Did you guys notice anything on the plants with that much there?
Not much in this crop!
Love all the work you're doing. Hope you remembering the take time for yourself.
Sending love to Babka ❤❤❤ I hope she was adopted by a cat lady and will meander over soon
Lemongrass tea rings for days 😋! Very satisfying video.
