The printer was a bit complicated to hook up ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 but it does the job very efficiently. I like the ink wells versus the ink cartages that cost an arm and a leg. It prints quickly and the quality is excellent. It shuts off when not in use, so you have to remember to turn it on. Overall, it exceeds my expectations. I'll update my review in a couple of months.
If anyone is having issues getting the wireless set up, connect the printer via USB to a laptop or PC and follow the CD software setup and it will prompt you through getting it in the network and to the point where you won't need the USB cable once finished.

Can't believe, Canon technical support couldn't help me resolving this issue, they sent me to my wireless phone provider ( of course they couldn't either) , I have not much understanding about how to resolve these issues but I found out that my printer needed a software update and that's what I did, problem solved by myself! I installed the MX 490 printer with the CD and the USB cable. I also installed the Canon Print app so I could print from my tablet and phone, but it won't print. I don't understand why the option of installing the printer through the CD and setting up wireless printing all at once isn't an option?

This worked but the app is not at all the same anymore so the steps for that are no longer super valid. Only now it only prints from the App and not my computer which is the goal. Turns out I just had to restart my gateway/modem and then restart the computer. Figures.

It was originally released in the Hong Kong and Indonesian markets in 2011, but has been retired from support. That's a really good question, Racheal! The Mac version of the manual for the PIXMA MX490 is 776 pages long. The Windows version is 1,004 pages long! That would make for two really thick, heavy books if we were to print them out. Instead, we included them as PDF files on the CD packaged with the printer. This saves paper, saves weight, and allows for more compact packaging. We hope this helps!

It sure can, Chris! You can follow the same steps shown in this video to get your PIXMA MX490 onto your network. You'll want to install the computer software on the CD that came with the printer, and if you're unable to use the CD, you can visit canon.us/kyg2 to download everything for free. Once you've got everything installed, your computer should be able to see the printer on your network.

I so wish I had someone to call to cry to everytime I need to print since this thing just never does anything like it says it will and its so sad. Just would like information to leave the computer into the printer and print it on paper and i thought thats what printers were for. What do I know

It was originally released in the Hong Kong and Indonesian markets in 2011, but has been retired from support. In the US, we had a similar model, the MX882 but it has also been retired from support, so no updates to drivers or software have been developed since 2016. Thanks for reaching out!

why the heck does not include a manual in it ..
That's a really good question, Racheal! The Mac version of the manual for the PIXMA MX490 is 776 pages long. The Windows version is 1,004 pages long! That would make for two really thick, heavy books if we were to print them out. Instead, we included them as PDF files on the CD packaged with the printer. This saves paper, saves weight, and allows for more compact packaging.
