@@therealchoiboy I wouldn't say that's exactly true. Weak-minded people can't think for themselves and they will use religion to justify their horrendous beliefs. But there are strong-minded deeply religious people that have a better head on their shoulders. Their "dependency" on religion is just shown differently. One person's dependency on religion might look like parroting what other people say without thinking for themselves while another may adopt the "just live and let God" approach (which is saying "I have no control over this, so whatever happens happens. I have to trust in God's plan to get through this").

Also, I can testify, as, again, a non-conforming teen in the South, the only satan worshippers are edgy teens rebelling against the pressures of god-fearing religions being pushed and assumed about them from birth. My family didn't push it, but even as I've grown more okay with God-based religions and try to empathize more than freak out, especially as I've seen many people show that the values of loving everyone is more important to them than the "FORCE PEOPLE TO WORSHIP OUR SKY DADDY" and stuff, like, I don't mind it at all anymore. However, partially due to how I grew up, due to the way people act about it, and due to my gothic nature, I still enjoy "satanic symbols". It's just my vibe.

Also, seeing pastors like freaking out over the portrayal of Satan (to the point where it seems like they’re defending his honor or something) is also hilarious.

My friend has a very religious roommate in college. One time he brought a girl home and was going to have sex before marriage (GASP). I always get so annoyed by christians who seem to seriously believe that christianity is the only religion and that everyone must follow christianity or must act in a way that is deemed “acceptable” by them

In all seriousness through, I feel like the woman at around 7:00 is an example of someone who wouldn’t be homophobic if it weren’t for the bible. She’s not (as far as I can tell) coming from a place of hate. She doesn’t seem to be saying that he’s disgusting or whatever a lot of homophobic people do, but she seems genuinely distressed. It seems to me that she’s simply terrified for him because she’s been taught that he’s going to suffer for eternity because he’s gay.
I’m not saying this to suggest that what she’s saying is correct or not harmful, I just think it’s interesting to see the two types of people in these types of arguments. There are the ones that are genuinely scared for people and the ones who are purely hateful.

This was when I was a “ born again Christian” and I really liked the people in the church but still it wasn’t for me in the long run. I was Catholic since i could remember till I became of adult age and chose my own. But it did more harm than good.

thanks for actually pointing out that satanism isn't devil worship. I have a friend who is a self proclaimed satanist and she is the kindest person ever. She follows LaVey satanism and their sole "rule" is just "an eye for an eye" (as far as i've understood it).
Satanism has nothing to do with the devil, they just simply don't agree with the church and what it stands for.

I didnt wanna hurt his feelings so I was like "ok, um sure". And so I was laying in my bed and he pulled up a chair and had his hands raised up, praying really loud, and my roommate and I were just looking at eachother like o.o. and then he left, and I still had the flu. It didn't help.
