Hope you enjoy the video, this was easily my longest commentated speedrun ever, so enjoy 3 hours of straight speedrun tech and glitch breakdowns!
(Also mini correction: At 2:28 when I said 28, I meant to say 18 units of speed)
Love your content

"rediscovered" is another word for stealing credit.
So in my experience when playing the randomizer the auction house is in such a way that when you leave and re-enter the likelihood of it showing the same item again is higher than a different one. That being said you can kind of mess with that by entering the room talking to the auctioneer declining leave the room then re-enter and do the auction. This should change the item more often than not.
Epilepsy Warning every time link prepares for the super swim thing
If i had a dollar for every time Linkus explained Manual Super Swim i would probably have a fortune, which isnt bad, but very interesting.
I enjoy explaining most speedrun tricks in this game, but MSS is something I wish would just go away at this point LMAO
@@Linkus7 Your explanations are top notch 🔥
@@Linkus7 it's iconic at this point. If you don't do it then we riot.
It’s linkus’s “imagine you’re waiting for a bus”
ACTUALLY interesting
2:22:30
I LOVE learning random trivia about childhood games I thought I knew by heart.
Heres one I love : Phantom Hourglass
If you leave the phantom ship without taking the heart piece ; you will receive a letter from the devs saying : Haven't you forget something ?
Shame you can't revisit the ship to collect the rupoors if you missed them
speedruns never stop being funny. "I ripped the souls out of these slime creatures, then pushed all but one of them into the corner of walls in such a way that they get sent miles away using gaps in reality, and i do the same to the last one but count _precisely_ when its body dissipates into the aether so that i can position myself to get crushed and swallowed by this tree. This little maneuver saved us about two minutes!"
This type of video is definitely one of the greatest resources for getting into wind waker speedrunning.
It also is just very entertaining to watch Linkus be such a monster at this game that he can perform the speedrun while explaining the nittygritty of all the crazy strategies.
Listening to linkus explain the backwards swim is like listening to Bob Ross paint a canvas I love it every time
Me: *thinking about going to bed
Linkus: *uploads video
*2hrs later
Me: *thinking about going to bed
I swear that is literaly whats happening to me this moment XD
Bruh😅
Way too accurate. Are you me? We are one?
this is happening to me right now
Just do what I do and watch it IN bed
I love that you showcase this game on the original released compared to your most luckiest run on the HD version of Wind Waker. It’s interesting how some strategies were way ahead and some were awesome to be showcased. Thank you Linkus7 and your content is so good.
Thanks for explaining how the swimming glitch worked, I saw it in and animation for speed runs and always wondered how it worked.
I had a long drive today and this perfectly matched the time.
I’ve watched enough Linkus speedruns to see the game in my minds eye while the audio played :)
It's 2024 and Linkus is still explaining super swimming. Life is good.
I'm sure other people have done this but your my favorite but still what a flex, speed running a game while talking about every detail about how to speed run the game, that proves you know what your doing and I'm pretty sure you have two brains.
Linkus is so cute when he explains stuff, he looks so passionate it's absolutely adorable :D ♥
finally another long form video, i dont know how well they do on your channel, but i really enjoy them!
I think this is the first time I've ever seen you do the MSS without pause buffering and I was not expecting it
LOVED this video. You're so good at explaining speedrunning glitches and strategies in a way that casual players can understand!
The endurance it takes to do a run like this while explaining it and being in front of a live audience is impressive, good job Linkus!!
The guy that “rediscovered” that skip defiantly seen the previous one haha he had too, great story tho that’s very interesting It’s crazy that people were on this grind back then, we live in a cool time haha. Love your commentary and how you’ve explained things throughout the video great video man!
Linkus is so great at explaining what’s happening and the editing was clean
Linkus accidentally using Grandma's fairy absolutely killed me for all imaginable reasons.
Back to back Linkus uploads that's epic
I like the sentence "The old methods used to involve a glitch called memory corruption, but nowadays, we use a bomb."
Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game! Linkus is the GOAT too. love the pronunciation of BomB.
Linkus spoiling us with back to back uploads
In general; 100% speedruns are too much for me, even just to watch. However, there are some games that, no matter how long they are; I always enjoy watching them the whole way through. OoT and WW are the main two of those games. I don't keep up with the scene, so whenever I get to see one again, a bunch of stuff about the run has changed, and it's always a delight! I still remember the day Barrier Skip was first accomplished, then when it was first replicated and this game was blown wide open! WW will always be one of my favourite games to watch speedruns in, whether it's 100% or not; it's just such a charming game!
I was just wondering the other day why Linkus hadn't uploaded to main in over a month. Guess I know now lmao time to grab popcorn and dig into the newest feature
I've never broken the armor before, I've always assumed you HAD to take it off
Learned so much about my favorite games in this run. Great job as always!
WW potato code is what makes it such an amazing game, one of the most entertaining LoZ speedruns.
If I was a giant flaming murder machine and a small blonde foreign child walked into my room saying. "So now that we got some down time-" I would pray for my life.
Manual Super Swim is the same kind of mechanic that Source Engine Speed Runners use. Valve said "No Bunny Hopping to go Fast. We will subtract your speed if you go too fast."
So, players say, "OK. We Bunny Hop, backwards."
And when the player goes fast, the game says, "MORE Negative speed." But, since the player is going backwards fast, it's MORE Backwards FAST Time. This trick is known as ABH.
At least I think I got the description of what is going on, correct.
Pretty much, the game does intentionally add 3 units of negative speed to slow you down when you turn around, so we ONLY do that action in the water to build speed.
This guy is the gamer equivalent of Batman.
So you get the sword on the cut scene... what happens if you try to get the sword of the off-set island when you already have it?
i fell asleep during this vodep and your voice was in my dreams... it was... weirldy nice
1:04:56
*talks about bridge skip*
Not very relatable
*mistimes bomb throw*
Suddenly very relatable
2:15:38 was my favourite line.
No for super swim his speed does not increase exponentially it increases linearly because you are only adding -3
How can you commentate a 5 hour run in 2 1/2 hours?
"Well, we are now past the 4 minuet intro cutscene" 🤣
So you're telling us at the start of the video that Sploosh Kaboom used to kill runs 80% of the time almost an hour in, but 3 hours 15 in, that medli-less setup doesn't?? Wind Waker runners are goats, all of them, its nuts!
you are awesome dude! love your content
My first time being this early! :0
Quality content/commentary as always!
Watched all the way through after a few days.
this makes me wanna get a wii u and play this game casually
Hey i speedrun majoras mask glitchless. I dont do gliches for a reason, the routing is VERY COMPLICATED. Its nice that you can put gliches like maual super slide into words LIVE is cool. Keep it up
Also for those wondering
I speedrun majoras mask 3d for nintendo 3ds
The catagory i do is 100 glichless because it is the most fun in my opinion
My best time is 6 hours 32 minutes
Full stream somewhere?
I love this game
2:13:24 hi me from six days in the past
Linkus saw summoningsalt's movie he posted earlier and went
Bet
7:07 I wish I could get hired that quickly... 😢
Yeah, but you didn't get the Tingle statues
Tower of Pogs
omg it's tower of the pogs
Good video
Moral of the story: Nintendo had beef with the Japanese community, so they made the game *hell*
Love how Linkus is so inside the Zone during the entirety of the video to the point that twitch chat is nonexistant and that makes this feel like a separate video of it's own rather than an edited VOD. Now that's impressive (Still, the route showcased on this video is completely bonkers aaand it also serves as a proof that EVERY videogame is completely broken on their core, and given enough time 100% speedrunning evolves into super-complex, multi-layered optimized routes that are mini-speedruns on their own which is completely insane to me) Simply perfect
For how few rupees the Japanese version has, maybe the 10 rupees at the end of the Savage Laberynth *are* meant to be a real reward
Crazy how he can explain the whole speed run while doing said speed run
And got a decent time with it too
Fun fact: The Forbidden Woods are actually a corrupted version of the Kokiri Forest. You can actually see remnants of the Kokiri Village.
I've never understood how landmarks keep shifting their locations, including vertically. In Ocarina of time, Kokiri Village wasn't really any higher than most of the map. Hyrule must be very geologically unstable, otherwise that entire place would be deep underwater, just like Hyrule Castle. (I know it's for gameplay reasons.)
@@jaredbarker9515 Lurelin Village in BotW is Outset Island.
The Temple of Time at the Great Plateau is OoT Castle Town.
@@jaredbarker9515It's not supposed to make sense. They redesign Hyrule every game for game-design reasons, not lore reasons.
@@jaredbarker9515If you want to look at it from a lore perspective, consider the second word in the title of most games in the franchise: Legend. They're all legends. With legends, including those in real life, details can get muddied, exaggerated, and mixed up. So all the inconsistencies in the games can easily be chalked up to the way legends evolve over time. So far, the layout considered 'the most official' for Hyrule is the one laid out in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, since that's the latest version. It also bears countless references to the other legends with landmarks named after characters from those old tales.
@@jaredbarker9515 I assume that when they dropped an ocean of water on the place they moved some things around so that pockets of civilization would survive the cataclysm instead of most of it drowning because it wasn't mountainous enough.
I fell asleep watching this and it REALLY messed with my dreams, especially "nothing bad could ever happen to Makar-- *Makar shrieks*"
Full-game long speedrun explanations are my jam. Love the showcase of routing and hard tricks.
Watching the Live Stream was fun, thanks for cutting it down by a good amount and taking all the time to explain it.
One of my favorite games as a child. I'm glad it still has relevance after over 20 years
Nah don’t tell me it’s been that long 😭😭
I wasn't paying attention to your little box in the corner during the first half of the game and I assumed you were watching a recording of your own run, because doing a run with so many crazy tricks WHILE explaining them seemed insane to me. And then... I looked where your hands were. Holy shit, dude. You're incredible for explaining these so damn well AND speedrunning the game at the same time?! Incredible!
I believe the reason tingle is so expensive lore wise is so he is able to buy himself more outfits since in one of the tingle tuner flavor texts he mentions that his outfit 398 rupees.
Love these kind of Linkus long form vids. Almost like a GDQ playthrough with the explainations. Very relaxing and great entertainment!
Somebody should make a Wind Waker / Twilight Princess combo randomizer.
Archipelago exists, with more games being added all the time. Hopefully that'll be possible soon.
I love this as a concept for showing off everything. Feels like a very good introduction someone trying to grasp the whole of a speedrun in a way i havent really seen before. At least not with quite as much detail/live
Spirit tracks is such an underrated game with amazing music, I'm happy to hear more and more people using its ost
3 HOUR SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED??? FROM THE HITMAN COWBOY HIMSELF??? HYPE
I wish more speedrunners would break down their runs like this. This was incredibly informative, even as a more casual player myself. I learned a ton about the game and some cool trivia.
I wish the video was 7 hours long
Linkus explaining the earth temple skip was like spongebob explaining to squidward how to blow a bubble
i am so glad people are still making videos on this game. Wind Waker was my first zelda game and i love watching the speedruns with all the crazy glitches. Thank you linkus :D
Zelda Wind Waker speedruns have always been a treat to watch. Despite enjoying the run, I must admit that I didn't fully understand everything that was going on. So this video is much appreciated!
2:21:45 There's also the fact that all of these Treasure Chests are still in the international releases, so you'd still have to get them anyway for 100%
These sunken chest only contain rupees on the international releases, so they are not required to fish up for 100%. It's a combination of the different heart piece locations (mainly savage labyrinth) and text that makes JP a lot faster than US or PAL. Also, you have to visit all these islands for other reasons as well, so adding one chest to salvage is far from bad.
2:15:54 that edit was clean.. major props!
Loved watching this live! So hype to see it edited!
Windwaker is my favorite in the franchise and am always a fan of seeing it speedrun. Explanations were fantastic ❤ can’t wait for the next stream!
Windwaker taught us a bunch of great lessons, including that the literal Zelda translation for 'BIG BROTHER!!!!' is OOIIIII
This video right here is PrimeTime Linkus7, Great fucking job brother. Literally make some popcorn and just watch.
3:18 "Link's speed will exponentially be increased..."
No, that's clearly just an arithmetic increase. 0/10 mathematics, video is literally unwatchable. :P
Instructions unclear: didn't save grandma
"It might of looked easy"
Dude, that medley skip is the farthest thing from simple, who looks at that set up and thinks it's simple?
Two and a half hours of zelda content? HELL YEAH!
3:24 linearly not exponentially
Literally explains how it is linear, then calls it exponential lol
*gets pulled over*
Linkus: "now, since this is a speedrun, I'm gonna leave this area."
*phases through wall*
Can you upload vods to your vod channel ? :D
Nah why is he sooooo good at explaining this… WHILE LIVE AND SPEEDRUNNING??L? Teach me
You dont understand how my brain time traveled when you mentioned 'Kazooie'. I was just teenager lurking on youtube, looking at all the cool zelda glitches people were finding every day. I remember when barrier skip was found, i even remember when Door of Time skip was found, Ganondoor, etc. I wish I could go back
Commenting for engagement, love your channel and your streams :)
Next explain the entire totk 100% speed run. every detail, uncut, do it, you know you want to, do it
Hey linkus! I doubt you will see this but every time you make a speed run video and you explain the tricks is very appreciated! I personally don't care to speed run games, but I love watching speedrun content. You are by far the best speedrun content creator out there, you take your time to actually explain tricks and glitches for people to understand and It really helps people like me understand how it works, thank you so much!
ua-cam.com/video/SFVsHAUt4Ik/v-deo.html spongebob right before he blows a bubble.
This was so much fun. This kind of long-form video helps me sleep at night. Not because it's boring, no - it's just relaxing.
Lets goo I've been waiting for this video since it was the first linkus live stream i ever caught it was cool nothing my name as chat passes was such a fun experience 100% recommend hanging out in a linkus live stream if you've never caught one
I could listen to Linkus talk Zelda allll daayyy looonggg
Speedruns have two meaning to their names: incredibly fast past runs and the one completed is on SPEED
Can someone explain to me why final input isn't when you stop the time? Why do you have to wait for the stab to finish? It's an incredibly stupid rule
Wow cool I was mentioned here. Thanks Linkuxs7! This brings back a lot of memories.
I am so confused by the cut at 6:52. Linkus explains that you need to beat the mail game three times. After the first round, the video cuts to him saying "And 3/3", implying that he played the game two more rounds during the cut. However, the speedrun timer actually goes back in time a few seconds, where he is now saying something else at the same speedrun timestamp than before (i.e. the first time the speedrun timer gets to 14:57.x, Linkus says "heart piece", but after the cut at video timestamp 6:52, the speedrun timer once again arrives at 14:57.x where Linkus says "And 3/3"). Did the video cut to a different run? But why would the chat then be consistent with the back-in-time cut? It doesn't make sense! What happened?
14:00 "I won't be continuing to kind of stop to explain things throughout this whole run [...]"
So--you aren't going to explain everything in a video titled "Speedrun Explained". Right, then.
Probably one of the best explained long speedruns i've ever seen. you can just see from the start how he enjoys explaining all those techniques and pulling them off like a robot. Can only highly recommend this to every speedrun enthusiast.
