I know its just a quick line, but it does strike me as odd that the 15th Doctor is so sure he likes fish fingers and custard. I thought each regeneration had different, randomised, taste buds and the 11th Doctor just happened to have particularly unconventional ones. Having fish fingers and custard trancend regenerations kind of devalues the entire first episode with 11, where we learn about what makes him special.

I think it was more of a throw-away reference than a carefully thought-out character study.

I think my headcanon is that the Doctor's gonna keep assuming they like what they liked before, like how 11 was so sure what he wanted was an apple before he decided he hates apples now. 15 might eat fish fingers and custard and go "oh no what was I thinking"

He had hated Pears since #10 through #12 tho.

Seems like some tastes stick while others change. Chances are he's had time to try fishfingers and custard already to confirm that he still enjoys it. Or he just assumed.

Some tastes stick some don't, as another commentator pointed out the dislike of pears is consistent. Personally I like this one for the implication that the taste of fish custard never left him, the idea of Capaldi or Whittaker still having that craving and ashamedly eating it when no-one is around is funny to me
