❤ "Nothing ever lasts forever" "So sad they have to fade it" 😢
I was born in the early 2000s, but everytime I hear this song (80s songs in general) I imagine all the memories that other people have from this song and it makes me happy.
My Dad would take me out on dark country roads just to cruise with 80s music since I was very little. It started from me being scared of the dark and not being ablw to sleep but it turned into a bonding experience. He said this is this song he had playing on the way to driving my mother to the hospital when she was going into labour.

Despite all the joke comments, this is the first song I remember hearing. I was 5 years old, on the way to pre-school. The intro and first lyrics “welcome to your life” changed something in me. At first I thought it was a joke, a song made up for me. I decided that probably wasn’t true, which led to me realizing I had my whole life in front of me. I was just a little kid. I looked up at my mom driving, realizing I’d be her age one day. I remember every detail of that moment. The plastic texture of the red booster seat. The upholstery in the back seat of our Dodge Caravan. I’m 34 now. I’ve always wondered how and why I had such a profound experience to this song. When I hear it today, I still get that same feeling that I did in the booster seat. What is that feeling? How can it be so palpable yet somehow indescribable to this day?
Same here. I heard it in my cousins bedroom as a child. Looking out of the window and hearing this song for the first time. Really hit me. What an absolute classic.
It seems to be a strange recurring thing where something totally random happens as a kid that gives us an existential crisis and from then on we are a conscious being
This was one of my Dad’s favorite songs and every time I hear it it fills me up with happiness and sadness, Sadly he passed away a couple weeks ago but I know wherever you are you’re steady jamming 😊 Thank You for showing me Good Music!!
My condolences to you man, I lost my dad back in November last year. It’s been hard ever since. Listening to the same music he did is hard but it keeps his spirit close. Makes it feel like they are still here you know?
I was a high schooler during the eighties and got to see def leppard, rolling stones, prince, DM, michael and Janet jackson and wham they were always good fun times. I don't know why people need drugs when the experience is enough to get you high
Weed is awesome though if you don't enjoy it that's ok but it's ok if people enjoy smoking some to vibe to the experience in the way they feel better suits them
Who would have known the 80’s would be so damn good. Now that I’m in my 50’s I have tears listening to the 80 music. I tell my kids how much fun we had and it can never be duplicated.

My daughter was five years old when this was released. She'd be in her child-seat in the back of the car and we'd sing the chorus together every time it came on the radio. The nostalgia is so strong when I hear the song.
Why does this song give off last day of school vibes? It feels happy, cause no more work for a while and you never see annoying people again , but sad cause you will never see some friends again also some lyrics just fit like nothing ever lasts forever, so glad we almost made it, and sad we had to end it. Lyrics line up along with vibes.
I woke up to my last day of high school today with a desire to listen to this song and it just now really clicked that this is the end of a large part of my life i've known some of my friends since childhood and knowing I wont see some of them for a long time maybe never, is an unearthly feeling. Now for what happens next.
I love the synths of the 80's. No matter what era you are born in, they capture emotion and nostalgia, something that just makes you feel good. Modern Synthwave music is my go to these days, it's like synth overload, but soooo good.

the "Nothing ever lasts forever" hits me hard. It's incredible how we never stop to think about it not from a sad perspective. Everytime i hear this line being sung, i feel joy. We can really make this carnal experience worth it while we're here, knowing that nothing will last. It's positive nihilism condensed in one line when you think about it.
It sounds so good. I'm a 90s baby and I grew up with goonies, Beverly hills cop, breakfast club and weird science. I grew with all those classics because my parents loved them so much. I cant thank them enough. I learned what 80s kids had and somehow I miss what was never mine. It's sad but happy. I love this. And I'll never forget those memories that I had from these movies and music and the life of then. Always wanted to rule the world.

I felt the same way when I first heard this song in 1985 on MTV. The video was on MTV every day throughout the day. This band had such a new fresh sound and was considered very progressive. Everyone loved Tears for Fears back then. MTV aired music videos 24 hours a day throughout the entire decade. It was amazing. Oh, how I miss the 1980's ! Another song you might like is "Be near me" by the band ABC. Same year, 1985 the song reached number 1 on the charts. Enjoy!

Same😭 my mom played this all the time when I was younger
It seems to be a strange recurring thing where something totally random happens as a kid that gives us an existential crisis and from then on we are a conscious being

the "Nothing ever lasts forever" hits me hard. It's incredible how we never stop to think about it not from a sad perspective. Everytime i hear this line being sung, i feel joy. Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you
So glad we've almost made it
So sad they had to fade it

Mi hijo tiene 10 años ahora y acaba de descubrir que le encanta esta canción, creo que está desarrollando buen gusto
no crea, realmente va por un grupo que es arte de verdad se lo aseguro...
Creo que le gustó por los skibidi toilets
If you enjoyed listening to this on the radio, imagine being the one who PLAYED IT on the radio. This was one of the songs that made me the most listened to DJ in my market in the ‘80s. I’d put this song on and the phones would light up. Listeners couldn’t get enough of TFF. Played Head Over Heals and got the same reaction.
That's so cool! it must feel amazing bringing so much joy to many people! Thank you for sharing this memory with us
Jim Swaringen That’s amazing where abouts was your station based?
It's a great record .. they were underrated
Verdade
Weird flex but ok

Welcome to your life
There's no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you
Acting on your best behaviour
Turn your back on mother nature
Everybody wants to rule the world
It's my own design
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most
Of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you
So glad we've almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world
I can't stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
Everybody wants to rule the world
Say that you'll never never never never need it
One headline why believe it ?
Everybody wants to rule the world
All for freedom and for pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
PRICK WITH LYRICS ALERT!!

Born in 1964 and I can honestly say the 80s were best time of my life in England and this song was part of it wish I could go back to this time of my life sadly I can't.
Well I was born in 2005 but I like 80s music
😂 - a 64baby as well - this was inspirational 80’s music - great band
this may very well be the best song of all time. It's simplicity is so soothing, but the way the chorus builds up is just outstanding. God bless the 80's. So glad we almost made it, so sad they had to fake it.
Austin Cook I agree best song ever
I agree great group I remember in85was 18

Idk about #1, but close!!
It is the quintessential 80's song and in my opinion, the best song from that era.
My 7 year old son and my 2 year old daughter are is obsessed with this song! Watching my kiddos dance and sing to this makes me so happy. :) such good vibes
@your-average-techdecker-Axelfr
@your-average-techdecker-Axel So what if the kiddos like it? They hear music from a different time period that I lived through and I think thats great. Let them be kids. Time moves faster than you think it does.
