  • Celebrating the Freedom to Read: Book Banning, Censorship, and Democracy: A Panel in Collaboration with American Association of School Librarians
    Antioch University and the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) brought together a panel of experts for an evening of conversation around democracy, censorship, libraries, and books. Speakers include Miranda Doyle, adjunct faculty at Antioch University, a librarian for the Southern Oregon Education Services District, a winner of the Intellectual Freedom Award in Oregon, and currently supporting schools in the Klamath County School District; Dr. Sheri Massey, school librarian and 2023 Maryland School Librarian of the Year; and Allison Jennings-Roche, PhD, librarian and expert on censorship and democracy. The panel was moderated by Becky Calzada, American Association of School Librarians president, the District Library Coordinator in Leander, TX, and a co-founding member of Texas #Freedom Fighters
