Stannis is at the wall for exactly that: for what Mellisandre saw in the flames. It was badly explained on the show but in the books Stannis is really a man of duty and as The One True King, given that they saw a menace beyond the wall, he went there for a simple reason, the protect the realm. Cause he sees it as his job.

There was like the whole scene where Melisandre spares Davos' life because he tells then about The Wall and she says it's more important and they need him, but yeah absolutely no foreshadowing even on a rewatch
That was truly the only bit of foreshadowing and They breezed right by it. Melisandra saying the real war is to the North is the very end of that scene and so much shit has happened since then it's unbelievable. For some reason that just made one of my peeve's pop into my head and I don't know why. I know I'm probably not spoiling anything because I believe Ryan was the only newbie to the show. But just in case all I will say about it is it bugs me later on this is it bugs me later on that people forget get that lady Olenna flat out told Margery that she was responsible for joffrey dying.
Hey guys, there was a reason for Stannis to go to the Wall. Davos read a letter from the Night's Watch that was sent to all 5 kings, asking for help. Melisandre then looked into her flames and confirmed the threat that was coming from beyond the Wall. "This war of 5 kings means nothing, the true war lies to the North, my king" That's when Stannis decided to do the right thing, and try and save the 7 kingdoms from the real danger.
Thank you for editing and releasing these, it must be very hard to do. But maybe it is the same as for us, a mixture of utter sadness and being thankful that we get to spend a little more time and remember :*
It warms my heart how sweet, funny, and in tune with each other you three are in these videos (and good call keeping in the continued conversation during the pee break!). It’s intense watching everything through the lens of our current reality with Ryan having passed on (and thank you again for taking on the difficult task of editing this footage for us). It hit me hard when I heard “You’ll never walk again, but you will fly.” That’s how I envision Ryan now-checking out everything within the 13.7 billion light years of our universe (and more if there are multiverses?), learning which things they got right or wrong on “Rick and Morty,” and just being totally unbound by physical limitations. I also had another thought when Ryan said he was expecting the old guy to say “but you will climb” instead (I don’t know anyone’s name yet-I’ve jumped way ahead to watch you guys). Ryan was such a spider monkey from the time he was an infant, and I bet in relating to that boy’s character he imagined that he himself would just be using his arms to get around. I’m guessing I may learn as I watch the actual episodes that the idea of “climbing” has a more significant metaphorical meaning here, but anyone who’s ever seen Ryan climb trees, balconies, etc. can tell you he’d have gotten on just fine on a pair of arms alone. He’d often spot some opportunity to get in some crazy climbing, and suddenly that mischievous smile would start on his face, then he’d burst into an opera song he was making up on the spot while gaily pulling off these feats of strength and daring. My mom and I are gonna start on season one, episode two tonight with our Patreon! Can’t wait to watch the unedited stuff from start to finish!
There are 2 people who get asked the question, "how have you lived so long?" Those 2 people are the hound and tormund. It's interesting (and pointless) to me that Ryan pointed out that the Hound has taken a LOT of damage in this show. So it's interesting that Tormunds answer to the question is a nonchalant "I'm good at killing people" but the Hounds answer sticks directly to Ryan's point. He said "I'm a big fucker, and I'm hard to kill." Truth. 😆😆
Remember when Stannis was gonna execute Davos but he made Stannis read the letter from the nights watch and Melissandre spared him because the real war was to the north and death marches on the wall. So yes Stannis' move was forseen.
My head cannon is that ygritte is actually tormonds daughter, the whole kissed by fire thing lol and he oddly has a soft spot for her especially since he never took her
You know years ago back when season 4 the Final Chapter swords are going to be released there was actually a special screening on IMAX theaters in Chicago I was able to get tickets for me and my cousin we both saw it and the screen was so huge and big we had to tilt their heads was an amazing experience seeing both the Epic watches from the wall and the amazing season finale which in my opinion was the last great episode of Game of Thrones before it all went downhill
i would enjoy it.. but never with a stark lover.. worst fans of the show that love a family that deserves to be wiped out by Danny as soon as she arrives in westeros for helping robert usurp the throne

Every time I've rewatched that episode, I love it even more.
