Hi, thanks for the camera review.
I have a question - is there a 30 minute recording limit when the camera is purchased in Europe, are you aware of this?

There isn't but depending on the sd card I think it will split the video up into 2gb files

    nice review.
i got the AX43A recently and is just starting to learn how to shoot videos. am testing out its built-in mic to see if i should get external ones for better sound. the still images are pretty good in bright daylight but not super duper, due to its sensor size.
APS-C or full frame sensors will definitely beat these Handycams, but these Handycams have lenses that will almost beat those used by blogging cams (price & size).
good to know i'm not the only one getting a Handycam in 2024. Sadly, i doubt manufacturers are releasing any new models. 😥

I agree with the sensor size part. Definitely makes a difference, and when paired with the right lens, you can get amazing shots with big sensors.
But manufacturers not releasing new models is really disappointing, I just saw that the AX53 is discontinued now, which means the ax43a is the only camcorder that sony still sells. And probably also the last one.

@@ImportantTech with the Handycam, whatever sensor is in it, its always paired with a very good lense, amazing optical zoom range with large aperture. at an incredibly reasonable price.
Sony still sells the ultra budget Handycam HDR-CX405. in stores, all i can find is really old video cams from Canon with HDD memory. i am still getting to know my AX43A, hope it will last for many years. 🙏 😇

Depends on what you prefer. A camcorder doesn't have the typical smartphone look, has smooth zoom, buttons to easily change settings, but it is also big. And something extra that has to be carried around.
A smartphone is always with you, and these days the image quality of smartphones is also good. And it has the option for an even wider field of view with the ultra wide lens.
Also, if you quickly want to share a video with someone, the smartphone is much easier. Whereas a camera you have to first transfer the files to a phone or PC.

Can I charge it unlimitedly with a power bank with a dummy battery instead of a battery? What products are compatible??

Taking my time deciding whether to get this #53 . . . or the #700 with its ND filters and 1-inch sensor. Now I’m worried they will be gone soon!

Really depends on your preference and what you want to spend. I've had the older version of the ax700 and the full manual control buttons and ND filters are an amazing feature to have. It really is a professional camera with professional features. The picture profile options on the 700 are also a nice addition, and with the larger sensor you get more background separation.
But it is more expensive, bigger, heavier, has less zoom, and less stabilisation.
Both are great options in my opinion

Better hurry up - the AX53 is now discontinued.

Handycams are still best for certain use. Zoom Out feature can mimic those shots that is possible only with a drone.
