- The reborn GMC Hummer all-electric pickup delivered all the off-road chops we expect from a Hummer, plus the supercar-like acceleration of a high-performance EV that we didn’t expect. Well, now things have come full circle, as the Hummer is once again an SUV. So, let’s burn up some rubber, and some electrons, and learn what’s next for Hummer.

2 words. VERY TUFF. this 10,000 pound beast is very FAST. well done GM. i hope there will be more HUMMER EVs like this one. hmm, what about a 7 seat version of it. one day.
I bought a 2005 H2 Hummer off of a guy whose company had bought him a brand-new, loaded Hummer EV. He gave me a ride in it and yes, it is very nice, very gigantic and super fast! I loved it!
I sold my Hummer EV before it was delivered. It's the most advanced vehicle I've ever driven. Big and stupid? Yes! Tons of fun? Even more so.
Weighs as much as a tow truck!
With level 1 charging it would take 3 days to charge it
But it's still pretty cool
So maybe use level two or go to a fast charger instead of a 110 outlet. Not like The only option is 110
People should need a CDL for something like this. It is above the weight limit for several roads in my area.
😂😂😂
Different qualifications and rules involved but having a CDL is like earning pilot wings. 😮
It's impressive how something so big and heavy can be so quick. E beast.
Now everyone else on the road is going to feel compelled to buy a 4-5000lb suv so they don't get completely obliterated in a wreck with a 8000lb truck that can accelerate as fast as a Ferrari from 15 years ago. We're moving the needle up in the direction of huge, heavy cars in a safety arms race.
My Lexus 2017 RC350 AWD f-sport weighs almost exactly as much as a ford edge. Not far off from 4,000 lbs
Sedans and coupes have gotten heavy it’s not just SUV’s.
Obviously the heavier the better off you’ll be but I’m just pointing out modern sedans and coupes aren’t exactly light on their feet either
@@Vben-z2f this is 5 tons my guy
My 2018 AWD BMW 5-series is only 3600 and that car is huge.
Kind of a moot point considering the roads are full of dump trucks and 18 wheelers. These things are more of a halo vehicle and won’t move that many units.
@@pieswimmer1 and the sky is blue.
did I say it wasn’t heavy? The original commenter said people will be compelled to buy 4,000-5,000 lbs suvs and trucks.
I’m simply pointing out sedans and coupes are quickly approaching that weight range as well. So not exactly as big of a benefit to buy a 4,000lbs suv when there are sedans and coupes that weight that much.
I had to laugh when he said “pollution free”. I guess smoke coming off of tires doesn’t count. Not to mention the over 4 tons of various metals (including lithium) and plastic it took to build this thing. That just comes from magic.
I’m pretty sure he’s just talking about tailpipe emissions. it’s Ok.
If only you knew what he actually meant…. Oh that’s right you did.
Yeah, it's emissions free, but it is not pollution free. There was a poor choice of words.
Didn’t know they had an Electric Hummer in 1997
That torque number is not accurate. I know that's what GM is reporting, but they're playing games with the gear ratios. I'm sure their actual torque number is outstanding, but incredibly lower than 11,500. It's ridiculous and false advertising.
@frontxxrunner For a long time GM has been modest about their powertrains' actual output..that torque number is ridiculous but someone's going to dyno it as higher on UA-cam in the near future
That's commendable that if anything, they give a cautiously low range estimate. Tesla, on the other hand, has gotten in trouble for stretching the truth about the range of its vehicles.
You can get a 40+ foot Cornhusker hopper bottom trailer that weighs less than this tank.
Ealier in the summer i saw a Hummer EV truck on a lawn with for sale signs in the window 😅
Earlier today, I saw ice trucks with for sale signs on them in yards. Oh wait ppl put for sale signs on cars/trucks everyday. Yep on both ice and ev.
The Cybertruck makes this look quite ordinary, but I a GOOD way. I wish I saw more of these on the road too!
"polution-free" hahahaha
Every house should have a hummer in their driveway.
I’d like to test drive one of these, while it won’t be the most useful or efficient vehicle on the road, it is interesting at the very least without being polarizing.
Just imagine how fast this thing would be if the top speed wasn’t electronically limited.
We built something no one needs …but people will always do something to think they need something 🎉
Time for the semi truck family hauler😂
Ah yes the GMC comeback car, at over $100k..... wtf were they thinking.
No...
What’s funny is that this new Hummer has the same range as the old H2 in weights very close to that as well, but is much much faster.
If they put a range extender ICE in the front, I would be on board tbh! I am sure the 2.7 I-4 from the Canyon and Colorado would fit under the hood and would be a perfect engine to use as a generator.
And 24 hour charge times !! No thanks !
I’m sorry but why is no one talking about the fact that this thing makes 11,000 lb-ft of torque? Thats absolutely bonkers for any passenger EV.
He did
@@ro1857I meant people in the comments section ya dingus
I thought you meant, why is no one pointing out that it DOESN'T have 11,500 FT LBS of torque. I'm shocked that made it through editing. I guess the repeat numbers without question journalism has reached everywhere now.
@@rexseven93 Holy crap you’re right. According to Car and Driver they multiplied the torque by the final drive ratio to get that number, the actual torque is closer to 700 or 800 lb ft. So they’re being intentionally misleading.
What happened to that exciting MotorWeek music ?
I don’t trust the reliability of GMs ICE vehicles, no way I’d trust them with electric..
I think the Hummer EUV is the real deal Hummer. Why not do a Hummer EV Ambulance akin to the Hummer H2 Ambulance used by Ratchet in the Transformers films?
Love the looks. But geez thats a lot of mass moving down the street wit supercar speed.
Thank you for this video, found this very helpful.
10,000 pound electric truck is beyond stupid!
Seems like a vicious circle
Jelly?
Seems like a typo that made it through editing. It doesn't have 11,500 Ft Lbs.
There needs to be a 60 to 0 breaking limit for these vehicles cover certain weight like less than 115 feet or something
This rig is big for most trails.
I'd like to have the thousand horsepower truck version, I really like that vehicle, they need to make a thousand horsepower SUV version as well and they should make a Special version that has titanium rims, carbon fiber hood and trunk and fenders and carbon fiber seats
"Pollution free."
With respect 🙏to John Davis! That thing is a waste of electrons! And expensive!
This thing is oddly cool
May as well upgrade to John Deere
GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate XL, petrol + Hummer H3, petrol = GMC Hummer electric
There is no onboard generator. It does not generate power.
i see cybertrucks owned by
Should GMC consider AT4X and or Denali versions of the Hummer EUV and EUT pickup? What about a hybrid variant of the Hummer SUV that could rival the Toyota Land Cruiser 250/Lexus GX550?
I’ll take this over cybertruck
About time they put back the all time greatest for motorsweek.i love they my uncle presents any car .I truly miss him on motorcycle. NO ONE CAN DO IT THE WAY MY UNCLE CAN DO IT .I can't cantbget enough ,😂go head unk
Price is way to high.
1.6 miles per kwh is very bad. My Outlander PHEV averages 2.7 and can get up to 3. I was hoping this would be more like 2.5 miles per kwh
pollution free 😂 you kidding. the lcd display is horrible
this or the Cyber Truck (aka Door Wedge) ?
1 up front 2 in the rear? He's still talking about the Hummer?
Why does every new truck/SUV from GM have such excessive squat? Tahoes, Yukons, this monster. Looks so dumb when they accelerate.
Weight transfer aids rear wheel traction like in drag racing.
@@rlhmarines not just these 0-60s ot 1/4 mile runs. They just always seem to be squatting under any type of acceleration. Not a fan of, maybe its just me
11500 lbs...or 1150 lbs
What happens when this ugly monstrosity runs into you and your kids at 60 miles an hour in 4 seconds.
Absurd, waste of engineering.
Families need cars they can afford not ego boosters
It's too heavy, too expensive and too over-the-top.
Yet another bomb 😂😭😒
Im not buying it because it's an EV, I could care less. I can have super car speed and plug it in my wall at home.
Its neat. Looks good. Technically awesome, but much like the original its kinda stupid and useless. This is a pissing contest in the redonkulous excess department. and GM reliability. has not been great with the pick up version. Its cool as faq, but why? A buddy has one. (he had an F150 hybrid, the an EV6 GT now the Hummer). We leased a 2024 Genesis G80 Electrified to see howd we like to live with BEV.. But as cool as this is... I just dont get it. Its like the jacked up pick ups around here that have never even seen a gravel road let alone off road,
Far out.
Hummer? Excellent. In EV format? Bogus.
New contender for “most embarrassing vehicle on the road.”
Agree
Not really
I’ll give that to the cybertruck
I love John, However he is Wrong at 1.14. This Turd is not ever close to being pollution Free
Rivian is cheaper and a better fit for our lives, plus much more range.
Rivian may fit your lifestyle but we are all not going to like the same things so that means it’s just your preference but I’ll take the Hummer EUV thank you.
Rather get a Range Rover Sport.
E-waste. Unethical e-waste.
😅we the people are going to have to bail out GM aaaagggggain in the near future 🎉
This will fail 100% guarentee
Love it
Please test Toyota 4runner 2009 v6
