Joe, there are lots of Canadian adventure UA-camrs that don't have nearly the Sub base that you do. What's the difference? You! You are still you. You haven't lost what makes you a great UA-camr. You will figure out how to work with your new normal, and we will be here watching.

Good to see you and good to see a vid drop, hope you are doing ok and hope to see new video of YOU gripping a paddle here shortly. No pressure, everybody wants the best for you. I think everyone has grief I know I do, the many loved ones and family whom have gone before us...the little things that trigger it, ( like me in Walmart an hour ago bawling from a song on the Walmart loudspeaker. U Kno you're old when u hear your music there 😂...) but anyway, the one thing I believe is that the life force in us, the energy goes on. The spirit goes somewhere...so I really believe we will all meet again in another place. What it is, I dunno...but energy I don't think it dies. It goes on, we go on. You are not alone. Keep on strokin brother, everyone is pulling for you praying for you. Lots of love to you and the family. ❤

Shingles is a weird one. It’s not something you catch, it’s your childhood chickenpox which has bee hiding out in your nerve cells dormant for most of your life. Stress weakens your immune system so up it pops. And cause it’s bursting nerves cells to do so, it hurts like the blazes.
Can’t imagine how it must have felt with bugs bites, yikes!
Also good to see ya Joe!

Shingles affects one side of your body. If started at the belly button, it will wrap around your body to the middle of your back. For me, the pain was bad, really bad. Laid naked in bed, no top sheet, no covers. No ceiling fan, no drafts from a/c , even people walking causèd air movement. The only worst pain was breaking my neck at the base of my brain at C-1. I feel your pain.

Shingles is the 'dormant' version of chicken pox. Stress suppresses your immune system, and that gives a door way for the dormant virus to 'erupt.'

We understand that this is your job and you don't have to BE JAILLED into a box and by that I mean you brain telling you we need canoeing, long ass trips, etc.. Just take the camera and vlog start small simple easy projects with the kids, go outside the box man we love you and we'll be there to support. Do ads, merch and promote stuff we'll buy it we love you. Your brother passing is not your fault, in the big spectrum of things you are not responsible and you have to more UP look up and move forward and please no self sabotage and self harm that is linked to accidents and feeling guilty and responsible let it go. I WOULD look for an AYAHUASCA center in peru a little 2-3 days TRIP come back healed and a brand new man fresh start to continue to build life with your absolute unit of a loving beaity wife and precious kids take the time answer the call let go just let go try ayahuasca it will get you back 100/100 and let's continue :) A++

i hope you’re alright and healing well man, haven’t watched any bush crafting vids for over 2-3 years but i saw the accident and the breakdown and again i hope you’re doing better, i was just in a pretty serious accident about a year and a month ago and had gotten a collapsed lung with broken ribs and a severe concussion.
Edit: i it’s actually been about 5 and a half years since i’ve watched a video, man, it’s crazy how time flies.

Dude sorry to hear about your brother. Stress brought the chicken pox back as shingles. My 22 year old had a stroke in April and almost died. Needless to say my paddling this year has been cut short ; my life is upside down. God giving we expect a full recovery (though he is paralyzed on the left side). Canoe videos keep me sane. I usually spend 100 hours every year in my canoe and this year I have only logged 4. Hope the shingles passes soon. Time in the canoe has always been the best medicine for my mind. Thanks for sharing your experience and giving my mind a break. Take care...

I am so sorry to hear about your brother's passing and that you are dealing with shingles. I lost my older brother in the beginning of this year and I have had shingles 4 times now, I feel your pain. You can get shingles if you have had chicken pox before, the virus lies dormant in nerve endings and can reactivate when your immune system is lowered, in your case stress . Any person who has not had chicken pox should not touch the areas because it can cause chicken pox (varicella-zoster virus) and to be careful with towels and linens, etc. Shingles close to the eyes is extrememly concerning because it can affect the eye and potentially cause blindess. Please take care of yourself. Thinking of you and your family during this grief.

Joe. I lost my best friend and brother on June 30th. Lost his battle with PTSD. You can only do so much. Just know that you did everything that you could. Sometimes they decision is already made and there is nothing that you can do except for knowing you did everything that you could. Glad to see another video and hope for a speedy recovery. I miss the adventures.

Your survival tips are so important. I wish you could still do an overnighter or weekend trip with a buddy close by maybe to show how to survive with an injury. So many instances were people find themselves abandoned in situations from crashes or going off course due to inclement weather. People become permanently or temporarily disabled and truly miss the outdoors because they don't know how to do things anything more.

I got Shingles randomly in Mid 2020. I was 25. Doc told me it was weird that I would have it, considering I am young, and she said that more than likely something tanked my immune system so bad that Shingles came to the surface. Never had the CoCo though.
When I first got the Shingles, I thought it was a bug bite. My entire left arm felt like it was being torn apart every single day. I then thought I must've dislocated my shoulder or something.
Nope. Just a bit of nerve damage.

Hey dude, I hope this comment finds you well, I think being someone who has survived the on going gauntlet that is life overcoming both mental and physical struggles. Your channel has inspired me to test my own grit when I go camping and really get out there. I think your wealth of knowledge and wisdom would make a great book. Or your adventures inspire you to create your own stories. If you’re ever having a rough one and you want to truly relive adventuring you should write. It’s a great time to start as you mend your body back together. ❤️ from Michigan.
