Every episode makes me more happy they’ve created the character Luthen.
he's like the Little Finger of Star Wars
Now I need to see a Normies sketch recreating the Saw scene, but with Marketta playing paranoid Saw:
"Who is it? Who is it?"
LESSGO Stellan Skarsgård! Sweden yay!
@@theawesomeman9821 I feel like he's like how Varys is in the books. Cold hearted but with a right goal.
Does he have a light saber cuz he's a jedi or an antiques dealer?
The ingenious thing about the tractor beam countermeasures is that you don't actually even really need to shoot the little bits, just release them, because the tractor beam will pull them in by itself, much too fast due to their smaller mass.
Also the scene with Bee was like what if the family dog could talk.
Ya, not sure why he needed to charge it... perhaps it was just to load all those tubes, though don't see why they aren't just always loaded.?
I suspect that there was some sort of propellant involved to get each salvo clear of the launcher before the next reload- also that would explain the amount of time the system spent charging before Luthen could take action
We need the empire to overreact. We use their weapons against them.
The Empire turned shrapnel into weapons and destroyed themselves.
@@cedric13 There's probably still a bit of shooting involved, as well as calculations on exit velocity based on how hard the tractor beam is pulling. But after that the beam does most of the work of fucking itself up.
@@cedric13 maybe it was the beam that was charging
Two things. First, I know and accept that Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Raely and Andy Serkis as Kino Loy are nailed it with their characters and dialogue, but also Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma is doing a fantastic job of giving a fuller, deeper and tougher background to the involvement and bonding of their character with the rebels, in the future. And second, the interaction between Luthen and Saw in this episode was wild and crazy.
Genevieve O’Reilly this episode was heartbreaking. She sees her daughter going down a path she does not approve of, i.e. embracing antiquated customs, and possibly having to marry her to the son of an empire opportunist.
@@L96A2 Not really an empire opportunist, but def an evil crime lord with no scruples
Whats the Empire lady called? She is amazing as well
You are absolutely right, her name is Denise Gough and her character is Dedra Meero, she is amazing !@@Aemond2024
My man Luthen strutting his space Lamborghini Reventon with countermeasures hidden under it's active rear wing and active air intakes.
Is that car really rugged enough to be able to handle stuff like this?
@@charlie7mason I think the Imperial Officers thought the same about the Fondor. haha
Diego tells us Cassian's deepest thoughts with no words. I am just loving his acting in this show.
That space battle scene with Luthan felt like the closest star wars has come to recapturing the visual space magic of the Empire Strikes Back. The special effects are spectacular and feels very cinematic like the OT episodic films.
Rogue One did an incredible job too!
@@UnfaithfulServant97 Is it a TIE Bomber or TIE Boarding Craft?
@@jasonsacchi pretty sure it's a boarding craft, thought it was a bomber when I watched the episode but they look the same lol
@@seanmoran9383 Thanks for noticing, Sean. I’ll look at the source before Thanksgiving.
@@jasonsacchi only 2 times I can think of seeing an imperial boarding craft was the episode of rebels when they intercepted an imperial hanger ship, and this old (probably not canon) cross section book of one boarding the tantive IV in a new hope
Week after week this show just blows me away. The characters, the performances, the intrigue, the relentless tension, the effects -- and every time the action pops off, it feels so fresh and inventive. Honestly, this is my favorite show of the year, and it's not even particularly close.
I agree completely. This show, in every aspect, is incredible. The sets, the special effects, the writing and acting, the story, the characters and more. Fantastic!
When a droid makes you tear up, that’s great writing
The other escaped prisoner Andor is with, Melshi, he's one of the commandos that died in Rogue One.
I think they know with their comment about "see you on the beach..."
Honestly, when they explained the brick custom? All I could think about was the first brick thrown at a riot, the first punch at Stonewall, of the kickoff of revolution.
Btw, I don't know if u guys caught this or not but, you can see Nemik's manifesto on the strongbox that Cassian opens on Niamos. And as he opens it, the audiobook continues to roll indicating that he has been reading/listening to it. And the Aurebesh text on it says "Control is so desperate because it’s so unnatural", which corresponds to Cassian's line last episode "Power doesn't panic", again indicating that he's been reading it. So cool.
I did too
I noticed it was his manifesto but none of those cool little details. Thanks for pointing it out!
The writing and atention to detail in this series is just in-sane.
He hasnt been reading it. You guys are obssesing too much about a silly detail. The manifesto means very littlr and tht's the point: some people.think too much and do so little

The idea of the Ferrix tradition of "bricking" the dead, is that those who pass on, always remain to help support those who yet live. It's their way of looking to the future while honoring the past.
It's their way of telling one another, "Even when I'm gone, I'll always be here for you. My strength will forever be your foundation. Build it wisely."
I'm going to lose it if B2EMO has Maarva's last words for Cassian recorded
Oh no I'm not ready for that
If the ISB get hold of B2 I'm done.
she's not dead
@@musicmashup9597 we don't know that, honestly I believe she is, we even saw her health failing
@@musicmashup9597 she is dead. They literally pulled her body out onto a stretcher
Mothma’s daughter: it’s like when a young girl goes full born again Christian to spite her progressive mom who thought moving to NYC would mean leaving all of that behind.
Loved the two Newfoundland aliens.
Dontchaknow eh?
I was thinking ... "Deep Ones"
This is the episode that got me all the feels. I feel for Mon Mothma, for Bix, for Bee, for Luthen and the weight of the rebellion he's carrying, Melshi's resolve and probably survivor's guilt, and Cassian's loss. My god.
The commentary after Luthen bailed was great.
Totally agree that it's a working class show. There is great care taken to show the plight of the working class. Just another "holy shit I never thought Disney would do this" part of Andor.
“They don’t care enough to listen”
"We can use the practice" backfired on him! >_
Turns out, they weren't even prepared for 'practice'.
Tony Gilroy is an Oscar nominated director and writer. He made Michael Clayton, the movie that got Tilda Swinton her first Oscar. He is the most capable director and writer to ever helm a Star Wars product. And yes, he should do all Star Wars from now on.
Michael Clayton!!!!! Omg say no more!! I didn't know that was Tony! Holy shit, I understand fully now the caliber of talent we're dealing with!!
Gilroy hates the Force, Jedi and Sith, so no.
Droids gain sentience over time, all droids are essentially AI that gain personality. They require constant mindwipes to remain regular robots.
I want to know more about Luthens backstory. He’s so interesting.
episode 12 is just B2EMO saying "M-m-m-maarva..." for over an hour
Depression.exe has finished updating
That last scene of Andor looking at the horizon is a mirror of him on the shore at the end of Rogue One before his death.
The call he makes from the beach saying Maarva would be proud of him...he tells Jyn her father would be proud on the beach in their last moments as well. Excellent way to recall things.
In the game SWTOR I remember someone is researching droids and the effects of never wiping their memory banks. The researcher believed she'd found proof that the more a droid goes without a memory reset they become more aware of themselves and sentient. I took it as confirmation, seeing that it applied to R2, BB8, K2, L3 and so many others (and my favorite that you are yet to be introduced to: Chopper.)
It’s nice to see what the Rebels and the Empire are really like. In the original trilogy wasn’t really about the war. The galactic civil war was the backdrop. It’s like Saving Private Ryan. Saving Private Ryan is about saving private Ryan, not WW2. WW2 is the backdrop.
I need Star Wars to release the full manifesto in audiobook format. I’d buy it and listen to it on repeat.
have you heard of these guys called marx and engels
@@sertia8830 the communist manifesto is not a serious document, it is a propagandistic essay meant to radicalize you; Das Kapital is the one to read if you want to understand the ideas and also get the nuances
Yeah, there's real life versions that exist. But I too would be very interested
@@sertia8830 Ah, the inspirations of a whole slew of REAL LIFE evil empires.

I LOVE THIS SHOW
I thought Boba Fett's ship was capable. The Fondor is a BEAST
This show is more about tension than action.
So glad we get more Saw G! He’s been in this thing deep cover…the whole time! Love his energy and gumption! Raw! Saw! 🖤🪶👑
Luthen has a badass ship that was dope and I love how the cockpit is like the Millennium Falcon’s
a lot more than the cockpit is like the Millennium Falcon
It's a hotel room, not an apartment.
I assume Cas already gave him some of the credits, I would have done that right away. It was his speech later that made him realize the blaster might be needed, too, I feel like.
The ship is a Cantwell class Arrestor ship. It was part of the pre production art for A New Hope but fully made for Solo
That laste scene was pure chef kiss 😘 how is this show not beings talked about more. It’s def My favorite star wars sshow with the exception of mandalorian.
Sorry for all the typos I’m really stoned and way too lazy to fix them.
If Han Solo's "Millennium Falcon" is a hot-rod space van, then Luthen's "Fondor" is a flying James Bond car.
Syril has these Norman Bates vibes to him. I could totally see him keeping his mom's skeleton, and addressing her as if she was alive
Luthen is more badass than some Jedis. The man does the dirt and don’t care about what others think. His ship is a dual wielding Sith Lord!!!!
Everyone shows up on Ferrix and it’s a hot mess but in the best way 😂
When you realize that Chandrila is Kylo`s home planet, suddenly Ben starting out even crazier and more emotionally unstable than Anakin when he first turned makes total sense!
Fun fact one of the TIEs Luthen shot down wasn’t a tie bomber it was a TIE boarding craft so he killed the pilot+20 stormtroopers.
This show doesn't beat Mando for me. But it's up there for sure
Andor is great but a slow burn. Mando has both the same great writing but has the star wars action we love as well.
Actually R2 hasn’t been mind whipped since episode 1 so all the way from then until episode IX. Basically we’re seeing Star Wars through his vast 50+ years of memory
Pink Floyd said it best. "All in all, you're just another brick in the wall "
Imperial credits are about 4USD so Mon is missing about $1,600,000
I think that's a hotel room.
That's what I came here to say
The Falcon was a pile of junk, tagged as highly illegal for nas'd up sublights and an extra quad cannon. Meanwhile Luthen's out here flying an assault cruiser lol
The Falcon could tank a few shots from a Star Destroyer, and it's a modified freighter, put together on smuggler's profits.
Luthen can afford to install the best components his contacts can steal.
It was only a pile of junk by the ST. In the OT it was far from it.
@@spacecadet2172 Kenneth says in the context of Han Solo story. At that time when it wasn't Han's, it was quite piece of junk.
@@spacecadet2172 It was still there kicking ass by the Battle of Exegol, alongside The Ghost.
@@shugaroony good point. I tried to block a lot of that movie out of my memory so it’s all a bit fuzzy 😅
18:57 *Micky:* _"Tony Gilroy, you should run all Star Wars property from here on..."_ 📡 While I get this was his way of appreciating the work *TG* is doing, I disagree (when taken literally, that is). We could run a risk of everything being too similar. When in actuality, the opposite mentality _gave us_ *TG* to begin with. __ 🔫
*Edit:* I do wonder if that special beam weapon on *Luthen's* ship is powered by kyber crystals. 🤔 Might explain three things - why it isn't common, why it appears to be so powerful,¹ and why it is configured as a beam. 🤷🏼♂️
··•●✺●•··
¹ ─ Although, most TIE fighters don't have shields, so it may not be quite as powerful as it looks. 🤷🏼♂️
I'm telling y'all, after HotD, this is one of the best shows right now.
17:12 "Did we just get dunked on?" 😂
lol its a hotel room lol, so you have to question what the cleaning was doing :P
that scene firing upon the tractor beam reminded me so much of The Expanse and the Rocinante firing salvo's. i also wonder if he has Kyber crystals on board and it used for the big light sabers? he could have aquired them through his business he runs.
So often 'slow burn' feels more like an excuse for 'this show has shitty writing.'
This? This is what slow burn is SUPPOSED TO BE. THIS is how it's supposed to work. It builds tension, it's not waiting around for sh* to happen.
The most poetic thing I’ve heard about this episode, is the background on the beach when Cassian has just been told Marva died (the sun set or rise, yellow horizon), is very similar to the background on Rogue one, at the beach, when Cassian dies (yellow horizon because of the fire caused by the Death Star).
The producers maybe used that similar background to poetically make us understand Cassian’s fellings a on that scene, Cassian feels like dying because he’s just been told that Marva is dead.
Don’t know if this is true, but I want to believe it is ❤
5:20 Nut Net lol
2:10 This right here, is why they should have grabbed some shoes when they had the chance.
Tony Gilroy i believe he wrote the screenplays for the original Bourne trilogy and wrote and directed the fourth film of the franchise and co-wrote Rogue One: A Star Wars Story...
i like how disney just casually created the james bond aston martin db5 of the star wars universe, and turned the insane up to 11
I think Andor left his shit in a hotel room not somebody's home.
GREAT as always!
The Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser first appeared in the Star Wars canon in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, in an Imperial recruitment film.[3] However, in the script for Solo, the Millennium Falcon was at one point to be captured by a tractor beam ship, which was developed into the Arrestor Cruiser.[11] This full appearance in the film was eventually cut,[12] but the cruiser was featured in the Onyx Squadron sequence in the film's deleted scenes.
In 2018, Leland Chee stated on Twitter that the cruiser's name is the Cantwell-class, although this wasn't confirmed by any officially licensed material[13] until Starships and Speeders, a 2020 sourcebook for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars roleplaying game system.[1]
Design origins
Colin Cantwell originally pitched the design of what would become the Imperial Arrestor Cruiser directly to George Lucas,[14] for use in the 1977 movie Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, although it was ultimately discarded in favor of a completely different design.[15] The design had been derived from World War II aircraft carriers. Originally called the Sith Carrier, the ship was to launch Sith Fighters, and the dishes on its sides were intended to be used to destroy various ships. This idea was eventually adapted for the superlaser weapon of the Death Star.[16]
The production crew for Solo discovered Cantwell's design while reviewing Lucasfilm's archives. Industrial Light & Magic then created a high-fidelity CG model of the vessel for use in the film
13:30 I just realized he's downplaying the number here. When he was talking to Lonny there were 50, now it's 30 men he's sacrificing.
“Nuts across our forehead” cracked me up 😂😂😂
Either is a TIE Bomber or TIE Boarding Craft before Thanksgiving.
Today's 'Star Wars Lesson': Don't fuck with Luthen!
I cried in this one.
ABC picked it up, episode one will be airing on 11-23 9pm EST
They didn’t pick it up; ABC is owned by Disney. But they are choosing to cross-promote it which is good
Someone pointed out that the end shot of Cassian looking out across the water is very similar to the end of Rogue One. As Cassian looked out across the water at the explosion from the Death Star, was he thinking of Maarva?
Saw and Luthen...OMG🤯
Great Reaction!
I know he isn’t part of this reaction series but I think it was nice to see that Suraj was here for this episode in spirit (banana on table😅)
My theory is that Marva isn't dead, its a ploy as they knew they were being watched. She mentions the tunnels I think she found them and is going to figure out a way to save Bix. The episode IS called Daughter of Ferrix...
did they get a substitute body from soemwhere? Also, your theory (though great) surely needs far too many people to know about it.
I thought that since we didn't even see her body, face. I hope you're right cuz it would be a shame to not see her true rebel potential.
don't worry, if things don't work out well between Lieda and Davo's son, Vel will likely make sure that Davo's son has an accident
"It's Simply Safe" lol
That's like a James Bond Car
first time i see a jedi ship xD
you didn’t watch the prequels or clone wars?
@@spacecadet2172 I meant that kind of "jedi" ship, with lightsaber
The pirate-fishermen's ship was the space equivalent of a beat-up 1986 GMC Vandura. It's not pretty- it's a metal box that coughs, belches black smoke and makes funny noises.
F*ck all that though, it'll get ya where you're going. With fuel to spare and a comfy back seat.
3:35 daaamn marketa knows her stuff
Bruh.... is he flying a Fondor Haulcraft or a Gundam Shield with 2x Beamsabres?
The Ferrix Brick tradition is dope, and kind of makes me think of a sci-fi version of those reliquary churches in Czechoslovakia that are made from the skeletal remains of monks and such. Hardcore.
Gilroy said he was done after Ssn 2 I think, but I want more Star Wars like he and his team have made. Unlike lots of other SWU content, it actually made me love the original films more. Jedi: fallen Order is the only other SW thing in recent memory that has hyped me up. I can't wait for Jedi Survivor.
Back in Mandalorian Ssn1 and most of Ssn2 I was like "Filoni and Favreau should do all Star Wars." but BoBF and Obiwan really bummed me out. Watching Ssn3/Ep1 of Mando felt so corny. Good music, cool action, but no substance.
Now I just want more Andor-like content. Production value and the internally consistent writing, constructed with reverence of the original material but not leaning so hard on nostalgia. I see people on social media who comment that they think this show is boring and or that it "isn't Star Wars" and I want to reach though my screen slap 'em. Mouthbreathers, every one of them.
That man's ship had lightsabers.
I want to hug Bee.
12:22 Saw Gerrera is piece of work who I will never forgive for getting a character I very much care about killed.
Does bro on the left even try to comb his hair? Got some wild bed head going on.
you can’t comb curly hair dude. It only makes it more frizzy
He's the cool one lol
Luthen Jedi mind tricks n combat pilot skills..he may just have been a former Jedi Padawan or pilot
which mind tricks are you referring to?
Could have been trained by one, trained along side one or was very close to one also.

Lol it actually bothered me when you guys talked over the luthen saw conversation especially the I'll call it war line... Did you register it? These reactions are great but sometimes I wod er if you get the full episode experience by trying to be chatty for the UA-cam audience
Yes we caught it. Talking comes with the territory for reactions. We do our best to comment at appropriate times but it can't be helped sometimes.
Ferrix is space Philly.
we could use the practice 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can I share your video as a reaction video on my channel? ☺
Sounds like you need to react to Hot Fuzz
I'm loving this Luthen character so much. I hope Disney creates a series for him.
I mean, they did, it's called Andor.
@@Fangtorn I meant a Solo series where his name is on the title called Luthen. This series features him but it is not about him it is about Andor.
It would have to be a younger version of him or a limited prequal of Skarsgard. Even cooler if he turns out to be a jedi.
Y’all gotta watch Star Wars Rebels before the Ahsoka series comes out!
Andor is the best star wars show under disney, as was the rough one movie.
A youtube channel called Kyle Kartan sums it up well - Obi Wan, Mando and boba are like watching comics while this show is like a live action Novel.
Kyle knows his stuff, top guy.
I thought it was 50 men plus Kriegger?
Luthen does not fill anyone's intelligence gap unnecessarily.
Why are y’all worried about Luthen as if he ain’t Him.
What? Are y'all nuts?
You think that they're not going to have Andy Serkis back?
