      The Battle of Courscant posed in it's Core really the peak of the Clone Wars. Every Hero and every Villain came to part one last time for a grand finale fight. This also reveals the genius of the moment in Palpatines office. It's the office of theman who orchestrated and instrumentalised the Clone Wars. If Anakin wouldn't have interfered with Mace Windu, all he had wished for would have come true. Dooku dead, Grievous dead, Ventress neutral, Maul captured, the Speratist Alliance leaders awaiting negotiations at Mustafar, Sidious, the last Sith Lord, about to die under the hands of Mace Windu. If he had let Windu kill Palpatine, then the Clone Wars would've been over. Anakin could have either claimed his now rightful place as Jedi Master or lreave the Jedi Order, with which's ideals he had broken up anyway, to join Padme raising their children. Ahsoka was on her way back to Coruscant too. He could've had everything he wanted. But Mace Windu treating Ahsoka badly, not granting him the rank of Master, letting him defeat Grievous and not letting him fight Palpatine resembled all the arrogance and decadence that the Jedi originally had acquired and which had them come of their paths as peace keepers. The prequels might not be everyones favourite movies, but man the Clone Wars really did put some back ground story in it. Great stories don't contain just one truth, only propaganda contains one truth, great stories have multiple deep truths and meanings simultaniously alligned waiting to be interpreted.

      @Lachlan Reade Maul was never a Sith _Lord,_ never even a Sith apprentice; just a Sith assassin like Ventress or the Inquisitors.
      It's a bit of a nuanced difference, but other than specializing in combat and not being restricted by a code of ethics, Maul was no stronger in the force than a strong Jedi Knight. He doesn't even compare to a Jedi Master, which is why he always relied on tactics like political or emotional manipulation when fighting Kenobi to outmaneuver him or weaken him and force him into a physical confrontation with a disadvantage, or simply trap him... Or Maul would just retreat.
      Some of the specific factors that disqualify or disprove Maul being a Sith Lord or an apprentice are that he was never strong enough in the Dark Side to gain any Dark Side force abilities (like Force Lightning), he never cut his ties to the bonds of life (like Anakin killing Padme or Palpatine killing his whole family), he never had any ambition to get more powerful and overthrow his master, and he was never even technically a Sith apprentice in accordance with the Rule of Two (in Episode 1, Palpatine was the apprentice and Darth Plagueis was still his master).

    One thing I loved about this series as a whole but exemplified by this scene is the subtlety of it. With just a few lines like, "This is the last one," and, "Goodbye, Ahsoka Tano," you get the impression that, at least for these characters, they see a better future on the horizon. The traditional hostilities between the Mandalorians and the Jedi and maybe by extension, the Republic, are over and a new era of peace can begin. Using the last of those Hanibal Lecter cages to transport Maul shows how Bo-Katan sees a brighter future for what are now her people. Ahsoka and Rex leave Mandalore under the best of circumstances given the situation and yet we as the audience still feel that overwhelming sense of dread at what's to come. This is how you do a prequel right, by using the audience's knowledge of future events against them.

    “This is the last one”
    I like how much trust Bo Karan has for Ashoka and the kind of the Republic. Not only did she lock up Maul in that device, but she also gave them the last one as a show of good faith, a signal that says “these are no longer necessary, and to prove it, we want you to have it”.
    Imagine if the Republic had survived and Mandalore was a willing part of it.

The OST during Rex's sweep of the ship is the Temple March, where Anakin is leading the other half of the 501st. The music score and this entire scene is AMAZING. I don't know why it wasn't officially released on the S7 soundtrack but whatever. Excuse me while I rant about how great this scene is. The music is earry and foreshadows the tragedy of order 66 that is about to come. We all knew about order 66, but during the 2 action packed episodes before this it just seemed like a quiet ticking clock in the distance. The past 2 episodes have been so engaging and we are caught up in all of it's great moments, but in this scene it's slow and lets your mind wander for a bit. While you get a chance to think, you remember order 66 and the score makes this all feel tragic, even though the siege of mandalore was successful. It give the viewer a chance to remember that this story doesn't have a happy ending. This scene and music shifts the tone and mood. The wait for Order 66 is no longer a quiet ticking clock in the distance, it's a countdown of a tragedy that will inevitably happen.

    Love this music, the music is so dark, gloomy and suspenseful. For those who have seen the SW films, we know what’s about to happen and where this scene fits in with the ROTS timeline. The music adds to that known suspense.
    And then for those who have not seen the films nor know what’s about to happen, the music adds a sense of insecurity which is unusual for a moment like this, they’ve captured maul, the city is safe, and they’re returning home with the war nearing. They would be wondering why the suspense, what’s about to happen, why the dark mood after a victory.
    I love how the directors have pulled this episode off.

    Every time I see this scene I think about the conversations Sabine might have had with Rex or Ahsoka about them knowing her mum, Ursa.
    I mean seriously, you can’t tell me that they didn’t just ignore the fact that one of the people they fought beside’s child was right under their nose. Since Sabine was reluctant to talk about her family to anyone else she might have been more willing with those who knew Ursa.
    Then I get mental images of a baby Sabine sitting on Ahsoka’s lap!!!

    • @kevinzhang6623
      @kevinzhang6623 Рік тому

      Sabine most definitely knew of Ahsoka long before even meeting her("Wait isn't that the girl mom told me about that decapitated 4 warriors at once then defeated Maul and liberated Mandalore a bit later?), and Rex likes to keep things close to the chest... Ahsoka kept her distance and they probably didn't share much. I always wonder what would've happened if Ahsoka showed up with Sabine, Kanan and Ezra. Could've lightened the mood and improved relations, or they could've been scared shitless due to her defeating Maul and leading the Siege, or honor bound to not betray her out of the good she did for Mandalorians, or made things more tense due to the power of her reputation or warrior skill. Most certainly, Sabine told her family about Ahsoka. Have never seen Sabine, Zeb and Hera in such a state of utter submission and silence when Maul captured them but if there's anyone that could do it... also how Sabine is noticeably much more cautious being held hostage by Maul and not showing lip even in the most minor way unlike Zeb and Hera who were defiant, knowing all the stories told about him.

    You take the same scene, put it at the end of the previous episode with some upbeat clone wars music to play the scene out into the credits and boom, you have just another story in the clone wars.
