Good vid. My first car was a 65 Impala. I drove it after I graduated in 1977. I put a 327/300 in it with a turbo 350 transmission it was a rusty black I changed red interior to black. Lots of fun at the drive in! I saw one 65 with a 409 and a 4 speed in the town I lived in. What old memories!

True, the 327 was special. I had a roommate that had a '64 SS 327. Mildly built, cam etc. It was a Power Glide and I remember riding with him and that 327 humming to about 90 in first gear. Bent the pushrods a broke a couple of valve springs but I have never heard an engine so nice screaming along. Still ran ok for a little while. Amazing engine.

Bought my 65 super sport sieara tan with a black vinel top in 1965 with a 327 v8 power glide 2speed for 3,030 dollars . Put some short lake pipes coming out the front wheel wells.and took the center back up light and put a regular all red light so I had 3 lights on each side. It looks real cool with six red lights lit up when on or hitting the brakes. Sold it after putting 168,000 miles on it , It was still running great when I sold it. I sure miss that car, used to cruse the Bronx N.Y.Great times, Rock On.

In 65 I bought a brand new impala. It was either a 327/300 or a 350/300. It had bucket seats and a 4 speed. It looked very much like yours with the exception that mine was a deep baby blue color. It was a beauty. I sold it to my brother in late 65 as I was going to Vietnam. I really enjoy looking at your 65. A great color it is.

Mom had an Evening Orchid SS with white interior, a 283 auto. We didn't have much money and it was the daily driver in southern Wisconsin until sold sometime around 75. It's the first car I remember and would give anything now to have gotten her to treat it better and keep it.

Just wanted to tell you the 65 impala ss has Super sport script on front fender

    That spell Impala
( Not CHEVROLET) As you stated towards the beginning of your 65 SS description

Great info, as I just got a 65 Impala SS that's been parked since 1977 in Olympia WA. It's been gutted all except for the body. There's no running gear, no interior except for the steering wheel and the old back seat that is basically a steel shell at the moment. Now, I have to figure how to pay for this project! I'm pretty sure it will be a fun and frustrating process. I have a friends that restore old C10 pickups and early to mid 70s Firebirds and they're all green with envy. So I know this is going to be a lot of learning on my part. Hell, I grew up in almost every year of Impala from the 60s and 70s and have a good idea of how I want to put her all together! Any info you might want to share with me would be greatly appreciated! I'll have my hands full once I get going on this car! Great Video, and I'll be registered at the conclusion of this message! Peace!

You get a column shift SS
They actually made a SS console that had a plate in there where the shifter was
,they put a little door with a Ash tray there in the console
They used the auto console in column shift whether it was a 3on the tree or the automatic
I happen to have one of these rare consoles ive seen a few for sale but not many perhaps 3 in my life
Ive owned approximately 20 65 impalas about 1/2 were SS
The others regular Impala and also had a biscayne and perhaps a Delray but i can't recall 100% as ive owned several hundred cars over a 40 year period
I think the 65 console is my favorite
I have 3 or so 4 speed ones 2 or 3 automatic and that odd shifter deleted one
Thanks for sharing your lovely car
    Best regards

Hey. I've got a 65 with vin tag number 166375L.....riveted with the 6 edged rivets that it's supposed to, but it got all the "base" options. Except the brushed aluminum look on the bottom dash. Cowl tag is gone so i cant see how it was born. It seems a bit weird that GM would build an SS with less bling/mouldings, and proberbly charge more for it? If possible could you put down a link to where i can read more about the 65 in regards to options etc. Ps.You got a mean maschine :-) and keep up the good work.

Hi Nick. Well as an Englishman l found this very educational . I really love both era's of the Impala . Is the first generation a "bubble top "? And l guess that the 409 was so legendary that the "Beach boys" made a record ! But for me your Impala is such a elegant design and the epitome of American car manufacturing. I guess you have the original seats packed safely away . Well l now know that l'm not talking to your twin brother having seen your last video !😂😂😂 Thanks Nick ?! or is it ??Evan .....😂😂

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  3 роки тому +1

Thanks John!!! We appreciate the support! The bubble top was a specific roof design used on 61 and 62 impala’s. In fact, you could get a 62 2 door with either a bubble top, or the non-bubble top.

    • @montymatilda
      @montymatilda 2 роки тому

@@ClassicNation Only the BelAir could get the bubbletop in '62. All Impalas got the new roof design. '59 '60 and '61 Impala 2 door hardtops were bubbletops. I think the '61 Impala 2 door hardtop is one of the finest automobile designs ever.

My dad had a white/beige 327 ss 4spd. He went to the army and left it with friend. It was stripped over time and i don't know what he ended up doing with it. I wanted it so bad but I was just a kid.
Years later im with a friend he has to stop and talk to a friend. The friend had a 327 ss 4spd. I was drooling he asked me if i wanted to buy it for 500 bucks. It wasn't running the engine and transmission were in the trunk, i didn't care. I paid him right there and had it towed. It sat in my driveway and very often people would offer me thousands for it. I was going through a process with the dmv to claim an "abandoned car". One day i move it into the street to move some things out of the garage. The city towed it, I was sad.

You got somewhat close, back in 65' dad was your age, i'd say mid to late 30s, grandpa was my NOW age, late 50s early 60s,
I was a little punk, but,
    I HAVE A MEMORY,
back then, you could buy that 65 chevy with as little or as much,,, on the WHOLE CAR as you could
with the engines, i've seen super sports with six cylinders, manual brakes and no air, ordered so either because of the size of the owners wallet, or , they planned,, outright,, to build thier own from the start, I FOR EXAMPLE, had a 69 bel air, NOT 65, i am using my car that i had for an example,
this 69 bel air, a LOWER price car,
came with gold paint, a white top, deluxe trim, which consisted of brite beltline trim, and deluxe hardtop trim, which was bright trim onthe drip rails which most bel air / biscayne did not have,
Also consisted of a wider top trim around the rear quarters and trunk top.
Who ever ordered this car also ordered impala post top trim,
Which covered the posts on the doors and put chrome door edge trim on the car, then also, this person opted for impala type hubcaps with plain chevrolet center inserts,
Instead of the base 307 in a bel air, or the 200 horse 327,
this person ordered the 300 horse 350.
AND instead of low dollar naugahyde interior, it was all bel air as far as stitch pattern on the seats, which instead, were caprice brocade, so, gold and white with a black top, full wheel covers deluxe trim power steering brakes air tilt steering 300 horse 350 and all on a bel air, bought with original papers 14 years old from original owner
And all this on a four door post top car,
Back then you COULD order WHAT you wanted, any WAY you wanted, not like now, where you get a SAPPY smile, and "that is part of blah blah package, and you can only get this package on that car, so thats what we offer,, and,, like it,
That is how you make this car of yours sound, and since i see by looking at your site further, Your car doesent have its original equipped engine, those didnt have l,s, motors in them
So why not try to find the truth out before you try to sell YOUR VERSION OF THE TRUTH TO AN OLD GUY WHO WAS THERE
