    Saved me a lot of money, some seadoo mechanic was charging me $700 to do this for me. Luckily I seen how simple it was to do myself so I rung him and canceled. Thank you

    If you'll pull the filter before you start extracting the oil, more will drain into the crankcase so you'll be able to pull more out at once.

    Guys, watch the procedure but don't follow the fill directions. Read the owner's manual. You need to warm that motor up...not just 10 seconds. Then you let it sit for 30 seconds and check the oil. Over-filling these skis is well documented for sending out oil alarms. Just fill it till it is half way between the full and low kinks on the dipstick WHEN the ski is warm. NO MORE than 5 mintues on a garden hose but try to stick with 2 to 3 minutes tops so you don't burn out the carbon seal.

    DO NOT! I repeat DO NOT!! turn the motor over AFTER YOU’VE DRAINED THE OIL! Yes you will get more oil out but your draining all the oil valleys/oil pump/bearings then turning it over is a great way of wearing out up your main/rod bearings because when you start it with oil all of the passages will be dry. Before they start these motors from the factory they prime the oil system which is why the bearings don’t get torn up on initial start up

    Stupid question, how come the ski doesnt start when you have the key in with full throttle? Doing my GTIs now and just wondering.

    • @SKLIFEstyle
      @SKLIFEstyle  4 роки тому

      Probably a safety mechanism so you dont launch yourself while offloading or docking and hurt yourself. My best guess, never realized that was the case...but don't think I've tried it either. **SK**

    • @michaelc2119
      @michaelc2119 4 роки тому +1

      @@SKLIFEstyle Keeping the throttle wide open while starting puts it into "flood mode" which stops the injectors from spraying fuel. If your ski won't start after cranking it too many times, the engine will be too rich (too much gas not enough air) and won't be able to start, aka "flooded". You put it in flood mode, pull the spark plugs and it will clear out. Same thing for compression checks, flood mode prevents gas from spraying out of the spark plug holes while you're checking it. When you're doing this for oil changes, if you are also going to change the spark plugs, I would pull them before doing the oil change in case your hand slips then put the new ones in after. If you're almost out of oil and your engine accidentally fires up that would not be a fun afternoon.

      I would have to see a pic or video of the engine to be able to say. I haven't worked on one so idk off the top of my head. My guess is they just blended it in when with some other plastics so ypu don't even notice it. But you must have one. I have an FB page. Feel free to message me a pic/vid of the engine bay. Short of that I would just look at the manual, or call the dealer.**SK**

    Just bought the new 2p121 SEADOO FISH PRO and really enjoyed your video as I am a hands on kind of guy and learning how to maintain my new rig. One question I did not get the theory about holding the throttle when you try to start the engine. U mean the hand side throttle? U gotta hold it so that the engine won’t start? Have not put it in the water as of yet just personalizing it right now but soon will put it to the test.. thank you . Please advice regarding the throttle action.
    Cheers. Sami

    • @SKLIFEstyle
      @SKLIFEstyle  3 роки тому

      Congrats on the new Doo, and thanks for watching, please Subscribe! That said, you don't have to do that part with the throttle if you don't want to, there will always be some oil left in the machine regardless. But if you want to get more oil to the bottom to drain, you hold thr start but while holding the hand lever on the right (throttle), just for a few seconds, it kicks over the engine without allowing it to fully start and the oil will drop down to the bottom of the case. If the engine started there wouldn't be a lot of oil in there (from previous pumping) for it to be running (not good) and also what was in there would rise up higher in the motor and still be unable to get caught. But once or twice, basically turning it over, won't hurt.**SK**

    How do you get rid of the oil?

    • @SKLIFEstyle
      @SKLIFEstyle  4 роки тому

      I typically just drop it off at a local auto shop. Many mom & pop shops put the used motor oil in shop heaters which can burn all types of oils. But either way they dispose of so much of it it's easy for them to take it. Can check at your local dump if they have a special place to take it...but I find the shop around the corner is much easier. Thanks for watch Panda. Please SUBSCRIBE! **SK**

    Just got my sea doo last summer. We rode it pretty good and it's been sitting all winter. Am I in bad shape for not having it "winterized"?

    • @SKLIFEstyle
      @SKLIFEstyle  5 років тому +4

      If it is brand new I think she will survive but I would run all her gas out...run some fresh stuff in her asap...charge up the battery before you go out. And perhaps find something from autoz9ne you can throw in the 4stroke to help clean up the valves and engine to keep the engine clean. And next winter DO winterize her...you want her reliable out on the water and running for a long time. Thanks for watching, please SUBSCRIBE! I have tons of ski videos and more coming soon. **SK**
