Some tips for next time. You want to run engine to warm oil first. It also helps get any debris in suspension so it can be sucked out in oil instead of settles on bottom. Of course on Seadoo don’t run engine more than a minute so as to not hurt the carbon seal. When you insert the tube in dipstick hole go slow and when it touches bottom just lift a hairs width back up and that is best spot. Like you said if you push farther the hose loops back up instead of touching bottom. I also try to have my trailer tilted just a little back but not to much. Then suck out all you can and then remove tube completely and then hold throttle wide open and crank for 5 seconds. This pumps oil from filter etc back to crankcase. Pull tube out first so the crank doesn’t twist it up and that is BAD if that happens. Then after a few mins suck out rest of oil from bottom. Then remove oil filter and I suck out any oil in there also. You really don’t need the grease on that bolt because it’s in oil it’s whole life so no chance of corrosion. And for anyone doing this the first time it is normal to see a gap between the oil filter cap and body and see the edge of the top o ring. This gets asked a lot and people think it’s not in all the way but it is. That’s why there are two o rings. And like you showed add the same amount of oil that you sucked out then check the oil after running for a minute and you want the level in that dip marks on dipstick. It is normal to run it in the middle of those marks. Supposedly if it’s right at top it’s not as good as near the middle. Definitely don’t go over that top mark. I personally try to have it right above the half way point. Hope these tips help out anyone who wants to do their own maintenance. It really isn’t that hard and can save you those dealership charges. The socket needed for the oil filter is called an E-10 Torx.
when you say "crank for 5 seconds" after sucking most of oil out. Do you mean run the engine? or is there a way to crank it a few times without starting? That step seems scary to me, I don't want to kill the engine by running it dry or something. Thanks!
@@seanmikkelsen7795 hold the throttle wide open and crank engine. When holding throttle open it will not start. Let me add holding the throttle wide open on 4 stroke engines will not let engine start. On the old 2 strokes they could still start but then one wouldn’t be doing an oil change on them. Just hold throttle wide open and crank a few seconds.
@@GBsPitstop perfect, thanks! Do you happen to know also how to reset maintenance clock? I've got 2022 GTX Limited with the 7 inch lcd screen. I get a maintenance required message when I start it. Just need to reset that after oil change I assume. Thanks again!
Great job Gladys! I have the same ski, and use the exact same pump. Pro tip: when you take off the cover underneath the seat, pull the linq system mounts out before you take the cover off, that way the mounts will go with the cover and you don't have to worry about losing them.
Thank you Gladys. I got a new GTI and im learning how to do the maintenance. I usually use the family ski and leave it to my dad to handle everything .
Awesome video, thanks for doing this. I'm waiting on my 2022 Wake 170 which is the exact same engine as your GTI so after seeing this I'll be doing the oil changes myself.
Loved the video.. both of you were great. Man.. I'm surprised the oil was so dark. Just did my 50 hr oil change on the yamaha also. Was easier than i expected 👍
If you could tell me was there a gap in the oil filter housing when you went to reinstall it up underneath the top part I guess it doesn’t seat all the way down for some reason… I noticed that on my JetSki when I tried to reinstall a new oil filter as well I’m just trying to get some insight on it I have a GTISE 170 also
Some people change the spark plugs on the first oil change. I see that you did not. I have heard either way works well. Thoughts? I’m coming up on my first oil change on my brand new 2023, GTX -230.
Getting hosed on the oil . I use a full synthetic auto oil , and have close to 550 hrs. on my ski. Oil is $21 for 4 quarts, and $17 for the filter. That kit is just semi synthetic oil. With a supercharger, you can only run the crap oil because of it's clutch washers.
hahaha I feel ya on having to say sea-d...sea...yamaha. haha. Next couple years we are going to replace our 98 xl760's with a VX limited and an FX HO. Great video you guys. Love keeping up with you, hope your doing good man.
Did not change mine first 10 hrs just did my oil. Spark plugs will do after season ends. I did do my oil change after riding since oil was warm. I spent a lot of time getting every drip of oil out on first oil change
If you follow the Sea Doo procedure exactly you can get 4 quarts of old oil out. This engine holds 5.3 quarts total so when you only change 2.5 quarts you’re leaving over half the old oil in you engine.
Very informative video! Couple of suggestions for next time; warm up the engine before extraction, lubricate the O-rings with fresh oil. Also, edit your videos to 15 minutes or less. Thanks guys!

That's great seeing you teach your wife how to change the oil. My wife doesn't even know what a screwdriver looks like. LOL!

“STOP MOLESTING IT”!!! 2sec later
“PUT IT IN”😂😂😂 you guys are awesome
Great video
🤣🤣🤣
Great job wifey! The perfect garage 1 yamaha and 1 seadoo 🔥🔥🔥
Love that you call her your bumble bee. I have the orange crush color and call her my pumpkin. Amazon has the kit a lot less.
Great video and great job! Video started getting a little
fresh there for a moment 😂
🤣
Gladys you go girl Awesome job on the oil change but you have a good teacher. 👏👏👏👏👏
Gladys, good job! Thanks yall. Got a new one and so different from working on my 2 stoke
You could have used your pump..just use a reducer plug (they usually come with the pump) for the smaller diameter hose👍
Awesome video, thanks for doing this. I'm waiting on my 2022 Wake 170 which is the exact same engine as your GTI so after seeing this I'll be doing the oil changes myself.
Do a video with your Yamaha how to change oil and spark plug
Gladys you did a great job. One question only what was the brand of spray you guys used to lubricate towards the end?
Good job Gladys! 🤙

How much oil did you get out i did mine and only got just over 2.5 qrts
She did good. God bless her
Good for her learning how to do an oil change on her ski.

phenomonal video! bout to do my fish pro!
Amazon sells a 3 pack of the ngk spark plugs for the sea Doo for $12 last time I purchased them from advanced auto for under $5 each last year.

not sure who is selling spark plugs for $12 each, because I buy BCPR8E plugs at O'Reillys for $4 each
Great job. Thank you!
You don't need grease on the oil filter bolt threads. In saltwater areas, it is recommended to coat the mating surface of the cover with grease.
why didn’t you show the engine lubrication spray part?

Very first oil change after “break in” should you change spark plugs too? Or is that on the second oil change?
I have a 2023 GTX-230
They say to change the spark plugs the first 10 hours with you’re oil change
You guys change the spark plugs? If so that would be a good video to see how you guys did it. I have the same ski thanks for the vid
Did not change mine first 10 hrs just did my oil. Spark plugs will do after season ends. I did do my oil change after riding since oil was warm. I spent a lot of time getting every drip of oil out on first oil change
Way to go Gladys she did a good job
Reinstall the oil filter cover and torque bolt to 9 N·m ± 1 N·m (80 lbf·in ± 9 lbf·in).

Where is the sea doo procedure?
@@LJRA240678 Vid is on YT
How much would y’all charge to do both of my Sea Doos?
Awesome job
can someone send link to oil filter for 2023 gti 170?
شكرا ممتع 👍
random question. Are your speakers loose? cause mine I feel like have loosened up a little bit.
Mine are.. There is a YT vid on how to fix it.... doesn't seem too complicated, although I haven't attempted yet!
Good job
torque your bolts
I have 20h on mine ...first time i seen 10hr oil change..seen all info say 50h first oil change...know im thinking 10h past ...
HOWEVER the N/A ACE motor interval is 100 hours vs Yamaha being 50.

Good job, I will never pay almost $300 for an oil change ever again.

You could just buy a different hose at the hardware store.
When I am rich, my wife can help me around the ski. :)
That rusty bit on you’re impact gun makes me cringe lol nice new Seadoo getting rusty looking bolts
Way to go Gladis you the woman Lol
For your next oil change, Watch this video from Sea Doo.
