LOL Why do we do this? I literally watch "Best beginner motorcycle" guides/reviews all the time yet I am very much not a beginner, am not in the market for a smaller bike, and already own an ""intermediate"" bike.
I lowsided this bike going pretty slow and it broke the swing arm spool/slider off so part of the bolt is still threaded inside the bike🤦🏼♂️. Bike is completely fine and I’m thinking about just installing a new set in the fwd holes.. would they still work fine a few inches forward?
Probably a dumb question but...I was wanting to buy a woodcraft stand for a ninja 250...when I started looking though, very confused on what type of lifting I will need..as in, these or swing arm or what...any help? New to bikes.
It is an 06. When I was online looking, there were sites that even after filtering by year make and model seem to have all kinds.of different woodcraft stands...I'm so confused on what I need and the best way to lift it..
Not all models are able to accept swingarm spools. In this case you would need to use a standard, pad style rear stand. Here is a link to one on our site: Pit Bull Standard Rear Motorcycle Stand www.sportbiketrackgear.com/pit-bull-standard-rear-motorcycle-stand/
You should be able to let the bike sit on the spools for as long as you like. Ours sit on the stands pretty much all of the time. Only exceptions being when they are in the trailer or being ridden. - Van
New to sport bikes.. my Honda cb650r doesn't have threaded holes for this type of spools? What do I do now?.. There is how ever a hole in the bottom of the swing arm on both sides.
I just watched my friend lift his gsxr with a pitbull stand off the spools and the whole spool and the piece of the frame where the spool sits broke off completely. Have u ever heard of that?
Yes I have seen that happen on a couple of bikes that were previously crashed. During the crash the spool made contact with the ground and damaged the weld at the swing arm. I think I have seen this 3 times in a couple of decades. - Van
Keep the videos coming! Van, I want to buy one of the gray work shirts you wear in all your videos but I don’t see them on your website. Is there a way for me purchase two of them?? Much love from Vancouver B.C.
The previous owner of my 2008 R1 had spools, dropped it on the left side and the M6 bolt from the spool is broken and effectively friction welded to the swing arm. Can I drill it out, run a helicoil and install a new spool?
I would try to extract it first. To be fair extracting broken fasteners is not the easiest of tasks. Here at the shop I have left hand drill bits and extractors to deal with shit like this. Helicoil should be the last resort but will get the job done. - Van

Some will spin and others will be fixed. Both work the same, zero difference in operation. Just depends on the spacing between the insert and the outer spool. - Van
I hope you’re joking!?!? Why are you comparing a stand accessory with a product designed for crash protection, and asking which one offers better protection? Do you think a motorcycle helmet would offer better protection than an ice cream container stuck on your head?
Yes, there are now certain swingarm designs that will require a spacer or step built into the spool to get the proper clearance needed. Several years back all that really mattered was the size of the hole threaded into the swingarm, that is no longer the case. - Brian Van
Thanks, I know my bike isn't in the majority, and because of that I can "fall" for some "pictured" that won't or I'm not happy with. It can create returns. I have a 05' Suzuki SV650
Kelly Judd strange that a modern bike wouldn't be ready to accept spools. Have you looked into the ones that mount onto the axle or the ones that mount above and below the swingarm?
Why Honda would produce that bike with no boss for a spool in the swingarm is beyond me. To lift that bike you would need a rear stand that lifts the bike from the bottom of the swingarm using a pad design. I would suggest the Pit Bull SS Rear Stand which can be used as a pad or spooled rear stand without purchasing anything additional. This way you are covered if you purchase a new bike in the future that accepts spools in the swingarm. Below is a link to the stand from Pit Bull: Pit Bull SS Rear Stand (Standard/Spooled) www.sportbiketrackgear.com/pit-bull-ss-rear-stand-standard-spooled/ - Van

If you have an 08-12 Ninja 250 it should accept swingarm spools. Lifting the bike by the spools is the best way to go for sure. - Van

I would just leave them on the bike when you sell it. - Van

Sir, did you drill a hole on your swingarm or is it there already when you bought your bike?
The swingarm on the bike has threaded holes from the factory that allow you to install spools. They need to be there if you want to run spools. - Van
Mine has no holes but it has a round non-hollow part. Was it designed to be drilled optionally?
@@gilnardanana1770 ever figure it out? Maybe there was room to put a nut on the other side? and use a spool with a bolt/threaded part?
