    Lagrima by Tarrega is one of my favorite pieces and it is one of the first pieces I performed in public for the first time. I started playing electric guitar in high school. My guitar heroes were Eddie Van Halen and Slash (they still are). I went to Hope College and took a classical guitar class with Larry Malfroid and loved it. I loved it so much that I decided to become a music major. The first student recital I played in I played Lagrima, Adelita (also by Tarrega) and Spanish Romance. It’s a piece I have played regularly since then. I have never grown tired of it.
    Francisco Tarrega is one of my favorite guitar composers (the other being Villa-Lobos). His pieces work well on the guitar and sound so beautiful.
    I hope you enjoy this guitar lesson. You can find more lessons like this at my guitar school found on my website.

    Hey Robert. Great lesson of a beautiful piece. I’m trying to learn it but one thing is causing me trouble. When I move to the 9th fret barrr chord at the start of bar 5, I can’t get the G string to ring out as I seem to be muting it by stretching my A finger over to play the D string at fret 11. Any tips on how to solve this please? Thanks

    • @RobertLunn
      @RobertLunn  2 роки тому +3

      That is a tough one. There are a couple things you can try. Try covering more strings than you need to with the barre. Experiment where the best position to get sound from the G string. Another thing I would recommend is try getting the g string to ring with just the barre (without any other fingers down). See if you can get a good sound. Then try adding other fingers.
      Experiment with where your left elbow is. Sometimes bringing it closer or farther away from your body will help.
      The last thing I would say is that barre chords can be difficult. It could be just a matter of making that hand stronger and more flexible which can be achieved through time and practice as well as specific exercises.
      I hope this helps!
