They're very cute and happy bears. The photo of them on the rocks looks like a fishing buddy photo just before they start catching fish! It was fun to watch the details appear as you carved away. Thank you, Andy!
Hi Gwynn... Thank you.. I'm glad that you liked them... Haha.. yes .. I see what you mean...one of my better thumbnail pictures... Good to hear that you enjoyed the video... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hi Huw... Thank you kindly... Well I thought that they were good videos but the numbers are about half the usual.. Go figure... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hi Stacy... Thank you... I'm glad that you liked it... It's still a steep learning process for me, lots more to master before I can tackle the tricky stuff... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hi Andy! I certainly not much of a carver, but I really enjoy watching your creatures emerge! They turn out lovely. I love the fact that you share your techniques with us. I suppose if one followed along, we might approximate what your result is!! Cheers, Rick
Hi Rick... I'm glad that you are enjoying my carving videos... My Dad's been unwell so I haven't been able to get out into the workshop... He's on the mend so back turning soon... With regards to the carving... Give it a go...with gloves on of course.. I learned by following along with UA-cam videos..Doug... Messer.. Sharonmyart...etc.. I've still got a lot to learn though... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
These look like so much fun too Andy I must try making one - amazing for gifts! Thanks for these tutorials, you really go into great detail with the carving processes which is just what I need to get started - cheers Andy, all the best mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Paul... I'm glad that you liked it... these really are great fun to carve... I would love to see some pictures of your whittling work if you wouldn't mind... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hey Andy...basswood came today...gonna try the Gonk...probably have a bunch of glue lines where i took off too much😮...diggin the bear...stay safe...press on 😎Joe
Hi Joe... Great to hear that you are going to do some whittling...wear gloves!! Best thing is to have fun.. don't worry about the final result too much... They are all an achievement.. glue lines and all.. Haha You should have seen my 1st attempts... I would love to see some pictures regardless... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy I w
Gonna make me one of these and put it at the back of all the other stuff so that I've got a little bear behind. What make are those gloves Andy, they have to be better than my sliced, diced, punctured and encrusted in blood ones. Cheers.
Hi Colin... Haha... I see what you did there... very good... The gloves are... Kutlass PU500 PU coated level 5 cut resistant gloves.. I take a size 10... Just remember that they are only cut resistant and not stab proof so still take care.... And the addition of a leather thumb guard is very handy... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hi Amanda... I'm glad that you liked the little Bear and the video... The wood is Basswood, which is a hardwood but is one of the easiest woods to carve... Take care my friend and all the best from Andy x
Nice job Andy as usual , what knife you using ive some flex cuts but there a bit chunky .just come back from daughters in Tavistock couldn't of been too far from you weather was awesome this weekend ,ive just retired so ive plenty of time to carve now ,i left our Helena's a small owl and a penguin haven't done a bear yet but soon will thanks for showing us .
Hi Ant... Thank you very much... The knife is a Beber BDK Detail carving knife £12.99... I bought mine from Yandles in Somerset... I did a bit of sharpening with a diamond stone and polishing compound to get the edge that I like... But it keeps a good edge and I really like it... Tavistock is only about 40 mins from here in Camelford.. I'm glad that you had a good time... I'm sure that she will have loved your Creations... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hi Fryeguy... My Dad's been unwell and I haven't had time to get out into the workshop... I can do the whittling in the house so it works out better.... Back turning soon I hope... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
