- Does the Dean Vendetta Sound Good
Today I have one question on my mind, does the Dean Vendetta sound good or not? Let's dive in and find the answer. This particular Dean Vendetta came from a beginner's guitar package that Dean used to sell years ago, it is known as the Vendetta XM. It comes with two passive pickups, a toggle switch, a wide 24 fret neck with jumbo frets, a trem system, and a black finish. So does the Dean Vendetta sound good? Overall this guitar is somewhat solid and sounds pretty good for it's price. The only beef I have with this guitar is that it has a hard time staying in tune when you use the trem system. Besides that, it plays very well and will be a great addition to any metal heads life.
Shreddin the Vendetta today.
@lexthor I'm 6 ft 2 inches. The guitar is about the same size as a standard strat.
Right here brother man
@@whosthat7967 Awesome! Glad to have you here!
My bestfriend in high school had this exact guitar 15 years ago.
He was literally the best guitarist I knew. Havent been in touch but wouldnt be surprised if he still only played this guitar, and never upgraded
he was very humble.
It's definitely built for practicing, it's very solid. I can see why your friend could get so good on it.
My best friend is a guitarist and every time I hear him play I get really inspired especially when I listen to my favorite heavy metal bands, this video has helped me make my decision on what guitar I want to get for my first. I wanna play that thing the way you do some day, you're amazing.
Thank you, I try my best. I wish you the best with your first guitar. It's a fun and rewarding instrument!
I've got one of these as my first guitar and I absolutely love it. Mines in a red finish and it looks really nice
Nice, the red one is quite the beaut.
damn after seeing this video it really has me wanting to get this guitar for my first!!! it’s looks sick and sounds amazing! thanks for the vid and i hope i can play as well as you do!
Thank you, I hope you enjoy it when you get it. This guitar is a great one to start off with.
Picking a used one up tomorrow for 70 bucks, booked to go to a luthier to give it a once over/set-up (something a mate who plays guitar advised), then at 48 years old, will be diving into the world of learning guitar. Thanks for the upload, can't wait to start this journey.
Thank you. Good to hear you are picking up guitar, it's never too late to learn. The one thing that I love about guitar is that it always makes me feel young because there is so much to learn on the instrument. Good find getting one for $70, getting it professionally set up will give you a good leg up in your journey.
I own a vendetta 3.0 copper orange with a cool barbwire graphic on the fretboard. I only replaced the bridge pickup just 2 years ago for a seymour duncan but owned this guitar since I was about 18... that is about 14 years now. still play it very often
Very authentic presentation of your talent my friend. Supporting you here waiting for you
Thank you for your kind words.
feel like getting a vendetta and jus modding it tf up. i jus love the style
Sounds good! It does have a unique and different style, I can see why you would like it.
I just picked one of those up at a pawn shop a couple of days ago. I had to tighten up a few things, set the intonation, and I had to block up the tremolo, turning it into a hardtail because I could tell using it would be garbage. It is a great little shredder for sure. The pickups are pretty hot but I believe I will upgrade to tuners for sure like you suggested.
Congrats man, it will definitely be a solid guitar after you change the tuners out. It's pretty decent even with the stock tuners if you don't use the trem, but with better tuners it'll stay in tune much better.
It’s nice to see a decent review of the xm. A lot of the play throughs are bedroom webcam mic quality. Lol
Thanks, I try to do the best I can with these vids.
The title of this video becomes hilarious about halfway through lol it sounds amazing
Yeah, it's totally the bee's knee.
@@DustinAlford Sounds like it. Thanks for making the video, might have to get one!
@@cierokilpatrick6034 Anytime, I love making these videos!
Nice 🙂🙂🙂 I should buy one especially at this price...
Go for it! It rocks!
@@DustinAlford Okay 👍
You are a great player metal. It is good upgrade with EMG 81 y 60 pickups?
Thank you! The Emg 81 and 60 would work very well with this guitar and would definitely be a good upgrade.
I have this guitar. I'll probably change the head tuners because they dont really stay in tune. Does locking tuners solve that problem?
I think they would definitely hold better then the stock tuners especially without using the trem. With the trem it still might be a step up from the stock tuners but I'm not 100 percent sure how well it'd hold tuning with locking tuners and heavy trem use.
Before I "grew out out Super Strat" (I know it never get's old, joking, just not my piece of pie anymore, unless for comfy practice at home/long hours, days and night of recording), I've seen a lot of reviews of Dean and Vendetta stuff in general. I recall it was "rather" slim super slim neck? I'm in the beginning of your review so I'll better shut up and watch instead :D
5:15 I want more E tuning and so thrashy riffs like this one. Are these yours? Anyway this video just rejuvenated me. Don't get me wrong but that'd be cool if you playing some other stuff while reviewing, perhaps something you'd like to rediscover. Just like in this video. It's perfect. There are more or less (haha) same and new stuff but pardon my wishful thinking :>
Yeah that's my riff, I mainly just improvise in these videos so whatever happens happens.
I can see vh1, great southern trendkill and justice for all on your wall
Yeah, they are awesome albums. They made me want to pick up guitar.
Can I ask you please, this is the Dean Vendetta 1.0 VN1F Floyd Rose? I already have a dean vendetta xm without whammy bar and i was thinking about upgrade to that one, but the thing about get out of tune using whammy bar dont sounds good
This doesn't have the floyd rose. You might want that model if you're looking to do crazy divebombs while keeping your guitar in tune.
I have an early model of thus same guitar in satin finish. I want to get a better clean sound from it. Have you tried Tonerider pups? That was a suggestion, for a pup that doesn't cost more than the guitar v
I have never tried those pickups before. It might be a good option for you if you're on a budget. I usually go with Dimarzios for passive pickups but they're expensive, you might be able to get a used one off of ebay for cheap though if you want to go the Dimarzio or Seymour Duncan route.
@@DustinAlford thank you! Do you plan on doing any pickup reviews? I looked for some, but couldn't find any that you've done.
@@paulmattle6683 If I ever get a guitar that makes swapping pickups out on I'd gladly do more. I think the only pickup review I've done so far are for the Seymour Duncan Blackouts.
I’ve had mine for probably about 10 years.
I just treated myself to a schecter C7. Funny enough all that inspired me to do is get a lighter string gauge, and maybe put in a Nazgûl bridge pickup 😂
I mean no you can’t beat the feel of a set neck with a bolt on, but from what I can tell there’s literally nothing else wrong with it.
Nice man, sounds like a cool setup!
My first
It's a great first guitar.
Is it good for punk music also?
Yeah you can definitely do punk with this too!
Okay now you’re just showing off.
Only for you big boy lol.
I have the old one, with the satin black finish and without the whammy bar.. Absolutely destroys for doom and stoner metal.. Even with the stock pickups!
Nice! The satin is a good look for doom metal too. I'd love to try that version out in the future.
@@DustinAlford Its very cheap! got mine used for 80 bucks. you could throw it out a train window and pick it back up and it would play fine, Things an absolute tank.
@@DaisyHead666 Ha ha, that's what I'm talkin about, durability lol! I'll keep my eyes peeled for the model you have.
@@DustinAlford Heres one, it isnt the satin/matte black but its pretty much the same thing. Its the 2008 XM model www.ebay.com/i/124485482285?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28
@@DaisyHead666 Looks good. I do think this guitar works better without a trem too.
Man dude you can play fucking guitar..
7:28 wrong tuning For Van Halen
k
(7:19) you can't just sneak in smoke on the water like that XD
Ha ha yeah it's my favorite meme song to play on guitar. Livin that 0-3-5 life lol.
Took 5 min of talk
Thanks for the calculation it'll help people out in the future.
Well... it doesn't
