  • This video will show you how to replace the rear brake pads on a 2005 RWD Nissan Xterra. The rotors were not removed since the customer did not want to pay extra for the service. The new brake pads were provided by the customer. If OEM pads are desired, the manufacturer is Akibono. Anti-rattle abutment clips came with the brake pad hardware kit and the original clips should be replaced since studies have shown they normally loose their spring tension in as little as 35,000 to 45,000 miles. Caliper pins were lubricated with brake grease to provide even brake pad wear by allowing the caliper to "float". The new pads were coated with BG Stop Squeal for eliminating or preventing brake noise by infusing the brake pad with ingredients that reduce sticking between the pad and rotor. With Stop Squeal, when pressure is applied, the vibrations are significantly reduced, thus brake noise is stopped.

I wish I knew where you were… 😂 I have projects to do on my Xterra, and I don’t want to do them, but I would be happy to pay you to do them. Leaf springs, inner tie rods.

your not supposed to put anti chatter liquid on the pad that faces the disc, its just to dampen vibrations, what you put on the front pad will just get rubbed off but it could cause problem with pad

The BG Stop Sequel product is designed to help in the pad to rotor break in process. Look up the product details and instructions. We use it at the dealership all the time.

Do they have a covered kit for a 2000 xterra to switch from drum to disc

Not that I'm aware of. But I did a rear drum to disc conversion on my Toyota Camry by getting parts off of a Lexus ES300.

What are you rubbing on the back of the pads?

Synthetic brake grease that prevents brake noise / squeal.

Hardly Moving Productions you put that on the surface touching the rotors? It should be on the surface that doesn’t touch the rotors no?

@@higgidy1 No you NEVER put anything between the pad and rotor. There is no sense because it will be knocked off anyways. The 22 years I have been in the automotive industry I have NEVER done that. I do not pad slap either because to union the pad and rotor you have to cut the rotor if it is not too thin then it has to be replaced. Just because a person makes a video does not mean they know what they are doing........Just saying :)
