  • Ok. So Peter Thomas Roth came out with this skin tightening primer. It's got some major claims bro...like firming the skin, blurring, correcting, all the things. But wait til we get to the "How to use" 🥲 So if you're interested we're doing a full application and wear test today. Hope it's helpful! 🙌🏻

Everyone is critical of their own face and skin. She speaks of her smile lines and to someone older that might seem like a joke. But she sees her face up close and knows what her skin was like at 20 so to her, she does have wrinkles. To us, she looks flawless.

If you were many years older with many lines, wrinkles, and folds, you might be able to understand the usefulness of this product. Ive tried similar products when I have a special occasion and want to look my best. Foregoing moisturizer for one day/event is not the end of the world if you have been moisturizing a bit extra leading up to the special event. Use water based products, not oils and creams as it interferes with the action of the firming ingredients. The face is not overly “tight”, but it does iron out some of the worst sagging and have a much nicer canvas to work on.
I think the problem is you don’t have enough of a problem, so your results won’t seem like much of a change. Revisit products like these every 10 years or so and I bet, as time goes by, your prospective on them will change.
No one but my husband gets that up close and personal. If they do, it better be someone resuscitating me and not inspecting my makeup.

The reason you need a dry face is because water stops the active. It will tighten, just like the eye cream, but as soon as you put any liquid on top it will stop.

It's interesting that Roth claims it's alfalfa extract doing the work when Sodium Silicate, Sodium Magnesium Fluorosilicate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate - all synthetic clays - are the main ingredients. They work as bulking agents in products, and to help bonds ingredients since they pull absorb water. It seems like they are just pulling out excess water from the surface of the skin making it feel tighter. BTW, those ingredients are the same thing in mud masks.

Absolutely ADORE your videos Alex! They’re always so incredibly thorough and informative, never superfluous. Appreciate you beyond.
You had mentioned to say if we’d like to see more of this product tried maybe in different ways! I bought both the face and eye PT FirmX products a few months ago. Finally perfected the application and loving the results. Here’s the thing (like you) I’m just a big fan of both maintaining moisture in the skin and incorporating sun protection to preserve it’s longevity and integrity. I also love wearing makeup!!:) I’m prob speaking through the frustration of both the beauty community and so many people here in the comments in trying to find a solution.
Using these two products in particular really feels like the equivalent of someone saying to me “I’m going to throw you a huge party and get you dressed for the Gods… only thing is, you can’t invite any of your best friends.” lol imma throw the whole party out. The product has been so effective in results and so viral that, before I give up on it entirely, I would just love to see you do a video experimenting with both techniques and different layerings maybe, as well as trying to incorporate different hydrating or sun protective products, like Tatcha Dewy or Supergoop’s unseen sunscreen. These are some of my personal favorites that I’ll be experimenting w at home but totally game for whatever could work.
Hopefully will find the golden ratio w this one ✨🥇

I use a SPF setting spray for my face, I find I can avoid pilling and a lot of makeup mishaps that way plus is makes re-application a breeze. The biggest change I noticed was the nasolabial folds area, it was a lot tighter after immediate application compared to 8 hours later. I'm self-conscious about that area so I'd give this a shot!

Not all those videos are bull…if you have serious, legit, extreme bags under your eyes that PTR under eye primer will definitely tighten the bags temporarily. Like you said, it’s gonna feel weird and tight like your skin is dry. But for women who have SERIOUS bags this can be a life saver and worth the trade off if it makes them super self conscious. My aunt uses it if she wants to wear makeup. It’s not really useful for young people without extreme eye bags though in my opinion.

So, instead of the overall skin tightener, the eye tightener absolutely works on me, but I'm 42, I don't know how much it would do for you. One issue is I haven't found an actual concealer that won't break it down, HOWEVER, powder foundation is totally fine and you definitely can wear moisturizer underneath it, I've always waited afterwards so I'm not sure how long you have to wait. The problem is I could still use a tad more coverage. I usually don't like powder foundation but had J.Cat's Aquasurance, It Cosmetics Celebration Illumination and the newer Essence hanging around. J.Cat's worked the best, to the point that I'm almost satisfied with the look. I dunno if maybe the Bare Minerals powder concealer might work?? I already decluttered that stuff forever ago and don't really want to rebuy it for the third time, though lol.
But yeah, I totally see a HUGE difference in my under eyes, like I can imagine this is how I'd look with fillers, even though I'd say my undereyes are pretty good for my age. Most people think I look young for my age, but the hollowness under my eyes is worse with a little bit of fine lines. The eye tightener totally smooths it out. I just wish I could still use my concealers with it, because I won't be totally satisfied if I can't find a wear to get more coverage... if I do, though, it's a 10/10.

    • @NickaLah
      @NickaLah Рік тому

I also wanted to add that some people got concealer to work over it, but I read it has to be water based? I tried both kinds and everything broke it down. Like it maybe worked a little bit still, but it was a drastic difference in effectiveness. I love for someone to let the rest of us know specifically which concealers work with it.

I have a similar problem with my undereye being dry & wanting to turn crepy - which has gotten worse as I've gotten older. My solution to that has been adding an extra skincare step. I started using Kora Organics Eye Oil (@ Sephora) when I first get out of bed, & then blot it off with a tissue right before I do the rest of my skincare routine. It's helped me a lot with that undereye dryness. (I've got dry, sensitive, & aging acne-prone skin, if that helps.)

    • @kt9495
      @kt9495 Рік тому +2

Same issue here. I love the undereye strips for that. DHC, Bliss Labs from the drugstore and the ones from 111 Skin although pricey are good too. Also, and this might even be my favorite, is the Tula 24-7 Power swipe eye balm. I can’t really use concealer anymore but I use Chantecaille gel foundation there and it literally never creases.

It definitely looks like the next generation of Freeze 24/7's Instant Targeted Wrinkle Treatment which I think has been discontinued (or Freeze 24/7 went out of business). Don't know how else to describe it, but the product shrunk down while drying, pulling wrinkled areas flat. Sort of like fabric sizing spray. And yah, when I think about it, that stuff also rolled when mixed with moisturizer...

Your reviews are always so honest and informative. What color do you wear in the Luminous silk? And can talk about (or point me to a video) your color correcting choice. I notice it is not a classic color correcting shade. My dark circles are next level and I love how well you conceal yours with minimal coverage.

I guess this primer is just like pore-cleaning peeling mask. Initially it is gel-like, then when it dries it tightens the skin and makes it smooth, borderline "plastic-y". And also peels around hairline and can crackle around smile lines if you do move your face a lot. Usually it is quite painful to take such masks off.
I do not think that's worth it - takes too much time, can not work with all skincare and the result is meh.
Thank you for the experiment though, Alex! 🩵

I noted that too - not from experience, mind you, but I noted that the product's primary ingredients are the same in firming masks.

Thank you so much for this video and I’ll tell you why; I love seeing you without make up- you’re stunning actually and I think it’s okay to say, very much like myself, you look different with full make up on~maybe everyone does!?
Then you’ve got the pretty designer primer and of course we assume the review is going to be great, make the brand feel like ‘job done, thanks Influencer’ as that’s so often the case on UA-cam.
I watch you’re vids from start to finish & always pout when they’re finished, the content is 2nd, 1st is just you your voice etc, you make me feel chill calm and happy actually even if you’re having a rant 😁
Now I knew from early on that this primer wasn’t for me. I have dry dehydrated skin and I’m constantly in hospital, like now. I want & need the juiciest of products and that includes primers which fyi I’ve bought great ones and they just don’t work for me I wish they did I’d love to be a primer girl. I’m piggybacking on my own post so I’ll write another about primers!!
So this one for me absolutely not for me and I so appreciate you’re review as it’s so tempting when one is bored and alone to buy a product one of your top favourite influencers use and go nuts about.
And honestly for some people this would be fabulous given their skin type and wants (extra tightness etc)
Okay my nurse is calling, I love you mwah xxxx

The one I have seen isn’t this by him, I believe it was something else and it would work but the kicker of that one was you couldn’t put any makeup over it or it would basically react and take the effect away

First, you're supposed to put it on your palm and then use a paddle brush to put it on your skin. This helps people get an actual thin layer. Second, You have to put it on skin that is freshly clean or your product needs to be completely soaked in like at least an hour or so. if not, yes it will pill. Or even better than letting your skin care soak in for an hour, is the night before do a really hydrating routin and put a really think layer of night cream/ eye cream on before bed, even better put a mask over the thick cream, so it doesn't go anywhere while u sleep. The body repairs the skin best while you sleep so giving it this extra boost will do better things for you than whatever day routine you do!!! If you're worried about sunscreen once you have this on and have all your makeup on, do it a spray sunscreen, Ulta has a fabulous one. Spray sunscreens or setting spray sunscreen is honestly the best because you can reapply it like you're supposed to.... Third, you have to remain expressionist while it dries, they say 4 minutes but I would say 10 minutes, and I think it's better if you lay down while it dries. You can use this stuff every day but I think it's for special occasions. As a professional makeup artist I use this or the original on more mature skin at wedding or special events, if they have issues they want corrected like their under eyes, 11, crows feet, or even on hooded eyes (not the actual eye lid). No lips, because as soon as it gets wet, game over, also doesn't work well in smile lines... The only way to get perfect result is from a plastic surgeon.
I really wish people when they tried a innovative product or a new product would watch the brands tutorial on the innovative new product. You don't have to watch it for foundation or powders, but for new stuff you really should. This brand is not hurting for money, however other brands who have invaded products might be, and your poor review based on using it incorrectly could really hurt them. Also people who need it or could benefit in some way won't try it because you used it wrong.
The Advertisements about the bags being smoothed are 100% real, the only thing is by no mean does it last all day, you will get a couple hours wear.

I love some of PTR's products but I think this one is a big no for me. For one reason, there is no way I cannot pass on moisturizer for my dry skin. I use an essence, a hyaluronic serum and then my moisturizer before my spf. Makes a huge difference in the final overall look and feel of my skin.

    Hey there.
I think maybe you wanna try the holy grail primer that Kathleen Fuentes always use and go to?
She has dry skin and I personally think she somehow has kinda olive undertone as well.
She always use Smashbox Photo Finishing Hydrating Primer, like years.
(I haven't try out yet but ya)
And maybe you wanna look out what Taylor Wynn is using too. She was kinda oily skin and turned dry due to skin doctor's prescription Accutane.
    Good luck =)

It does actually work on someone whose has pronounced skin creases. Also you have to put it on fresh clean skin so that means no oils or moisturizers with oils that will break the product down. Also you have to layer it on not just dab it here and there. But you actually have no creases so I don't doubt it didn't work for you. It's basically like glue, lol. So it stretches the wrinkles out.

The less loose skin you have for the product to pull, the more uncomfortable it’s gonna be. I mean the eye version really takes away literal hanging bags under the eye, so if you don’t have much to tighten I can imagine how stiff and uncomfortable I’ll be
