I just love your channel. I'm so glad I found you.
This would be a nice embellishment on a sweater or a sweater set.
44:30 helpful explanation on the angles using a cord sewing foot.

i live for this im thinking about doing this spidery design on a tote bag, it'd look gorgeous. thx for the inspo queen
The dress is beautiful. It was cool watching you do the webs. Your hair is gorgeous. Thank you Gertie.💞
This technique is amazing! I have so many planned already from a Peter Pan Spider web Bolero to a mini Spider web dress for my little! Thank you Gertie!
I hope you go over your hair as well.... I love this combo!! That blue with those spiders!!! Love love love!
Everything about you is just so cool😂
If you wax your thread, it makes it easier to sew beads, buttons ,etc. on. Grandma taught me to do it that way. Love your dresses and tops and skirts. I love the details that you put in your designs. There is a time for fast and easy, but I have found out that if you spend more time on a garment you take better care of it and it last longer. Thanks for being yourself!
Thanks!!!
The screw on the back of the foot is for holding the seam guide ( which typically comes with the walking foot). You can screw it in tighter if not using the guide or just keep it in your accessories box
The pattern of the spider web on the skirt you have shown is a spiral.. I think this would be also very nice. 🙂 i guess you start then with handsewing the inner part and then go on by machine, all with one long cord? 🤔
But, can you give us a tutorial on how to braid your hair? Love that!
The braid is a hair piece I got from Stevierosalie on instagram
@@GertiesWorld And here I thought that was some badass braiding. ;) Looks fabulous.
Hello Gertie! I’ve watched this video several times while sewing, haven’t made a dress like this yet but I will do it for in the autumn-season. But I love love love your hair up do like this, and I would love to know how it is done, is that possible? I’ve shaved off my hair 3 years ago, ( yes a buzz cut) because I didn’t wanted to continue colouring my hair and wanted to go natural grey, now after several haircuts to look at least a little stylish, my hair is long enough for a “Grace Kelly roll” and other updo’s, and I am not that grey as I thought I would be! 💋💋
You could also probably make these just using a satin stitch without the cord.
😍
I love watching your videos. So helpful. Can I please ask where you got your 2 inch grid ruler and the brand? Thank you
I like a 18" by 2" size and the brand I use is Dritz www.dritz.com/product/quilt-n-sew-see-thru-ruler/. Westcott also makes one that has smaller numbers. www.amazon.com/Westcott-Beveled-Graph-Transparent-B-85B/dp/B009AV6UPE/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=clear+gridded+ruler&qid=1602156576&sr=8-6
If you are not confident in eyeballing the swoops, you can put an additional set of spokes. When you cross that additional spoke, that would be the bottom of the swoop.
If the front of the dress and bodice are interfaced with fusible and the back of the dress is not, doesn’t this create quite a noticeable difference in drape of the fabric, particularly in the skirt?
There will be some difference to the drape of the interfaced pieces. I've recommended using weft or bias interfacing, both are light weight and don't turn a piece of fabric into cardboard.
Could it be done with needle point or the liquid fabric to make the lines?
I'm not sure but you could always do a sample to test it out.
Hi Gertie I love dresses like the one you make and have wanted to make some of my own but I am not sure where start because I am a 5"2 and plus size and I havent seen any patterns for lady's my size so I was wondering if you had any tips for me
My pattern line does have plus sizes in our range. The size 20 fits 52" bust, 42" waist, 54" hip. And you can always learn to do minor sizing adjustments if you need to tweak the fit.
@@GertiesWorld ok i will look into your pattern line then
I can’t find the spider embellishment.
I like the dress your wearing is there a pattern for that
There is a pattern for this dress on the Patreon. It's an expansion for the Stanwyck skirt. charmpatterns.com/stanwyck-bodice-and-collar-expansion-pattern/
Does anyone know the source of Gertie's blue and purple pen?
It's from Dritz www.amazon.com/Dritz-673-60-Purpose-Marking-Purple/dp/B00A2H1A3W
@@heatherbeckley43 thank you so much! I've been searching for this for ages
