George I think you would look perfect in the Voltaires figures hat! And a black cloak and knee high black boots Just sayin…😎 You really brought an uplifting spirit to the retirement home. ❤️🐩👍
Good evening, George! Love the appraisal fairs! The blue European enameled vase is really pretty. It definitely looks Czech to me. Loved the Voltaire bronze! I'd like to have seen the maiden that goes with it. I really liked the spelter boy statue, too. Loved the Nippon vase with the sailboat on it. There's no room here for anything else, but I'd make a place to put that one. The Chinese stone carving was super-interesting. I'd like to have that Weller Kingfisher pitcher. She got a steal on the Lalique sculpture! I really like Waterford crystal, especially the "Lismore" pattern. I would probably faint, if I got that lamp for free!!! 🥴😂 The appraisal fairs are always a lot of fun!!! Thanks for allowing us to be a part of it!!!!!
I'm glad you concur about Bohemian on those pieces, the level of enameling seemed too heavy for English to me. The Voltaire was excellent and I hope they bring the maiden next year. Everyone responded really well to the Nippon vase, even people who don't usually care about porcelain liked it! Weller Kingfisher is perhaps my favorite of their patterns...Funny how I remembered that Lalique piece, it caught my eye when new 30 years ago and now I want to find one for $300! Thank you so much for being a part of it, I'm glad the people at the retirement home are willing to let me film
You are the most knowledgeable person I have seen. Very helpful information. I will try to remember the word Spelter whenever I come across metals that I can’t figure out. Thank you.
Hi George i stop by Andrea & family antique mall hoping to find moody pottery in your little spot but had no luck I did see you Fenton piece and salt holder
I had that pattern of stainless by Jensen and I ended up parting it out and getting thousands of dollars. I don’t know how many pieces were in the set that the person had, but each piece of that flatware, at least for me, was selling for anywhere between 50 and $100. I based my prices on replacements, and the pattern is called blue shark. I can’t remember, but I got close to the same price as their website because they didn’t have hardly any of the pieces at the time. I think I sold my last piece of this set about two years ago. Most people would probably have sold it for much less and sold it quicker but I didn’t mind holding onto it because it’s pretty rare. It definitely paid off in the long run.
That stained glass lamp is just beautiful. I think it is great that you spread the wealth of your knowledge to everyone. I am sure they enjoy it as well as us younger folks do. You have a great day
Hello George…Enjoyed learning something with this kind of appraisal type of video…just a suggestion…it would be much nicer if you can assign someone or ask the organizers to have somebody to assist with the microphone for the ones you are talking to so that we can hear more clearly their stories about the item/s being appraised…😊
Thank you George very fun & informative. In regard to suicidal artists, 2 pieces of original art that I found, when I got them home to research I discovered that both artists had took their own lives. It made me sad & kinda lessened the appeal of the pieces. I’d like to think that the artists spirits are happy when they do their work.
I wish I could say I was well read or multilingual, but those did not factor into my education somehow! I did think they were magnificent and I do think sculpture seems to be holding up in value better than hanging art in the medium price range
I think I recognized the whistling boy as: Victor Szczeblewski (Poland) “Mousse Siffleur” The artist was selling in Paris in the 2nd half of the 19th century some originals seem to have French foundry marks.
Another great video George. How do you remember so much? Amazing!! I always say it's a good thing my coffee turns light beige, or I wouldn't remember if I put creamer in it. Blessings Always
Very intersting! Some of the stories were hard to hear, but the items were all pretty cool. I always wondered about that Noritake mark, now I know the history. Thank you!
I bought a Tiffany style lamp very similar to the one here with the U shaped lights at a thrift store a few years ago for only $17. It had just been brought to the floor and I grabbed it! My best find ever.
.hey are you guys doing? Miss Ima Mann would like for You to be on the lookout for a pair of size 14 kitten heel pumps. Loretta was going to give her a pair, but come to find out they were just an old pair of spike heels that are now kitten heels. Loretta can be hardon shoes. If they are open toe, best look for a size 15 because Ima finds that having clift hangers unattactive.
We've only got kitten fur heels in these parts! Tampa is known for real fine tastes as well. I agree about clift hangers, they're usually real nasty looking
I love Asian antiques, but I know nothing about buying or selling them. That tidbit about Imperial yellow is really interesting! Would love to know more-possibly for a members live?
Hi George,I am familiar with you after seeing you with the Nichche Lady Dannie at her new store .You are very knowledgeable with Antiques and I know those Ladies there are really enjoying your impfo on their antiques
Love listening to the audience. I was at the Vancouver Worlds Fair in '86 as well. I've been lucky enough to go to Murono, and those sellers are sharks, honestly. Thank you for sharing.
@@sharonburgerburger9808 We bought cheap "made before our eyes horse figurines" but also some very nice Murano candies. Also Christmas ornaments, but they were not bought on Murano. We flew from London, and because we did not have to rent a car we stayed 5 days in Venice. Only part of Italy I've been to.
Lovely video - you are so knowledgeable and have such a good way with people. I had no idea Jewel's was having that event this weekend! I will try to head up there if possible to say "hi" (and maybe bring an item for which I'm unsure of the value).
The Danish Jensen salad set is rather wonderful! Is Jensen's "first name" pronounced George, like King George or is it Georg "Gay-org" like Captain VonTrapp in 'The Sound of Music?" I always think of 'The Jetsons' and have to chuckle when I hear 'George' rather than 'Georg.'

That is not a Buddha. That is Budai - one of the seven lucky gods. He is known as the 'Bodhisattva Maitreya' or the future Buddha. It is NOT Gautama Buddha - the actual Bussha.
Oh, thank you! I appreciate knowing more. I have a Buddhist friend, but he eschews materialism so I never asked him about the figure. The art of the Middle East and South Asia really attract me, but I have to profess ignorance by and large about the varied religious and cultural heritages there.
The story about yellow in china is not quite right. It only applied to clothing, while many pieces of porcelain were decorated in yellow for the upperclass families. Porcelain for the imperial family was only made at the imperial kilns. The Buddha figure is very sort after & worth $500 to $600.
Oh George, you did it again.
You made a room full of women fall in love with you!
(I know just how they feel🥰)
Ain’t that the truth? Always impressing the ladies with his genuine charm.
The Lalique sculpture stole my heart. The movement alone. So enjoyed your show, as always.🌹
Beautiful, yes, but I also reminded me as a half of hip socket. Maybe I've just spent too much time watching archeology/paleontology content -- lol.
