With starling it helps you budget a lot better. And makes you think how to budget. 50/30/20 rule. It teach me how to do money management a lot better. So when you get paid. It also like split payments with percentage which is really great. Helps me a lot. 50 percentage for needs. 30 percentage on wants. 20 percentage on saving.
This was super helpful - one question @thequickbookschap how do you record it when you move money out of a space, into main account in order to pay what you were saving for? Thanks in advance
Thats great.. I just wanna ask, if this method still good, or is there a better alternate now available... Ive to do a client's Spaces transactions, so would appreciate a quick reply please...
@@TheQuickBooksChap thanks so much for this. i wish there was a way of knowing if my connection to starling, which predates the 'with or without spaces' option, will just be able to handle spaces. or if i have to disconnect the bank and reconnect choosing the WITH SPACEs version. but if i do this i think it may destroy my records so far...
Starling now allow you to have direct debits paid directly from "Spaces". These will not be downloaded with the bank feed and so wouuld have to manually entered. I will be reverting to having these paid from the main account.
@@TheQuickBooksChap Yes I was watching your video in the hope that it would answer this question as I pay all my bills from spaces, and just going through my QB accounts and wondering why none of these payments are showing up. Not sure whether to just enter manual or revert. Its just so much easier when the DD comes out of the space. Thanks for video anyway!
@@TheQuickBooksChap Is there anyway to get QBs to track the bills from spaces or am I just going to move over to Xero??? Starling says it will work with that 🙄
Hi Aaron, thanks for the video. I have a Self-employed QuickBooks account and the option of selecting 'Accounting and Chart of Accounts'' on the left hand side does not appear. Is there a way around using spaces for this type of self-employed account? Thanks
Thankyou for this Aaron, is this the same for "Round up"? This is when Starling rounds purchases up to the nearest pound and put the surplus in a savings pot, Thanks

Great video, thank you. This has helped solve a problem I've been having with Monzo pots for a while.
I was using sub-accounts but hadn't thought of introducing the parent account above. Make sense. thanks Aaron 👏
This is absolutely brilliant - I have spent hours googling this very problem and had almost given up. Can't wait to get this sorted!! Thanks so much!!
Glad it helped!
Genius! A clever solution to a complex problem and I understood it immediately. Simply explained.

You can use the new bank connection (with spaces) to make it easier now

Genius! I have been using spaces as sub-acount of main account. Will switch to this method immediately!
Fantastic! When it finally works, it works a charm

Agreed, nightmare

does Xero handle this differently? Seen a few old posts in various places that kinda contradict each other on how Spaces works with Xero
this is great! Works amazingly. Do I need to explain to my accountant that i've done this, or will it just make sense on their end?
Just send your accountant this video :D
My transaction gives me the transferred from option, not the transferred to option .... confused
Yeah it’s annoying 🧐

Amazing as a new user of Quick books and was wondering how the hell I show the account we have where we add in a ‘tax’ amount for tax purposes
Glad it helped

Exactly, works the same way - you can ever set some rules to make this work
