I wish Andrea would release a small album of songs like this. I would buy it in a second her voice is incredible [Blake is totally welcome to stay if he plays the guitar the whole time xD].
Whatta canny champion wyae o' singin' an' playin' wor luv'ly Geordie Ballad! Me favourite lyrical tenor isn't half a genius on the guitar, aa'm afryate! How can georgeous singers like Andrea and Blake be so versatile? Aal best from yer German Geordie Werner. Waye aye! 'German Geordies' will aalwyez celebryate wor beluv'd North!
This is the definition of versatility. I am just amazed at how Andrea can switch styles with a completely different (and always appropriate) tonal color. Bravo to you both! Beautifully done!
What a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL job on this lovely piece!!!! Andrea's voice is SO FINE ! ! ! Blake's mastery and quiet passion on the Classic Guitar is five star - blended SO well with the feel of the music; and his harmonies are gorgeous too!!! WONDERFUL JOB ! ! ! ! THANK YOU ! ! ! !
That's a completely different thing than what I am used from Voces8. And I love it! :) _As somebody who grew up singing in a boy's choir and has been into folk music for a long time, this is the perfect addition._
This is the song we sang in music lesson at senior school in Blyth, not an easy song to learn and we certainly did not sound as good as Andrea. A beautiful recording.
I am playing this version at my father's funeral this Friday (20th Aug) - hope you guys don't mind! He is from South of the river and my mother from the North, so this beautiful folk song fits the bill perfectly.
I would love to hear more of this side of Andrea's art. Can a woman sing "Barbara Allen" or "Matthew, Mark, and Luke and John?" I'd love to hear almost any of the traditional songs that Alfred Deller recorded with Desmond Dupré back in the fifties and sixties.
And now that your careers in arranging music has taken off, your next assignment is ,"Savior of the Nations, come". The history is worth the effort. Supposedly written by Ambrose, Bishop of Milan around 374 AD, who is also credited with developing antiphonal chants, and translated by Martin Luther, circa 1524, "Nun Komm der heiden heiland" (later a Bach contata, same name)... There are several versions on You Tube even one in 6 parts but none as beautiful as you could produce and sing. I had to pull up this music last night to get some of your melodies out of my head, which is a compliment. From someone who spent 5 years on the shores of L. Michigan.
nice. - I love Voces 8, but sometimes I wished I could see more closeups, so this was very welcome. I can need all the beauty in the world to lift my heavy heart sometimes. And beauty I see.
Ouf !
The guitar sounded terrible. Why? His mails were not polished correctly. Listen to a classical guitarist such as David Russell. His nails are polished correctly, and his tone is great. A single note sounds deep, mellow and rich. Like a piano. A single note by this guitarist sounds sharp, not mellow, No richness. A pain to listen to. Learn how to polish your nails or use a pick. Study how classical guitarists produce such a rich tone. This tone sucked. Nice guitar arrangement, good singer.
I kind of agree, as a classical guitar player. However, the Geordie fishermen who first sang this would undoubtedly not have filed their nails and polished them after a shift on the trawlers! “Howay man, pass me some 2000 grit sandpaper with ma Newcy Brown, canny lad!” We’re so used to perfect performances from Voces8 and other pro outfits on UA-cam, but it was great to hear this. Raw and uncut. Andrea’s voice is purity itself. Great versatility from Blake. 👏👏
Heaven forbid a classical guitar should sound like a piano, and perhaps he can't afford such a mellow guitar, I certainly never could have afforded such an instrument and I worked on my nails.
Man, I love this voice. Such a beautiful, ethereal quality. Wonderful Andrea!
I can't remember Andrea Haines singing folk before having only heard her sing with the flawless Voces8. This is a treat.
Exactly. So sweet.
Water of living spirit
Sing voices of Earth in good faith,
Classical singers often have difficulty in adapting to folksong but Andrea makes quite a good fist of it .
I wish Andrea would release a small album of songs like this. I would buy it in a second her voice is incredible [Blake is totally welcome to stay if he plays the guitar the whole time xD].
Well I'll be damned. An exiled north-easterner and Voces 8 fan double whammied! My cup runneth over.
What a lovely voice. I've heard Andrea with Voces8, and she is wonderful in that group. On her own she also shines.
As soon as Andrea draws breath I know Im going to cry
Is there nothing this lovely woman can’t sing. Gorgeous!
Enchanting!
Beautiful!!! Andrea you are an angel singing ...
Oh my friends! What a beautiful version ... loaded with simplicity and tenderness!
Love you Andrea and Blake! Great music.
Oh my! This is the best, so beautiful!! Andrea and Blake, you are so talented! 😍 Love you guys!
This woman is a diamond !
Look them up in the choral groupe Voces8
My goodness, is there anything you folks do that ISN'T perfect? Beyond beautiful, thank you!
Gosh, such a beautiful song and Andrea Haines sings as wonderfully as ever.
This was just what I needed tonight. Choked me up.

Perfect, exquisite, sublime, unpretentious and utterly breathtaking. Thank you x
This is the first time I’ve heard her individual rather than her choral voice. It’s so much more … delicate.
My two favorite performers together are fantastic.
She has the voice of an angel.
An amazing rendition from two incredible musicians
Oh yes! My 2 favourites from voces8!!😍
Idem ! 🥰
Agreed, but I deeply miss Eleonor.
As a Tynesider, this touched me deeply. Wonderful.
A beautiful song and a truly magnificent performance. Thank you.
Nice arrangement by Blake and Andrea sounds phenomenal in the "English Folk Singer" style!
Thank you, that was ever so wonderful! Thanks a lot!
eu amo o casal❤❤
Absolutely beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful! well sung and well played, a perfect combination! We could do with a lot more from these two. Well done both!
An Angel.

So intimate. Love the raw acoustics with your voices and guitar.
So beautiful-could listen for hours!
Such a perfect voice! Thank you!
This is so beautiful! The arrangement and the singing are superb! This is musicianship from the highest level. Very nice chords on the guitar...
Fine performance by you both...well done.

We are singing this in our choir concert tonight and was really surprised my favourite soprano singing it with Blake’s great accompaniment.
That's a completely different thing than what I am used from Voces8. And I love it! :)

So beautiful!!
Beautiful arrangement and a lovely lyrics.

Przepiękny Śpiew oraz akompaniament. Gratuluję. PL
So lovely. Thank you.
Oh my! Just listened to v8 and Blake's arrangement of Finlanda. Can it get any better?
I to listened to Finlandia just before The Water of Tyne. There is a sublime richness to life if we will only listen for it. What a special group.

I ask for words,pls...
Beautiful 👍
A very pleasant surprise !
Best version of this song that I've seen on UA-cam. Could you guys do the Wellerman?
🎉🎉🎉 😊😊😊 !!!
Just great
Veddy nice.
Andrea Haines
To hear Andrea's voice is enough to fall in love with her. Blake does a nice job too. But he can never be Andrea.
Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
You are not the only one in love with Andrea.
Are there more songs on here by this duo? Absolutely outstanding!
I thought I recognized Andrea from Voces8 - another incredible a capella group!
These two would be super couple...
Love it! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
❤️❤️❤️

Good version; owes a lot to the Dransfields, I think. Best bits when Blake joined in.
Any plans for a CD?
Ouf ! Nous avons les arbres, les fontaines, les oiseaux, les enfants, la prière et Voces8 sinon cette pauvre terre serait invivable ! La Beauté sauvera le monde !
Wey man bonny lass ya a canny chanter 😀( I listen to voces 8 a lot ) I even detect a little bit north east twang there
im to lazy to sit and work out the chords lol. you guys mind giving the chord structure?
well without a bit of laziness we will not get any steps to anywhere . , let it just be the beauty of harmony .
Beautiful song fantasticly performed but its Hinny not Hunny
It's 'hinny' not 'honey' and there's plenty of bridges so not sure what you're complaining about but otherwise nicely executed version
Maybe there weren't when this was written.
@@IndigoJo then swim
You people are hilarious!
A perfect folk voice.
But it’s a Geordie song, so it’s “Hinny”, not “Honey”.
@Ian Laing Wow, great comment.
An interesting tidbit, Tuppy, thanks!
hinny not honey
